Motorola Droid X :: Install R2D2 Ringtones And Notifications

Oct 3, 2010

I wanted to install the R2D2 sounds onto my Droid X. How do I go about doing that? I've installed the R2D2 boot animation, and now I want all of the sounds from that ROM onto my phone without the actual ROM. The only things I even care about are the sounds and the boot animation.

Motorola Droid :: Official 2.1 Release Is Going To Be Very Optimized ROM / Kernel

Jan 29, 2010

One thing some of you over-clockers may not be aware of is, the over-clocked kernel that you flashed to your DROID is based off of the 2.0 kernel. Some folks are reporting issues again that were present before the 2.0.1 update i.e. crackling audio, LED and keyboard back-lighting dysfunction, etc. Actually, I have yet to experience any of these issues.

This isn't bad news, mind you. Just a little something that we can look forward to as the new & improved kernels become available. I still have high hopes that the official 2.1 release is going to be a very optimized ROM/kernel for our beloved DROID. And when that kernel gets over-clocked.

UPDATE: I have since removed the CompCache from my DROID. I would get reboots when I tried calling anyone.

Motorola Droid 2 :: R2D2 Camera / Focus Clicks But Application Not Opened

Nov 20, 2010

Anytime I try to access my camera utility, through pressing the camera button, choosing the camera icon, or choosing the camcorder icon, the auto focus clicks like normal but the program does not open. The screen just goes black for a second and opens once more on the main screen. When I take the SD card out it works fine, but otherwise nothing will work. I have tried a factory reset, uninstalling several programs, and power cycling over and over again.

Motorola Droid X :: Flashed The 2.2 SBF - Redid All Mods But R2D2 Boot Animation Not Working?

Oct 16, 2010

I flashed the 2.2 SBF this morning, mainly because I had some free time and wanted to see if maybe it would alleviate the random reboots I am experiencing.

I have all of my mods back in place. However, the R2D2 boot animation isn't working.

I installed it like I did before, from bootstrap recovery. I did the mod to my build.prop for the sound, just like I had before.

However, I still have the default red eye boot animation - now with the R2D2 sound.

General :: Making Apple Optimized Headset Mic Work On Android?

Aug 15, 2011

I just got my pair of UE600vi earbuds with a mic and in-line controller.

Everything works as expected (so no volume control), but what I didn't expect was that the built-in mic doesn't seem to work properly. When the cable is plugged in properly I get audio in a call, but the person on the other side of the line says he can't hear anything.. However, if I take the plug out a bit so that one black ring is out of the plug the mic seems to work,(probably because the mic is disabled and it uses the phone mic..) but I only get audio to one earbud.

I contacted Logitech which said that they can do nothing and that it's Android's problem.. However some people say that they've had no problems with apple-optimized headsets apart from the volume buttons.

HTC Droid Eris :: Can We Get Optimized For Eris?

I installed this APK (given in post 6) on my eris on leak v3. But there are a few things that didn't work properly... for example, when you are in now playing in portrait mode the control buttons don't show. Also it keeps force closing. I don't know if either of these can be fixed, or even where a source could be found. All I know is this player is the closest I have seen to the iPod Touch/iPhone one and no, bTunes is not the same. If you haven't tried this yet, you should.

General :: Bootanimation Does Not Work / Show

Apr 22, 2014

I have a problem with a clone (HDC model). That I did a factory reset and reformatted the storage. After that I suddenly don't have my bootanimation anymore. Instead it shows a silver grey "android" logo in the middle of the screen when I boot the phone, and the same when I shut it off.

I have checked my system/media folder and the phone actually have all the bootanimation.zip shutdownanimation.zip etc. in there, and they are also the original ones. But for some reason the phone don't use them by boot or shutdown.

Also I tried with "Boot Animations -root-" app from the Playstore, but it also don't change anything. I tried to place bootanimation.zip in data/local also but no change.

I checked the permissions of the files and they are also good. And tried all kind of codes on the phone, but none have worked so far.

Android :: Application Optimized For High DPI Screen But Supporting Only Small / Medium

I'm building a game with graphic assets in hdpi resolutions (hence I put the files in drawable-hdpi directory). I don't want to have a corresponding mdpi resolution of the images, and I will code everything in 240-dpi based pixel coordinates.

Is it possible to still allow mdpi and ldpi devices to run the application, by automatically scaling the graphics from the hdpi version? Optimize for high-dpi devices only but still support (small- and) medium-dpi screens.

General :: Bootanimation QMG Files For Samsung Galaxy S III

Jun 11, 2013

Its hard to change the bootanimation and shutdown animation on Samsung devices because samsung uses a .qmg file that cant be edited without using the software for it, which is out there and I'll put up a link. Its very hard to do apparently and I not adept enough to mess with it. There's also other ways to enable custom animations by flashing special zip files created by smokin1337 and clarified by ReelFiles and using something like rom toolbox to add custom ones to your system/media folder. I was actually looking to see if could got in your system/media and audio folders and post the original .qmg bootanimation and samsungloop files. I have a verizon butI flashes my galaxy s3 over to metro pcs with everything working just fine so i would like to change my animation with the stock R530 variant. I am looking for all types from the international to us cellular to metropcs and to straight talk and sprint.

General :: Custom Bootanimation Don't Work - Black Screen

Aug 9, 2010

I wanted to create a simple bootanimation for my HTC Desire. I found a couple of websites explaining pretty much everything from folder structure to the contents of desc.txt, so I started playing around a little bit.

However after pushing my first customized bootanimation to the phone, all I get is a black screen after the initial HTC logo.

I already tried using desc.txt files from different bootanimations that I found on the web. I even extracted and re-zipped a downloaded bootanimation so I could see if that could possibly be the problem. But none could solve my black screen.

At least I think I have narrowed down the problem to the png files I use. My last guess is, that I save those files using the wrong settings.

I use Photoshop CS 5 using the following workflow:

First I create the frames that I want in my animation (just like build a GIF file). The I opened File-->Export-->Render Video. Then I select "Image Sequence", choose PNG, disable interlacing in the settings and finally choose a 480x800 resolution. Alpha channel is set to "None".

After that I use IrfanView to change the image color depth to 24bit and save the files in the part0 folder. None of my files is bigger than 30 KB.

My folder structure looks like this:

part0
-----00001.png
-----00002.png
....
-----00027.png

My desc.txt looks like this:

480 800 30
p 0 0 part0

After zipping the folders and the desc.txt without compression, I push the files to my phone. But when I try to watch it, all I get is a black screen.

I attached my bootanimation.zip. When I download bootanimations from the web, it works just fine.

Motorola Droid :: March Smart Phone Madness Finals - Motorola Droid Vs Palm Pre Plus

Apr 2, 2010

They are at the final battle. It looks like we might have a fight on our hands since the Palm Pre just got the free hot-spot options from Verizon. March Smart Phone Madness Finals: Motorola Droid vs. Palm Pre Plus

The main points that I like to enjoy is: Droid beat out the phone that beat the iPhone, and the Droid got further in the brackets than any other Android OS phone Some of the progress is due to hardware, some due to following (over the Nexus'), but a lot due to the v2.01 (and now 2.1) version of the Android OS. Also, this poll is open ALL weekend - it does not close until April 5th, so we have tons of time...but then again, so does the Palm Pre. Let's have at 'em!
