Is there anyway I can display my full name, instead of my Android Central username? I prefer to not make a new account.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having a major problem with my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. The internal memory of the phone should be 11.25GB (even though it should be 16, but I know how these stuff actually work), Surly I have an extra external SD card, but that's not the problem. The internal memory keeps being filled with nothing.here is a picture to demonstrate the situation:
As you can see the total space is 11.25 GB and if you count the applications, pictures, videos and miscellaneous files, they constitute no more than 2GB, which means that there should be no less than 9 GB left as available in the phone's internal memory, but as you can see I have got 5.84 GB available. How did that happen?
I have rebooted the system yesterday when the internal memory was completely full (even though I have only 2GB filled). And I have a feeling that by tomorrow I will get the memory completely full without downloading or adding anything on the phone.
And don't tell me I should clean cache or whatever that thing is, because I have already done that, and it's not working.
I have bought a new charger for the car which is capable of supplying 2.1A. When i connect my HTC One X it only see's it as a USB connection and not a dedicated power supply with more available.

I'm basically creating a bitmap based on the view dimensions inside the surfaceChanged(SurfaceHolder, int, int, int) callback using the reported width and height parameters. When I print the width and height parameters received by the surfaceChanged method, those are 569x320.
For reference, the native screen resolution of the phone is 854x480.What am I missing?
I got a notification that my filesystem start to be full, I was really surprise so I take a look to it with the shell and here is the result

So where is the others 1.2G ?
A while back I tried to install CM on my friends LG G2. We installed CWM, made a backup and everything went well, until we were done flashing the ROM. It wouldn't boot, and after a few tries we decided to use download mode to reset everything back to stock. Everything is fine now, except I think the backup is still there. There's only a little more space left, but he only has about 4gb of data on the phone. We looked at all the folders and nothing was taking up all that space.
How can we delete that stuff taking up all the space? Would a normal factory reset work, or do we need to get CWM on there again to delete that backup?
Because im charging my phone over night, and destroy my battery over night, im searching for an app that will wake me up in the night when the battery it fully charged Like a alarm but only when the battery is charged

That said, I don't want to completely loose all of my data. My question is: I got a screen viewer on my computer to display a live feed from my droid, and I am looking for the easiest way to back up as much data as possible. I don't think I can do a nandroid backup because of the broken screen, but I can definitely root and backup using the feed on my computer.

I have downloaded several pdf ebooks and uploaded to play book via Google play book app. When I try to read them, that pdf files pages are not fully fit to the screen. But when I read the Google play auto added books, they are fitted with the screen height and width. Is it a pdf file issue? If it's my pdf issue, how do I correct them?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried out a few roms on my motorola defy plus, and as of today I have absolultely no space on internal memory, although it is supposed to be 1GB in size.
I'm thinking that this happened, because every time I tried out a new rom, I installed all the applications I use all over again.I tried clearing the cache, the Dalvik cache from recovery, but it didn't work.
In this way I am unable to install any aplications whatsoever, whenever I try to open the Market, the phone hangs for a while and then reboots, actually whatever I do with it, it reboots, for example opening the contact manager, trying to manage the apps and so on.
i rooted my T15A tablet with "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v17" tool and then installed/flased "SuperCharger_Starter_Kit_RC12". After the flash my internal storage shows up with 0 byte and i am not able to install any app. A factory reset did not work too.
I've got another original T15A tablet and want to create a full backup of this and flash it to the bricked one.I found some guides on how to create a backup by connecting to an adb shell. This guides are all device specific and i now dont know.what to backup under /dev/blocks/ ....
- how to do a full backup / restore?
- Maybe we just can fix the 0 byte error (but i didnt find generic solution about that)
Code:
root@android:/ # ls -al /dev/block/
ls -al /dev/block/

This question seems a little (a lot) odd. because naturally we want our battery to get fully charged to get the most stamina out of it.
but i read a while ago that for Li-Io batteries the most efficient charge range are 10%-90% so basically that means the full charge -discharge cycles aren't good for the battery but harmful as it cause them to die faster..
anyway i considered this reading as a good theory until i bought a sony vaio laptop which had a battery preservation feature (it limits the maximal charge to 80% or 50% depending on the option) and for more that a year and a half my battery still performed well (less than 4% degradation) so i thought this was a real deal after all.
still the use cases for a laptop and smartphone are vastly different (the laptop can sit with 50% charge just fine since it will be on charge most of the time while the smartphone has to get the maximum amount of energy to last without a charger)
so is there (or can it be made) an app that can limit the charge (to 80% or 90%)
I did a search on the site but unfortunately I have not been able to find it .... I could use the full rom to load on clone s3 I9320 with MTK6575 (N9300) .... the components disassembled looks identical to the model we are talking about here on the forum N9300 + MTK6577 ... but obviously this fits different processor that is MTK6575 fact I did a test with the rom of 'N9300 + but does not go .. because of course the file marked scatter of N9300 MTK6577 + ...... detects when loading as MTK6575 and does not go forward .... so I need the original full 's I9320 N9300 MTK6575 ...

