General :: Backing Up / Restoring App Data Without Root?

Nov 25, 2012

I just moved to a Galaxy S3 (Tmo) from a rooted MyTouch 4G slide. I'm loath to root this phone due to some issues that arose with my last handset.

I got My Backup Pro, in large part to get my texts back, but also because I'm a petty little child and don't feel like losing the benefit of all of my time-wasting hard-earned progress on games like Angry Birds, Coin Dozer, Temple Run, and the like. When I tried restoring the app data for these games, I got nothin'. The data I backed up from the old phone seemed to avail me not at all on the new one, restore though I tried. and my feeble attempts at finding where the data goes using Astro made me feel about as tech-savvy as the coworkers I'm often called upon to assist with their phones or computers. (At least I got my texts ...)

Is it not possible to restore app data with this program (or any other way) without rooting?

General :: HTC One V - Backing Up WiFi Passwords Without Root (restoring Backup After Unlocked Bootloader)

I have a One V, and I want to backup atleast 30 wifi passwords I have stored on my device, but all the apps on play store require root.I can't do that as unlocking the bootloader will remove my phone data, so I'm asking :

If I unlock the bootloader and then restore data still with the stock ROM on, will it restore the wifi data automatically, and then hopefully I can back it up with a wifi backup app (cause there is no way to root device without unlocking the bootloader atm)? Here's what dashboard is showing as backed up:

Motorola Droid :: Prior To Root - Backing Up Wireless Hotspot Data

Apr 23, 2010

I am getting ready to "try" to root my phone and the one bit of info that I would like to save is all the wireless hotspot locations/passwords I have collected. What is the best way to do this?

I am also wondering, I have read several threads on people rooting their phone back one version to the 2.05 I think it was. Why would you do that? I thought I read there is a 2.1 working root correct?

General :: Backing Up Android / Transferring Files?

Jan 18, 2014

I just bought a LG Nexus 5.With the iPhone, I could easily transfer all my data and backup my phone via iTunes. I've tried searching the web for similar software for android, and I have not really been able to find an iTunes replacement. I noticed that HTC and Samsung have sync managers, but I haven't been able to find one for LG. Also, I would prefer if I could find something that doesn't require cloud storage, as I like to have my backups and files locally on my Mac.

1: is there an iTunes replacement for android?

2: does LG have a sync manager?

I would ultimately be able to backup everything over USB, and restore it all also over USB, so that I could wipe the tablet, install something else, and get back to the point I was before I wiped it out. I have apps and data files, but I also have OS customisations and setup that I have to re-do if I re-install the OS.

General :: Properly Backing Up MIUI SMS To Regular Android?

Extracting the messages from a Nandroid doesn't work because MIUI uses a different sms database format or something.

General :: SAMSUNG SGH I997 - Backing Up Contacts To Google

Jul 6, 2012

I have a rooted Samung Infuse with AT&T and am currently running ZEUS with few problems. I love this ROM but I am going to switch up and flash a newer ROM within the next few days. However, (back in January) before I got ZEUS, I went from the Stock ROM to MIUI and I used Titanium Backup to transfer all of my data. When I backed up contacts in the Stock ROM through Titanium and tried to restore them once I had MIUI, I kept getting force close messages that made the phone unusable because they were so frequent. I isolated the problem to be related with contacts and just deleted my saved contacts. The problem went away, but I ended up switching to ZEUS later, now with no contacts.

Anyway, I don't know if that was a random occurrence that happened only to me in my flashing process, but to avoid anything like that again, I'd like to be able to backup my contacts to Google. I've seen it mentioned several times here and on Google's site, but never did I find a how to or any sort of procedure. How to backup my contacts to Google?

Nexus :: Backing Up Sms

May 30, 2010

I just got my first message memory full notification and frankly I'm quite disappointed now I don't see the point in limiting something that uses so little data compared to everything else.. But w/e, that's fine. And I'm sure that, like with everything else, there's an app for that So I'm betting a lot of you don't fancy deleting their texts either and I really like being able to backtrack my conversations a bit (love threaded view in that aspect). That's why I want to ask you guys, which sms backup app is the best.I would really like to be able to back my messages up to the SD and still be able to read or search them without having to restore, doesn't have to be threaded view or anything, just no cluttered xml file or anything been looking for this functionality since my first dumb phone, so I'm hoping this time I'm lucky So, any of you more experienced android users want to share some knowledge on this?

Motorola Droid :: Backing Up My ROM

Oct 26, 2010

I'm new to the world of root. I used the rageagainstthecage method to become one the many now with root piveleges on hs/her Droid. I want to back up my ROM before doing any further playing with my new capabilities. I don't know if this has been asked before, the information I have found seems to be inolved in previous proceedures to get root access and I don't know what is still applicable if any of it is. It looks like I need to use RSD lite to do something with SPRecovery. Will the current version work with 2.2? For that matter, will it overwrite my exsisting ROM (since it appears it will be flashed onto my phone). All the info I have found uses SPReovery as part of the root process. If I do need to flash that onto my phone using RSD lite and I don't need to fear wiping out my ROM, what subset of steps do I need to follow just for SPecovery to allow me to make a ROM backup?
