Games :: New Columns Clone FREE
Oct 20, 2010I've posted a new clone of the classic game Columns in the market. It's name is "Columns of color Jewells" if you want to try it.
The target is to make lines of three or more gems of the same color (in any direction), the more gems dissapearing at once, the more points earned. You can rotate the position of the gems falling by double tapping in the screen.

Oct 3, 2010I just released Word Warz yesterday on the android market. Still looking for some valuable feedback! Tell me what your think about my first application.
Game Description:
Word Warz is a competitive spelling game. In the game players take turns adding letters to a board to spell a word. However, you don't want to be the last person to spell the word, because you will be out of the round. The strategy in the game centers around picking the letters at critical points that will force other players to spell a word. Also, a player can bluff by adding a letters that don't spell a word, and risk being called out by the next player. If a player calls a bluff, and the previous player was bluffing they are removed from the round. If the previous player wasn't bluffing the player that called the bluff is removed from the round. The last man standing during each round receives a point. The first player to 7 points wins the game.
Right now the game supports four offline human players, and 3 different computer players. The demo supports 2 players(either 2 human players or a human player versus chubs(the easy computer player)

May 21, 2010I am getting started in android development and I really want to create some form of online game. My goal is to start out with a turn- based game and move onto advanced multiplayer games. I want to have users associated with their google account, provide some sort of matchmaking to pair people together, have their stats stored in a database, and use the stats for various leaderboards and such. I have read over an older discussion on this list at http://www.mail-archive.com/android-developers@googlegroups.com/msg75... . There was a lot of good information that I gathered but I still have some questions. What I have so far is an apache web server on a laptop that I don't need right now (2.0Ghz Core 2, 3GB Ram).
I have never really used Java (although I'm learning it for android), but I know C/C++, Perl, and Python. I am in the process of learning mysql databases, which will help with a lot of the stats features I want to implement. I have built a HTTP/1.1 persistent server in C before which did JSON parsing and used a threadpool so I am somewhat familiar with the low-level network calls needed. However, I'm thinking that a free server software must exist that would offer more security and better load-balancing than the server I created. One solution I am thinking is to just use the Apache web server, have android make a request to a perl module I create on the server, and then have the server look it up on a database and so forth. Then the server will just keep sending back the player locations or whatever. Will the Apache web server slow me down for what I am trying to do or I am looking at everything the wrong way? Are there some settings in Apache that I could tweak to give me better latency such as persistent connections?

Sep 21, 2010It appears Camel Games is now giving these three games away. I'm also left wondering what happened to their other games such as Super Tumble, as only the Lite version is left. Maybe that's going free, too? Hyper Jump is also missing from my latest search (whereas the Lite version is there). I'm somewhat in shock as these are some quality games!? I've had 3 online chats and have received different answers each time. In my last chat, they told me every possible answer, yes, no, depends, doesn't depend, what the website says, not what the website says.I tried to order earlier today, and I thought on the checkout screen it said free activation.Not sure whats changed. Now when I try it lists a $35 activation fee. But on the left of the screen is a box that says free activation, Friday-Monday, will be credited on 1st or 2nd bill.Things I changed was logging in through my university website (discount), and trying a 1yr commitment.I've been told several times that the free activation is only on a 2yr commitment. But I don't see it say that anywhere online.This whole process is not inspiring confidence in Verizon. I cannot get an answer to a simple question about the supposed free activation. They make the rules overly complex and keep changing them. They reps are clueless. Reminds me too much of Sprint.
