I just bought a 10.2" Flytouch 8 tablet with Android 4.0.4. In the Security menu I don't see any screen lock line to lock the screen; so I cannot lock the screen.
According to the online guides I consulted on the web it should be there. How I can access the screen lock menu?

I recently got a Gionee ELife e6 phone running Android 4.2.1. It seems to be missing the "Password" option to unlock the screen. Is this related to this particular device? Or is there a way to enable / bring back the "Password" option? Screen Lock setting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had the slide lock/accidental touch lock disabled in 2.1 bone stock phone. Got the 2.2 OTA. Installed without issue and has addressed many of my previous complaints (VPN, WiFi, speaker volume). Under settings / location&security, in the security section, I see only two options 'set up screen lock' (pattern/pin/password) and 'security lock timer'. Where is the option to turn on the slide lock? VZW support was completely clueless, as I have (sadly) come to expect. They transferred me to Motorola support, who says there should be a 3rd option there for the screen lock.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat has happened to my Lock Screen. Only yesterday I had to upgrade to 4.3 and my Swipe feature on the home screen was working fine. I don't like the pin option, I know there are reasons for it, security etc, but all the threads I have seen say enable multiple widgets or some such thing on lock screen, well after my upgrade it seems it is very different from what others are seeing in their lock screens.
I have tried scrolling left to right on the lock screen - nothing. I have looked through my widgets - nothing. I have attached a screen shot of what my lock screen looks like after the upgrade and I am not even sure how it went from the swipe option to the pin option because I did not intentionally change it knowing I prefer the swipe option.
Here are the issues I am having:
1. Can't lock screen while in a call. Red button just hangs up the call.
2. Apps cannot be installed to sd card. Internal Phone Storage after a device wipe shows about 136MB free. I downloaded about 5 or 6 apps and the phone ran out of room. I deleted the apps, but the space was not reclaimed. This is why I had to reset the device. Now I am afraid to install apps without filling it up again.
3. Bluetooth does no always connect back to my headset. sometime I have to turn on/off bluetooth on phone. Sometimes I have to reboot phone. One time I installed Pandora and bluetooth would not work until I figured out that removing Pandora would fix it.
4. Camera is no good.
5. WIFI cannot connect to an N router running in mixed mode (a,b,g,n). You must "dumb" down the router to b,g mode in order to connect the phone. This means hat other users who have no issues with N have to suffer the reduced speed of b,g.
6. No way to "EXIT" an app to reclaim RAM.
7. KB not as accurate as the iphone.
8. I have disabled HTC Sense and it is still slow. For example, often when I load favorites, nothing displays for about 3-4 seconds. This is not acceptable.
Overall, not a very tested or mature OS. I feel like I should not be starting from scratch like this. The folks at Android are guilty of using the consumer as a guinea pig. This is not acceptable. We are not reinventing the wheel, so why are obvious features missing?
I recently noticed that the share option was missing from the all apps menu, can restore it? I'm currently using a rooted HTC explorer running android 2.3.5. Please check the screenshot for more info.

Im having an issue with my gmail notifications. I still want to receive gmail notifications on my home screen (the app icon where the image shows how many emails) however I dont want it to play a sound.
I googled how to remove the sound, but all the walk throughs start with tapping a 'menu' button (three vertical square dots) at the bottom left in the gmail app. I dont see this menu button - see image below
I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
Is it possible to lock widgets so that changes cannot be made to the 4.2.2 lock screen?

Eclipse complained that they were missing, and I checked by opening the jar file and found them missing. I have found them in SDK 2.0.1 though.
To anyone who is developing on similar platform (Linux, SDK 1.6), would you check your jar file and let me know whether yours contains the "lock" and "unlock" methods?
A Tasker task that when I'm on the lockscreen, I can tap or double tap to turn the screen off. I've looked in the Tasker tasks and I'm unable to find anything for this. I already use the Nova gesture+ScreenOff app to turn the screen off when I'm unlocked and at the homescreen, which works perfectly. The only thing Nova can't do it turn the screen off from the lockscreen.

I'm developing a game for android, and texture problem has been reported on Motorola Droid phones. (Missing/white background in the menu and during the game).
I've tried to fix this with changing the texture sizes to power of 2 (I used jpeg images as backgrounds, and they wasn't power of 2, however this worked fine on all my test devices).
Those of you who have root access in there devices may have noticed icons missing on there home screens. If you are wondering why this is due to using Titanium Backup to move apps to the SD card. This only happens with certain apps, usually only the ones that can't be moved from the devices settings. To fix this simply move said apps back to internal storage and all will be well.

Then I've changed the Settings to Samsung keyboard and French layout (same latin letters) and switched off the screen. Now my pass is not working as I cannot change layout to English (the settings button on keyboard is grey). So would you recommend any solution as I don't want to wipe all the data. Is it possible to change layout to original English or reset password somehow?

I am coming from Windows Mobile 6.5 and was using PocketShield as my lock screen replacement. One thing that I am looking for in an android app is..
1. The ability to enter pin or pattern from the lock screen app while also displaying all the new features of the app. One screen to rule them all.
2. I now use WidgetLocker and it works great except that I have to enter the pattern after sliding my app. What is the point? Either I enter the pattern before I select the app from the home screen or after when sliding. I thought I was able to use the app on the slicker "outside" of pattern security.
The boy was set to release by drawing on the screen. Now after he has made a number of attempts is displayed when the message "Too many attempts to enter the sequence" and requires the google account. The problem is that you do not remember your credentials, or because you do not connect to the wifi network is not able to validate credentials.To get around this I did the following tests:
1) attempt to enter the recovery mode by pressing volume + and power
2) attempt via adb with the command "adb reboot recovery"
But every time you restart it is as if there is no recovery mode and starts normally and returns the usual screen that asks for credentials.
I also run this procedure:
> Adb-d shell
# Sqlite3 data / data / com.android.providers.settings / databases / settings.db
sqlite> update system set value = 0 where name = 'lock_pattern_autolock';
sqlite>. exit
# exit
but when I reboot I get the same error message with the introduction of the credentials.
So I bought this TV the other day and along with it came this non-branded Samsung Galaxy Y rip off. I decided to make a quick buck off it by selling it online, but the problem is, It comes with pattern lock screen and a combination that I know nothing of. I tried putting my SIM into and calling, but the furthest I got was the contacts and messages tab. How else can I reset the phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just encrypted my LG G2 and chose I believe a 17 character random password which includes punctuation. It's hard enough to remember and I only wish to enter it when I power on the phone. However it seems I have to enter it every time the phone locks itself. I don't want that, it's a heck of inconvenience. I just want swipe to unlock, not no pin or no pattern and only want to enter the big as password when the phone turns on. I am rooted and on the latest AT&T firmware.
