I`m looking for an app to lock two files on the desktop of an tablet.
The company i work for is looking to supply their prospects with a tablet (for promotional reasons offcourse) . The idea is that a video and a pdf are locked to the desktop of that tablet.
Alternatively a solution that would periodically copy the shortcuts back to the desktop would be an option aswell.

I know most of you would say it's not possible, but I don't care if you say that. Everything is possible in this world. You just have to want it.
Most important reasons why it shouldn't work:
- EXEs are compiled for Windows
- CPU commands are different to the x86 processors
- WinAPI isn't available on Android
The application I want to run, will run on a couple of houndred of (Tablet) devices, a remote connection is not the way to go. The application is private, and not available on the market. There is no other application that could replace it.
Any VM for Android, or an other solution -> Performance doesn't matter!
For the beginning I want to try to run a small windows application, like notepad.exe on android devices. Besides of that there is also a way to run Win98 on Android. I havent tested it yet tho.
I just got a Galaxy Note 10, which I am hoping will work well for art-making purposes.I need to be able to transfer files to and from my tablet. I need to be able to import some files I've started on my computer and then transfer my drawings back to said computer.
I've never used an android device before. I thought there would be a simple built-in option for this, but it seems that there's not. Fine, so I have to download an app, which is fine. I've downloaded several, but nothing is working the way I want.
I have a folder on my computer that is shared on the network. Every other computer in the house has no problems finding it, grabbing files from it, or putting new files on it. But I can't find any app that lets me browse the shared folder like any other (windows based) computer can do. I tried looking this up and I'm getting direction for setting up an ftp client. The folder is already shared using a common and well-known protocol. I don't have to put in a username and password to find it. I don't have to select the IP address for my computer. I don't have to select protocols or anything like that. It's a standard windows home network. Why can't I find anything that will just accept that and look for that?
Explore and transfer network files without having to have me set up all this server/ftp crap. I want an app that finds that stuff automatically. Preferably one that also works as a standard file explorer app.
I'm trying to access my tablet Odys Xpress to change the ROM. The problem, after reading several posts on how to do, is that windows 7 does not recognize the driver. Surely it's because I have not activated the tablet's USB debuggin. But change can not access because it has a screen lock pattern type I do not know.how I can remove the pattern lock screen?

My daughter has an account on the same device and I'd like to give her 'read only' access to the mp3 library in my account (rather than loading the same files into her account and wasting space with 'duplicate mp3' files).
None of the file manager apps I've tried so far seem to have the ability of setting file permissions.
OK, here's is my somewhat convoluted question: I am considering the purchase of an android tablet (Dell Venue 32 gb)...I want to take it on a vacation and use it, in addition to GPS and Email, to back up the files from my camera's SD card...Is this a practical idea and what would be the best way to go about it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Iconia A500 tab, rooted. The problem is everytime I try to copy an MKV file to the SD inside my tab my windows crashes and restarts. I tried copying other files to the SD and it works like the charm, but when it comes to MKV files it crashes. Note I can copy large files into the SD just not MKV files This makes me mad for a good reason. I've tried and tried solutions, but seem to not come to a happy understanding.
P.S! I have ICS also I do not know why I can't mount my external HDD to the tab either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I got our Nexus7 tablet over a year ago, I was happy to find that it would accept WAV files as notifications and ring tones since I had a number of custom WAV files that I wanted to use for different needs.
In addition I used SmartVoiceRecorder to generate a custom voice ringtone for my wife (who has difficulty hearing and finds it easier to hear alerts recorded with my voice) and it worked fine using the WAV files that it generates.
Over the last couple of days, her phone stopped ringing. Her settings showed that the ringtone was set to "none"
Using SmartVoiceRecorder to reset my recordings to "ringtone" didn't work either. Copying the WAV files to the ringtone directory and selecting them using ES File Explorer also didn't work.
None of the above actions triggered any warning or complaint, but the current ringtone was reset to "none" after each attempt without warning or notification.
I checked the SMS message tone and found that it had also reset to none.
Not sure if there is an android app to convert WAV to an android acceptable ringtone, but Mobile Media Converter - The Audio and Video converter you want. is a nice little PC converter that creates mobile compatible audio files... I tried AMR and OGG outputs, and both worked as Nexus ringtones.
I need to recover deleted files from my Android Tablet internal storage folder ( /mnt/sdcard ). This is mounted like a fuse filesystem. I've run Hexamob Recovery PRO from Android Market in my smartphone and it recovered very good some deleted files from my vfat storage folders (both internal and external sd card).
But the smartphone version is not running correctly in my Motorola Xoom because it don't detect internal storage (fuse). I asked to developers about a tablet version and they said me they are working in a tablet version but fuse file system is very hard to manage. Before connecting my phone to my PC desktop computer, I want to verify if this is the correct method: Question May simply connect my USB cable from my HTC Hero into my USB drive into my PC desktop? Will this pop-up the files, directly, etc? May I simply Copy/Paste the file(s) (pictures, etc.) into a file on my PC desktop hard drive? Is there simply a folder with my Micro-SD card files? I'm not sure if they're full apps or just simply icons to download apps or get more information. I have tried to avoid using them. I know previously I had a couple apps that were sending notifications to the notification system that I considered to be spam. After some research I found out how you can find out which apps are doing it and disable notifications from those apps so that took care of that.

