View 2 RepliesI have a Samsung S4 - US Verizon - SCH-i545 Build VRUEMK2. It is currently on version 4.3. I've done some research on rooting my device recently but have not gone through with the procedure. In my research, I've read that once you root your device the boot menu will come up with an unlocked deadbolt symbol and a message that reads something about a Custom Rom.
What's tripping me out is that recently I started my phone and it shows the Custom with unlocked deadbolt on screen, but I have NOT rooted my device. What the heck is going on? Could my equipment be compromised? Are there known apps that would change the boot menu on the S4.... I'm at a loss here and whenever I google this I just find instructions for rooting...
Just thought I'd show you what I got running on my EVO. I take absolutely no credit for this, just saw a thread somewhere in the incredible forum about a boot animation and did it. Takes no ROOT, just install the SDK and a small amount of knowledge on how to use the ADB tool. Here is a video of it on my EVO.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi cant for the life of me to get this to work. it allways boots up with a black screen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to add a custom sound when your phone boots up? Im thinking something like the THX sound.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI pretty much have the custom boot animations figured out... It seems to work whether I put bootanimation.zip in /data/local or /system/media no problem... but the one thing I can't figure out is how to get a sound to play. I've tried every combination I can think of... boot.mp3 in the zip file, android_audio.mp3 in the zip file... tried the zip without the mp3, just placing the mp3 in the same directory as the zip (and also tried both names that way, in both directories stated above). Is there something I'm supposed to add to the desc.txt file? What am I missing? The only info I can find for the Eris is just "put a boot.mp3 in the zip file" which is just not working...
View 24 Replies View RelatedWas wondering if there is anyone out there on this forum that might make me a custom boot animation. I suck at photoshop. I have tried to do it but it looks terrible. The one I want should be simple (I think)for a person who knows what they are doing. All I want is the stock boot animation droid word highlighted in neon green like a lot of blue ones I see where it splashes blue with highlights and the red eye turned the same neon green with my name highlighted neon green like the word droid but name will be above the eye. Kind of like this but with my name from sort of beginning to end.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a custom boot animation on my phone that I downloaded and it works but I would like to show it down a little bit. It runs through the animation really fast. If it was a little short it would be great. If I go into the boot animation.zip there are two files. One is a file that just has a few numbers in it the other is a bunch of pictures. Does that number file determine the speed it displays those pictures?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is an easy way to change the boot animation on my EVO as well as the splash screen. I do realize there is a long way to do it without root, but I am operating from a Mac. If there were some rooted apps that do this, please point me to them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo prior to manually installing the 2.2 update, I had a custom boot animation with sound. The update ran fine, no issues, and I knew I would have to re-install the custom boot animation files. However, I followed the same steps as I did prior to 2.2 (see below), and again, no errors. After reboot, I'm still seeing the Sprint 4G boot screen. Can anyone else confirm? Looks to me like it's been locked down.
From XDA:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local
adb reboot
I have been searching around the forums for some custom boot animations, and I noticed that there is not one consolidated thread for all of these animations. So, I thought I would start this thread where everyone can post their custom animations. I just rooted my Droid, and I am looking for the default eye animation and the nexus one boot animation. I would love to see all the custom boot animations everyone has made.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've tried pushing the bootanimation.zip using ADB, but every time it just boots with the new bootscreen. anyone else having this problem...anyone with a solution?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi installed jellyblast on my galaxy ace gt-s5830i, used it for couple of days and then restored cwm backup to stock rom. after about a week the phoen booted itself and got into bootloop. when i tried to wipe data got this mesaage : E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl11.
* i tried installing cwm backup
* i tried installing stock rom from samfirmware using odin with/without pit.
* i tried multiformatter for changing ext4 to rfs and then again tried unstalling stock rom and also custom roms.
* i tried wipe firmware package.
* phone enters in bootloop when i flash stock rom using odin and get stuck on boot when i install custom rom through cwm.
compile a ROM based on CM10; what would make that ROM go into a never-ending boot animation on a clean flash (wipe data/cache/dalvik), yet boot up without a problem when dirty flashed over a CM9 variant. One might think that since a dirty flash over CM9 works, what about dirty flashing over a CM10 variant? What if it acts just like performing a clean flash and never gets past the boot animation?
Lets compound this by adding that once a successful boot-up after the dirty CM9 flash has occured; if one goes into recovery and wipes data/cache/dalvik, the ROM goes back into a never-ending boot animation.
