View 7 RepliesI just got my pair of UE600vi earbuds with a mic and in-line controller.
Everything works as expected (so no volume control), but what I didn't expect was that the built-in mic doesn't seem to work properly. When the cable is plugged in properly I get audio in a call, but the person on the other side of the line says he can't hear anything.. However, if I take the plug out a bit so that one black ring is out of the plug the mic seems to work,(probably because the mic is disabled and it uses the phone mic..) but I only get audio to one earbud.
I contacted Logitech which said that they can do nothing and that it's Android's problem.. However some people say that they've had no problems with apple-optimized headsets apart from the volume buttons.

Wondering if anyone knows the most optimized way to handle opening an URL in android. Here is how I am doing it:
String tempUrl = helper.getUrl(tempString);
Intent i = new Intent("android.intent.action.VIEW", Uri.parse("http://"+tempUrl));
startActivity(i);
Must you start a new activity in order to open a URL?
Does any one know of a text editor on android optimized for programmers, like g-edit?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm building a game with graphic assets in hdpi resolutions (hence I put the files in drawable-hdpi directory). I don't want to have a corresponding mdpi resolution of the images, and I will code everything in 240-dpi based pixel coordinates.
Is it possible to still allow mdpi and ldpi devices to run the application, by automatically scaling the graphics from the hdpi version? Optimize for high-dpi devices only but still support (small- and) medium-dpi screens.
I have optimized the R2D2 bootanimation for the original Droid. It will play smoothly and all the way through. File is half the size of original.
View 27 Replies View RelatedOne thing some of you over-clockers may not be aware of is, the over-clocked kernel that you flashed to your DROID is based off of the 2.0 kernel. Some folks are reporting issues again that were present before the 2.0.1 update i.e. crackling audio, LED and keyboard back-lighting dysfunction, etc. Actually, I have yet to experience any of these issues.
This isn't bad news, mind you. Just a little something that we can look forward to as the new & improved kernels become available. I still have high hopes that the official 2.1 release is going to be a very optimized ROM/kernel for our beloved DROID. And when that kernel gets over-clocked.
UPDATE: I have since removed the CompCache from my DROID. I would get reboots when I tried calling anyone.
I installed Galaxo 1.6.3.2 the other day and GPS performance sucked (im not the only who has noticed this)I decided to go back to the roots. I want your opinion which 1.5 version is most responsive, fastest, least battery consuming qnd gps friendliest. Languages are not important (beside english ofcourse).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed this APK (given in post 6) on my eris on leak v3. But there are a few things that didn't work properly... for example, when you are in now playing in portrait mode the control buttons don't show. Also it keeps force closing. I don't know if either of these can be fixed, or even where a source could be found. All I know is this player is the closest I have seen to the iPod Touch/iPhone one and no, bTunes is not the same. If you haven't tried this yet, you should.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to remove apps from My Android Apps list, on Android Market / Google Play? I have a few hundred in my list and a few dozen of those are apps I plan to never install again. I'd like to remove them from my list in the Market/Play. I've already uninstalled them from my phone.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI use rooted 4.3 Samsung S4. Some apps like MX player can play video when the screen is off. I want to play games of other video apps when the screen is off. For example:
1. I use Android to watch some CNN and bloomberg TV (not radio) that I want to play in the background with the screen off
2. I am playing some games which require the apps to be opened and the screen on to get some special stuff.
Is it ok? Will there be problems in the future or not?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have been flashing a couple of roms lately and everytime I flash a rom, the new ROM sees all the apps that are installed. However, it's not doing that anymore and I have 1GB left of storage with no apps installed. Is there a way to force android to see these apps? If not, is there a way to just wipe all of the app data that is on there so I can start over?
I just tried a factory reset and it didn't erase anything
Android and Linux kernels started re-merging at version 3.3. People said that a short way down the road, android apps would be able to run natively in linux. the kernel is now version 3.6 and I've heard nothing more about running android apps in linux. people on these and other forums put a lot of great work into getting linux running on android devices. now with windows 8 coming out, the market will be full of both ARM and x86 based touch devices of all sizes and shapes. I for one would love to be able to boot up ubuntu on one of these devices, and use either traditional linux apps or android touch apps as my mood and situation dictate. so- any new word on when we will be able to run android apps in linux?

I am not really comfortable with the idea of sharing data with Google, so I wonder how it could be possible to run Android without the Google apps.Using CM7 as the base for my devices (SE X10 mini pro & ZTE Blade) is already a good starting point, by not installing the GAPPS package.
How to get apps from the market without GAPPS?

I have heard people say that you can use Titanium Backup to uninstall stock apps. I don't have the pro version, do I just go to the Backup/Restore menu and click the app and uninstall? Is that it? Also, some of the apps don't seem to show up in Titanium backup. Specifically, I wanted to uninstall Messenger, but I can't find it in the list. Another thing is I want to uninstall the Google Search so that the search capacitive button won't have that app pop up or any of the search app for that matter. Is it safe to uninstall Google Search?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm into shifting to android world for the first time, and have never experienced the work or use of any android device. Now that i'm going to use an Android smart-device, I know that I have to re-purchase all the apps I had purchased on my iPhone. i'm just concerned about the bookmarks I have on my current iPhone apps, particularly the ones I have in my LDOCE app (Longman Dictionary of contemporary English). If I bought Galaxy S4, how could I transfer all the bookmarks? Also, is there any way to sync the accounts I have for the apps i'm going to purchase?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 android phones, one old G2, one xperia X8 and recently I got a free motoluxe from t-mobile.
I would like to make sure all the installed apps are always synced between each phone: If i install a few apps on the G2, I will be able to install them on any other phone by clicking a button or such without having to remember what i did install.
One major problem is that the motoluxe is not rooted yet, but both the other have custom roms.
I have Motocast on my Motorola Droid 4 which lets me view/access any file on my computer as long as both my phone and laptop are connected to the internet and I have the Motocast software running on my computer.
Are there any similar apps that work on non-Motorola Android devices?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a place where I could find open source examples of User Interfaces for android apps. Like a project containing custom buttons, isons, sound effect, a nice layout with multiple blank activities that serves as a skin for your app. Strangely I didn't find anything like this whereas there are plenty of themes.