how to display the entirety of notifications for Android. I would like to make all notifications look like ESPN ScoreCenter. With ScoreCenter the notification has no title but the notifications can go up to 3 or 4 lines and the whole info is displayed. With everything else, however, about 5-7 words are displayed and then it fades off and you can't read the rest. I'm on the HTC One X

I have a little experience using computers from late 1995 Year, and from year 2000 I am using also Linux from time to time, and very rare but it was a delight freeBSD. I have no experience on Android and MacOs.
Now, I all my family (father, mother, girlfriend and I) changed the phones on Android which is Linux based, but for ARM processors.
Anyway, I have played a little with Android 4 x86 on my laptop. From, my point of view, a Android Smartphone is just a little computer like an raspberry pi / pandaboard / beagle board. So, a mini computer with an Arm processor running a very small and tiny operating system max 8 Gb, when on my gentoo install I had been using about 30-40 Gb. I know, the size can be affected by the compiling flags but anyway.
Now, on all my system I had, from my experience I did 2 Backups, like this:
My laptop is backed-up on the External Hardisk number 1, and the External Hardisk number 1 is backed-up on the External Hardisk number 2.So, as it is a good practice to have a backup handy, I keep 2 backups in 2 different location in case of hardware failure / water flood etc. Some of the files I need are backed up in the cloud, on the internet.
I use to make IMAGES of the Operating System partition, and of the mbr , and of the partition table, with software like Acronis True Image, Paragon, DriveImage XML, Norton Ghost, Clone Zilla.
When I had to do data recovery I did an Acronis "sector-by-sector" approach image of the hardisk, and I recovered files from that image.
I assume that maybe I will need to get root on one or two phones, and one phone need's to be unlocked from the carrier.
Before doing this I would like to make a full backup of the phones.
1) How can I make a FULL backup of the android phones? In this moment my mother phone is a samsung galaxy mini2 Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 s6500 and mine is Sony Xperia L
2) a) If I will "unlock" the phone from the carrier (locked on orange, but i wish to use also Vodafone, I tim, I wind, moviestar, o2 etc)
b) If I will "root" the phone to gain administrator acces on it
After step A) and B) if I will restore the original backup, the phone will be "locked" back to Orange, and "un-rooted", or it will be "unlocked" and "un-rooted"?
3) Instead of having an hardisk like computer have, I guess the smartphone is using an "usb-stick/sd-card/ssdhdd"-like memory for storage of the operating system, so how can I see the partition table, the mbr, on the device?
so flash a rom but didnt like it and had to reflash my original firware. problem 1. didnt know it so i used the lg too putting in model number and imei and it told me i need V10B_00 (vodafone spain)
Flashed with KDZ no problems, Hard reset phone to exit boot loop booted to phone fine, read sim asked for pin fine, connected to network full bars fine, connect to 3g no problem all is working, EXCEPT! go to make a call goes direct to call ended. people cant call me either.
sim works fine in another phone so its not the sim or network.

tried flashing radio v10b zip wouldnt even recognise the sim flashed v10a.zip recognises sim but again no calls
how can i preform a total exit from stock browser in ics (with sense4)?
i mean, all the time that i'm exsiting from the browser, when i open it again it shows me the last page i was, instead my home-page like in the computer browser. so i wanna know how i'll be able to preform a totall exit, so when i'll enter again the browser it will show me my home-page?
When I go to system settings -> security -> encrypt phone, with phone fully charged and plugged in and a suitable PIN set, the phone reboots back to lock screen but does not appear to do anything to actually encrypt the phone. After reboot, the option remains looking identical in the settings menu. No error messages or the like.
The lock screen works fine (PIN required), the PIN is suitably long, everything is updated, etc.
I'm not sure what the issue is. I rooted & changed ROM immediately on getting the phone (it's new), so I don't know whether it would've worked w/ stock bootloader / rom / etc.
I'm running:
Nexus 4 (android 4.2.2)
ParanoidAndroid 3.65 (pa_mako-3.65-20130712 + pa_gapps-full-4.2-20130710)
TWRP bootloader (openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-mako)
