I'm using a Drioid Eris version 2.1. When I turn on my phone it stays on the starting screen (the androids on skateboards) and won't go to the next one. I think it may have happened after I updated my SD Card Reader app because that's the only thing I can think of that caused this problem, thought it might be something else. How do I fix this?

Alright so I was on froyo stock image frg01b rooted. I tried to install nextheme over it. I tried to go into recovery, but got the exclamation point. Went back into froyo, flash the alternative recovery, then flashed back to clockwork. It goes into recovery fine now.

Now try to go back into recovery to flash backup. It wont go into CW and now I see an exclamation point. Now I went into the stock recovery menu, wiped data did factory reset. Wiped cache.

What did I do?
I tried putting stock 2.1 on SD and renamed it update.zip and tried to flash with the stock recovery, but it says failed to access /sdcard .zip and then go back to the (stock) recovery menu. Clockword is gone and so is any and all ROMs.
I think I might be in serious trouble here. I'm new to smartphones in general and wanted to root my Evo so that I could get rid of that annoying bloatware and maybe find some cool functionality.I'm new to forums too, but I did dig through a ton before I posted this and didn't see a solution to my problem.I used unrevoked 3 to root the phone. Worked fine. Tried to install Fresh through Rom Manager, but couldn't get it to flash by installing from sd card. Sort of abandoned that and moved on to Bugless Beast. I downloaded that to my computer transferred to my phone and tried "install from sd card" again. No luck, it just gave me the startup screen "htc evo 4g" and stayed on.I used nandroid to restore to my previous settings with no problem. I decided to partition the hardrive and try to flash bugless beast again. This would have been fine, but I didn't realize that partitioning removed the clockwise back up file.So, now I don't have anything to restore back to and it is stuck on the "htc evo 4g" screen.I can still get into the hboot, so its not a total loss yet.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo this morning, I put my phone on a little pile of clothes on my bathroom sink. I take my shower, get out and it's still sitting there. I tool around for ten minutes, and of course, after sitting there perfectly for almost 25 minutes, I go to brush my teeth with the water running and doesn't it pick that 1 minute window to slide off into the water. It was in the water for maybe half second. It was not submerged or have water run on it. It was back down in the water. I grabbed it, immediately rubbed the water off and removed the back cover and battery. Everything was dry. I thought I dodged a bullet. I out the battery back in and restarted. I came back a minute later and it was off. I tried to restart, nothing. I plugged it in, and the charge indicator did not come back on. I pulled the battery again, and blew into where the battery connects and noticed water coming out! Not a lot, but it was there. It either got in through the HDMI or USB, or, more likely though the back of the kickstand.
Stupid me thought I got it all out, put the battery back in and tried again. This time it made it to the Sprint 4G screen then died. I put the phone in a bag of uncooked rice. When I got to work, I pulled it out and after shaking the rice out of it (let me tell you how much rice got into to phone!!), I used compressed air in it. I didn't see any more water. I put it back with the rice and am now just scared to death. Not sure how long I should wait to put the battery back in and try it. So, this is the second evo I had as I exchanged the first one for screen separation issues. I noticed that the first phone I had water damage indicators on the outside under the cover. Now, I don't see them. If they were still where they used to be, I'd be in the clear since it never got wet back there. The battery indicator is fine. Just can't find the other ones now and I'm scared to death that when I tried to restart I may have permanently ruined my phone and I have no insurance.
Turned on the phone this morning, it loaded fine. It then rebooted and sits at the HTC screen. I didnt even get a chance to do anything.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently tried flashing Demagless 2.0.8 and now my phone is stuck on the HTC Black logo screen while the phone is starting up I have done a clean wipe and reflashed demageless 2.0.7.2 and also fresh 2d but now I get the same problem previously I've had fresh 2d installed and worked perfectly fine. I can still access my root but no matter what rom I flash it won't start up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought my Droid X a couple of weeks ago (2.2 and Rooted). It wanted to do some auto app updates and I told it to do them all not sure if it was before or after that that I noticed a red light by the ear "piece/speaker" and the phone was on and a battery level warning came on which I thought was premature. I plugged in the power cord the light went to green and I looked over a few minutes later and it was dead. I could be a little off on what happened when but that's what happened.
It wont power on now and I've tried holding a few different buttons while powering on and still nothing. I did check the settings the other day and it was successfully backing itself up not sure how to use that backup though. I just looked over after typing this post and the Motorola "M" was on the screen but I couldn't get it to do anything so I pulled the battery and tried again to boot it and nothing.
I was doing a restore from another thread back to v6 and everything was going smoothly my phone went to a screen that says Downloading do no unplug...so after the software on the pc kept telling me no connection i would just keep trying again and after so many attemps it didnt let me retry anymore...so after trying hard reboot removing battery etc. this screen remains....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to root my phone using a windows xp machine... I installed the drivers as needed, set up the phone as required and started unrevoked 3. I selected the hboot usb as required by the process, and unrevoked ran until the point that the phone reboots to the clockworkmod recovery screen. Now, Unrevoked still says "Rebooting into recovery," and my phone is sitting on the screen with the following options:
-reboot system now
-apply sdcard:update.zip
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-nandroid
-partitions menu
-advanced
-+++++Go Back+++++
It's like unrevoked doesn't detect that the phone has rebooted into recovery. I watched videos of the phone being rooted, and mine followed all the right steps... at this point in the video, once it gets to this screen, some text pop up, like it's running a script or something, and then the root is complete.
since it hung on this screen, I don't know where to proceed from here.
Last night I exchanged my Fascinate for the Incredible due to some really poor call quality issues. Well, I am not a huge fan of Sense - mainly due to the swipe down action of answering calls and unlocking the phone but I digress. So I decided to root. I've rooted several phones before (Eris, Ally, Fascinate). I flashed the DInc last night using the unrevoked one touch method. Then I installed ROM Manager - paid version. ROM manager thought I still had the Ally so I went ahead and flashed the CWM recovery image included with ROM Manager and I think that caused a problem. Things just weren't working right so I searched the forum and found an image that I had to rename, put on the root of the SD card and then flash.
After doing that I was then able to flash the Skyraider ROM that I downloaded in ROM Manager. What I'm really looking for is a ROM with a Vanilla dialer so I tried flashing Cyanogen's 6.0.2 from ROM Manager. It downloaded but hangs at the HTC Incredible screen on bootup. Thought there may be an issue with the flash so I downloaded and installed it manually and it still hung at the boot up screen. I thought it was a problem with the cyanogen ROM so I gave up but I just tried another and am having the same problem. I flashed the MIUI ROM manually and it booted up the same screen and hung there as well. What am I doing wrong?
just updated my Htc hero (GSM) firmware 1.5 to 2.1 through the system settings>update without Rooting it ;( Now it wont go ahead of boot screen, just hangs on the hero screen
1) Tried removing battery/sdcard didn work
2) Recovery mode - It is showing me a Hero with a triangle having " ! " mark
3) In System recovery utiltity (home+power)
- tried wipe data, it works
- but when i try apply sdcard:update.zip -> E:cant open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file/directory).Installation Failed
it also shows me this error : E:can't open/cache/recovery/command
I've a rooted hero running SenseROM 2.1. If I start the superuser permissions app directly or via apps which make a root permissions request (titanium backup, some of the screenshot applications) the SU request program hangs with a plain black screen. It doesn't even respond to a force-close request from the "program has stopped responding" dialog.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen i plug in the usb charger or connect it to my car dock. When i plug it in, the phone reboots and goes to the droid logo/droid eye screen and hangs there. I have to pull the battery to turn it off and back on again. Once it reboots it doesn't seem to have a problem connecting, but after that and a f ew hours of usage it happens again when i plug it back in. I installed a lot of apps using appbrain recently and i feel like it started doing that after i installed them.

