General :: Sync All Apps Between Android Phones
Mar 31, 2012
I have 3 android phones, one old G2, one xperia X8 and recently I got a free motoluxe from t-mobile.
I would like to make sure all the installed apps are always synced between each phone: If i install a few apps on the G2, I will be able to install them on any other phone by clicking a button or such without having to remember what i did install.
One major problem is that the motoluxe is not rooted yet, but both the other have custom roms.

My finance and I recently upgraded to Andriod phones (Samsung Fascinate and Driod X), and I'm looking for apps that sync between different phones. Specifically, to do lists, grocery lists, calendars, etc.
Anyone have any suggestions?
FYI, we already maintain a google calendar between the two of us as it makes scheduling things far easier than always checking in.

I have just bought a Moto G (although this question is a generic Android one.) I am considering buying a second for my wife. We have not had smartphones before, but both of us use Chrome and I have a Chromebook.
What is the best policy for keeping identical Contacts on the phones?I am guessing both Moto G's could be registered to my Google account. My wife would have access to all the paid for Apps I have and all contacts would be there immediately for her. The phones would only differ in the mobile phone number attached to them. We use SIP phones in the house and I have CSipSimple on my Moto G - my wife's phone would add to the VOIP options.
What are the merits of registering my wife's phone to her own Google account and using CardDav to sync contacts? The two accounts are delegated to each other anyway and all mailboxes are visible to both of us.

Between two phones using Android 4.2x. Each of us has setup our own contact image. How can we sync automatically the contact picture between the two phones? For example, is it possible when we talk (or SMS), I get the contact picture of the remote person and the other person gets mine. Of course, providing that the contact picture is to be sync'ed is not yet set up.
Must use GMail Contact sync: [URL] ......

I'm using multiple android devices, all of them under one phone number (only one plan that includes five separate sim cards). All of the services are available under any individual device, BUT! Text messages (SMS) ONLY arrive at the devices that holds the "primary" or "master" sim card.
What I'd like to have, is the ability to somehow send any arriving messages from the primary device via something (email? im?) that doesn't require them to be in close vicinity (so no wlan/bluetooth). So that it wouldn't matter which device I hold, I'd always receive any incoming text messages and they would be available on all devices. Best would be, if also SENT messages would sync between devices.
Also of note is that the sync should be (almost) instantaneous (as fast as can be achieved via push-gmail or instant messaging). So no scheduled syncs or anything that requires an interval.
Each one of the devices are capable of sending/receiving sms on their own, so no technical barriers exist on that front.
By syncing, I mean that the messages would be available at each device's own "messaging system", NOT just backed up in email or something. (so SMS2Mail of backupsms -style apps are out of the question.)
The devices are running Android 2.2, 2.3, 3.1 and come next year, android 4.0.
I'm going to use:
* Samsung Galaxy Note
* Samsung Galaxy Tab
* Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
* Samsung Galaxy Gio
* Motorola Defy
I've looked into TotalSMS Control, DeskSMS, Phone Control and various other apps, but they all lack some part of what I need. (DeskSMS looked the most promising, but apparently doesn't work on Honeycomb, at least market doesn't show DeskSMS for my Tab 8.9).

Transfer between devices over WiFi
Any reliable app for phone to phone transfers over wifi.Thought I had found one in X-Link but it is very hit and miss if it sees the other device
Auto sync over WiFi
Is there an app that lets you sync over your home network to your computer without sitting at it?All the apps i find that let you sync over wifi require you to set the connection up each time you want to do it. I can connect my USB cable quicker, I want to be able to get home press a button on the screen and it will sync (like HTC Sync does for me just now).

Some apps like location tracking apps on my sons phone does not work all the time when his phones on 2g internet. But on wifi it seems to work all the time. Apps like life360 location tracking apps, remote control apps like androidlost, which uses push messages and also polling services works intermittently. Sometimes it works on 2g internet and sometimes it does not. But on wifi, there's no problem at all.
But strangely messaging apps like viber works continuously on 2g or wifi without any problems.

I am about to activate a Droid for my wife, and I would to set her up with her own Google account for email, contacts and such, but be able to download apps using my Google Checkout account and be able to install my purchased apps. Is there a way to do this? I know this is available in the iOS world. I was hoping the same thing would be available in the Android world.

I've occasionally had some issues with seeing the white HTC screen between switching apps and what not, is this because all of them are on my phone? Is it better to put some on the sd card?

I've checked the forum and found a couple threads related to my question but they all seem to end without a definitive answer, so here goes.....
I'm looking for a checkbook register app that can be installed on 2 Android phones and will sync with one another. Example: My wife makes a purchase and records it in the application.....I am then able to open the app on my device and view the purchase she just recorded and vice versa. As I stated above, I have checked multiple recommendations from other threads, (e.g., cashflow, firewallet, financisto, etc...), but none of them are clear as to whether or not they sync between multiple devices.

My family has got three android phones, an HTC Hero, a Samsung Galaxy, and a T-Mobile Pulse, all are running android 1.5 with the latest manufacturer firmware. On the T-Mobile Pulse, when searching for a couple of apps (ones that I have installed on the other two devices), I get returned 'no matches'. For example, if I search for 'BrightAI', which is a developer who has around 8 apps on the market, I get no matches. If I search for individual apps, I get 'no matches'. Searching for the same on either the Hero or Galaxy returns the expected results. Does anyone have any ideas why certain apps are accessible on one device, but not the other?

Since the Dinc also has root, I would think they also have posted master backups in their forums. (I'm still trying to find some links.) Wouldn't their backup have some stuff we don't, (like the cool weather app that shows rain drops on their screen and a windshield wiper that wipes it clean), that could be installed on our phones?

I'm still a little confused as to what the situation is here. With a rooted Android phone, are all non-free market apps unavailable, or just ones with copy-protection? For non-free, un-protected apps (are there any?), can they be purchased directly and installed on the phone without going through the market?

Any way to automatically sync Play Store applications across multiple devices. In other words, I have a Nexus 7, TPad, LG Connect (work phone) and then I also switch between a GNex and Rezound (personal phone).
Is there anyway that if I download an app from one device that the app will also automatically be pushed/downloaded on the other devices?
It is a real pain to have to remember to go to each other device and download the app, and even worse when I switch between handsets that may not have been used for several week.

I have a few Android devices and I play around with them quite a bit - flashing ROMs, etc. - and there's one thing that tends to irk me: When setting up my Google account on the device, there's the following checkbox:
Bring apps, settings and other data that you previously backup up to your Google account
Is there any way to limit this to settings and other data? I've used a TON of Android apps, and there are many, free and paid, that I have no desire to use again. I know a more robust solution (Titanium Backup, etc.) is better, but I'm not always running with root and I'm not looking for extremely-fine-grain control. I simply want to skip installing apps I haven't used in months! I know I could simply uninstall the apps, but there are a ton. I'm willing to uncheck the box if I can get a clear understanding of what I'll be missing if I don't sync. I don't have much time to experiment with it at the moment. For example, I don't remember if known wi-fi networks are synced (compare to Windows 8, which does - if I remember correctly - along with tons of other data)