If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

View 1 Replies View Relatedgot a Samsung Galaxy S4 (for several years I had iPhones) and I am enjoying it. Now that I have gotten all my music files away from iTunes' clunky clutches I have reorganized them and they are on my S4's sim card and it works great.
The issue is that I have updated a few of the files and moved a couple more around. I want to update those music files on my S4 from my PC. I could just delete the Music folder on the S4 and recopy everything over, but that seems to be a huge overkill.
What is a good way to compare files between my S4 and folders on the PC and match/update between the two? I am using Windows 7. I have tried to map the Sim Card as a drive but couldn't get that to work. I have Kies from Samsung but that is kinda clunky. I have also tried AirDroid (which I think is great) but I can't really sync files with that. Normally I would use a Windows application like Beyond Compare or WinMerge to do something like this.
I am on a standard website that has a normal upload button, I need to upload a PDF file, But when I click on the upload button on the web site a popup window from my Android phone appears and says "Choose action" and gives me access to the gallery, camcorder, voice recorder , choose music track, gallery (again), select music track and voice recorder (again).
I need to some how get access to my SD card and my download folder to be able to pick the the pdf file that I need to upload. I have tried this both on the default internet browser and Google Chrome, but both give the same options.

My Sandisc 64GB SD card went kaputt last week, it froze at 33GB, luckily the existing files are all ok and I was able to copy all the files onto my PC, however nothing new can be written to it. I've tried formatting with no success. So I copied the files onto the PC and just got a new this time Samsung 64GB micro SD card. Problem I'm having now is that on several attempts it's failed to copy the files back to my SD card (from PC) I've formatted the card in the Note 3..the music files about 4 GB transferred just fine, the problem seems to be with the Pix and Videos. I'm currently trying to copy the DCIM folder back onto the micro sd and it's saying it'll take 6 hours.

Moving finger left get me to desktop number 2 (right of 1), if i do it again, i am at the third desktop and from the third by swiping finger i will get to first. This is beaviour i dont want to. I want to go 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> and stop. And ofcourse back 3>> 2 >> 1 and stop. This is how is my tablet working, and I want to "tell" phone to behave the same. In Gingerbread, I could click menu button at my home screen and choose "Edit" and all my desktop screen will minimize and I can add screen or remove screen (including all widgets and shortcuts) just by dragging the screen to the bottom where it says Remove.
I could not find any way to do this in ICS?