I'm trying to put a custom boot sound on my Galaxy Ace S5830 which has the Custom ROM: Pacman All in 1 I cant seem to get any sound out of the thing. Things I've tried:
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav
/system/etc/poweron.wav
/system/media/PowerOn.wav
/system/media/poweron.wav
/system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.wav
/system/media/audio/ui/poweron.wav
/system/media/audio/ui/Bootsound.wav
I finally figured out how to get my custom boot animation running. My friend is working on the graphics for my custom animation. I will post a video and full how to writeup when I'm done!
View 49 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the bootanimation.zip for the droid 2 and all instructions and tips say:
If your rooted it's as easy as putting it in the /data/local folder!
Well there is a /data folder on my Nexus and it's empty. If I try to make a new folder it says "cannot create new folder" in File Explorer that came with CM6.1. Astro greys out the create folder button. What am I missing? Also I saw that you can ADB push it. WTF does that mean? I know how to do some fastboot stuff, is it the same? Reboot the phone with the USB connected and run commands on my PC?
I've found plenty of tutorials on how to get a custom boot animation on my droid. First question, they all say to use the "terminal". Is this just an app? Secondly it asks to copy a file in the systems folder, can i pull this from a nandroid backup? I love the boot animation from smoke themed liq frozen yogurt, just not the ROM itself.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI followed all the instructions on the other really long thread. I am having one issue though. I installed SDK and the drivers, that all went perfect. The only issue I am having is with the actual bootanimation.zip. I am thoroughly stuck. After I download a bootanimation.zip it shows up in winrar with 4 files (loading, eye, android, and the desc.txt) I know it has to go in tools. I am just not sure how? Do I add each folder or is there a way to add them all? I also know the name has to be bootanimation.zip. I tried a few different ways and pushed it to my Inc. But I cant get it to boot with the animation.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI finished my boot animation and uploaded it to YouTube, so I thought I'd share it again. (Last time I embedded a .gif file, and it wouldn't play on the DROID.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I decided to hijack the "Red Rage" boot animation and use it as the base of my animation. Mine just has some Georgia Bulldog love to it. Also I have modified my boot logo and no longer have the "M" its now a lot nicer. I will include the bootanimation.zip in case anyone wants this. Just place it in the /data/local/ folder. Do not Unzip it, leave it how it is. If you have another one there just rename it with a .bak extension in case you don't like mine. Its stretched a little vertically, not sure why not too noticeable tough.

So I've tried to flash like 3 different ROMs onto my Nexus One and every time I reboot, it just loops the boot up animation. And now when I do a Nandroid Restore, it says WiFi unable to start.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the droid world but catching on quickly. i have a droid incredible, rooted and updated radio and running sky raider 2.5.2. i am trying to use a custom boot animation from droid boots. i have tried using adb and it puts the file in data/local but the problem i have is it still runs the one in system/media. i bought the root explorer app and followed another guide to pasting over top of original zip in system/media but then i get a message saying the file being pasted is too large and cannot be completed. i reboot and it hasn't changed still says sky raider. i know its a boot animation but i dunno its something for me to play around with.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIm not sure if there is a line of commands im not using but im trying to follow jcases instructions over at xda and i cant seem to get the bootimage to work, it says it dosent find my device, not sure what i am doin wrong, the commands are probably linux, im on windows, duno if it matters. i just get error device not found, i was using a different phone on adb yesturday.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've seen the Motorola Droid users doing this, but I'd like my own custom animation for the boot up screen on the Galaxy. Anyone know how you go about that? I tried copying a bootanimation.zip file in there as per the Droid instructions but looks like the Galaxy doesn't use it. Where are the boot up screen/animations stored on the Galaxy?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone have a link to the transformer boot screen? It was posted in this forum as a main thread - cant find it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make my own boot animation (A simple android kitkat logo), but when I put it in /system/media/bootanimation.zip and reboot the phone, it goes to black screen.
I followed the steps described in that guide and read that post, but they didn't share the solution and the mediafire link is dead. I'm attaching my current bootanimation.zip
I was able to unlock the device and install CWM. I wasn't paying attention when i did a wipe, and didn't see it was unable to wipe /data and several other locations. Its probably because its encrypted. I thought it would have asked for the password to access those areas to wipe them. So i just went ahead and flashed Cyanogenmod 10 nightly build. Now it wont boot past asus logo. Is there a way to flash a rom on an encrypted tablet?