Is there any connection to the fact that I did ODIN to II5 before and the backup is from older build?
I am trying to change the screen size of the emulator and see on the site that they tell you what commands to use, but it doesnt' tell you HOW to do it. how I would change the screen size. I believe this occurs on startup. I have eclipse as well, but would rather just shell into it and change it whenever I want.

During a call, when I put the phone by my left ear, my ear and/or my cheek touch the screen, and though one would expect the buttons on the touch screen to be disabled during a call, when held against the ear and the face, I keep accidentally hanging up calls or in some other occasions, muting, having frustrated monologues to myself, thinking that the other person is ignoring me...
I mentioned using the left ear, because, it seems to have always happened when I held the phone by my left ear and not when I held it by my right ear.
I'm trying to find a more elegant solution, as dropping numerous calls is not an option. (today I dropped more than 15 calls). Any suggestions?
When I start my application initially, I get a black screen which stays for a few seconds before my main activity starts. In case of iphone an image with name default is displayed for that split second. I am not sure how to do the same in android. I tried as below in vain

Until I activate the Advanced Task Killer and shut them all down, the thing runs like a hog. I have quite a few programs installed, but I dont use them all all of the time. Why do they all start up and is there any way beside the ATK to stop them? Is there any way to modify the startup files?
View 4 Replies View Relatedim not sure why or what ive done but when i try and shut the phone down it just hangs at the "shutting down" screen for hours. it went 4 hours lastnight without shutting off. the only way to get it to stop is to pull the batt or it sometimes works to plug it into the computer with the usb cable. ive also noticed that mixzing wont read the sd card, keeps saying memory card is unavailible. could it be the same thing in both cases? the memory card is having issues? ive only had the phone for 2 weeks. i can save to and read from the card when mounted as a disc drive and i can shoot and save pics and videos as well as double twist reading from the card just fine. is there something im missing? this is driving me nuts im on telus, android 2.1, not rooted or modified in any way.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen phone locked and somebody calls, i drag down to pick up: in this very moment phones shows like it would follow the procedure and pick up, but it hangs like inbetween for 4-5 seconds and THEN picks up. Meanwhile i can press Menu, Home, etc, nothing happens.. Sometime don't have that luck and the call drops. Most of the time i'm lucky and can pickup.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had an issue flashing the newest version of the leedroid ROM. To start my phone was running stock un-rooted Android 2.1. This is what I've done
1) Rooted the device using the Unrevoked method. Everything with this went fine. I get the Superuser app and I can get the '#' prompt at a terminal.
2) Then I partitioned my SD card using Rom Manager in preparation for A2SD+
3) Then I booted into clockwork mod recovery and wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache, and wiped dalvik cache
4) Then I tried to flash the leedroid rom from zip on the sd card
After reboot my phone appears to be stuck on the HTC screen and will not move forward. But if I take out the battery I can boot back into recovery mode. So it appears my phone is not broken, but it clearly isn't working. I've tried flashing a number of different ROMs but get the same result each time.
Everytime I have to reboot, or if my battery dies, and I charge it and all that, and I press the power button, the screen just freezes at the HTC EVO 4G screen. I have to take out the cover, and pull the battery and by the time I do this 2-3 times, it finally boots correctly. I'm using Fresh 3.3.0.1 alongside netarchy 4.1.9.1 cfs.
