Where in kernel source I should look at events that causes screen off and on? I know there is early_suspend and resume but it looks like my phone awake state is much more longer so I try to find out how to bind to this events in kernel.

I compiled it and I have the zImage.img. Using Finless ROM Flash Tool I flashed Finless 2.1 ROM, and works great. Then I flashed the same ROM but instead of the kernel that comes with that ROM I put my zImage there. As result my pen is not booting, and it's stuck in a black screen with two penguins..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought that Action was preeminent during intent resolution and if the intent had the same action as the intent filter, it would be considered a match regardless of data, if the filter did not specify anything. So I was very surprised to find that supplying action+data where filter had only action, causes it to fail. In the code below, if you comment out line 47 so that data is *not* sent, only then it resolves correctly. To get it to work with the data (an id that is simply a String), what mime type should I specify in the intent filter?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have one of my screens the the People Widget (HTC) and I was wondering if any of you knew how to remove the default action for a person on that screen.For example, I have the favorites group linked and after I clicked on a person and texted them, the Favorites widet now links that person's icon to texting them every time. Anyone know how to make it not do this?I would prefer the option of either setting a default action or just opening the contact so I could choose to email, text, GPS etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Bugles Beast v0.9 (although when I go into Phone Info it says "Build number Bugles Beast 1.2"). Anyway, I downloaded the Chevy 5 slot 1GHz kernel and named it update.zip and when I install it says it's installing fine but when I go to reboot my phone freezes up at the Motorola screen. I have even tried changing to frequencies supported by the kernel (250, 550) but it still won't work...keeps freezing.

1. I updated to stock 2.1 using the sprint update tool.
2. I followed the video tutorial to root the phone
3. then i used joey's page (http://www.joeyconway.com/sdx/custom/index.php) to install the his kernel (joeykrim-SDX-kernel v2.0.4 (includes root)).
I have done nothing else to the phone but this and removing a couple of bloatware apps (i checked the list of permitted deletions before i removed anything.) I have not installed a new recovery..at least i dont think that I did as part of one of the other operations I performed (as an aside, i am not really sure what the custom recovery is or what it is used for, so i didnt install it...i guess i need to read up more...)
So that is where I am..but i have a couple of questions.
1) i am now having issues with my wifi connection - the signal reception is very spotty in areas where i should have atleast 2 bars of reception, and the wifi often cuts out completely....Is there any know corellation between joey's kernel and this wifi issue? I have searched the forums and have found nothing that answers this.
2) Is there an easy way to get back to the stock kernel? I have read that i can get back to stock everything by using the sprint download center where I did my original 2.1 update. But is there a way to get back to just the stock kernel without wiping the phone?
how to add a spinner to the action bar of an app. I looked everywhere online for at least 2 hours with no step by step tutorials. - Enter in Recents, press home and immediately press Recents button.

Is it possible to enable/disable action bar icons? The scenario is that on the action bar there are two search icons, but they do different jobs, one searches the contents of the app while the other filters the listview (searches the table of contents only).
So if a user only wanted to use only one search method, is it possible to make an option in the settings on the app to enable/disable action bar icons?
I'm on Note 2 with Android 4.1.2 and every time I click on a link in the stock browser (specially on youtube) the "Complete action using" keeps popping up.

I'm working on an input device that has a button that I'd like to act both as a home button when pressed by itself, but also work as a modifier for the other buttons on the device. I know you can do this in the kcm file with other buttons, and have something like:

I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo (MT15i Hallon) with the newest Nightly CM10 installed. My problem is, that in Google Now, when I ask "What's this song" it says "This action is not supported in your country". I tried everything, changing language, timezone, default google search engine, nothing worked.
My question would be, is there a way to edit a file with rootexplorer to gain ability of using this feature?
My new LG G2. It has this shortcut if you long press volume up/down it starts quick memo/camera. But quick memo is useless for me I'd rather love to start a widget (a tasker task). I tryed several app's and xposed framework modules but I can't get a Widget working with the remapping.

I did some further research and a quick search of the AOSP code. This revealed that the functionality is yet to be implemented. which obviously explains why the trigger wasn't being fired . The device-removed and service-exited triggers are also missing.
I currently have bekit 1ghz kernet installed, but I was interested in trying out some other kernels. Can I just install them via Rom Manager over the first kernel? Or is there some kind of uninstall process I should use first?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe know that the ROM is installed to the /system partition. Likewise the kernel ie boot.img is installed to the /boot partition of the device. I tried hard but could not find any reference to such a /boot partition(directory) in the root of the device. I would like know whether it is hidden or disguised as something else. The script that flashes the custom kernels has the following line

(What is the block code for system and other partitions?)
Is mmcblk0p9 the /boot partition? Moreover /dev/block has no reference to boot or mmcblk0p9. So where exactly is the kernel being extracted? The boot.img comes packaged as zImage + ramdisk, In other words where are zImage and ramdisk extracted to, in the root file system and in what form? Is the ramdisk responsible for the creation of the root files system(/dev, /proc, /data. /system, /sys, /sbin etc)?
