Android : How To Leave Reviews For An App - Market

Dec 14, 2009

I know this has to be really simple, and I'm just not seeing it, but how do you leave a review for an app? I've tried going to Android Market and I've tried looking through the Market app on my phone to see if I can review apps there, but I'm just not seeing anything.

Android : how to leave reviews for an app - Market

Android : Reviews In The Market - Endorsing Other Apps

May 20, 2010

I am relatively new to Android so I don't know if this has been debated to death. I have seen quite a few apps reviewed in the Market where people (1) bash the app in a really negative way and (2) endorse a competing app.

IMO, this is bad for the Android community. I doubt many of the people here do this but, anyhow, on a soapbox for a minute... First, it's a little like spamming up someone else's web page. Also... it just irks me because I would equate it to the Pepsi distributor walking into the store and plastering Coke displays with Pepsi coupons. It isn't fair play if it's done by a competitor. Second, even if it's not done by a competitor, I don't think it serves any valuable purpose. We have other ways to get app recommendations, including AndroidForums.com, and to compare and contrast apps. Hell, create a posterous blog if you want to do comparison app reviews. Third, apps often go through many iterations before they're satisfactory to the developer. Maybe some app doesn't measure up to your favorite but the Market is a poor outlet for that opinion; it's just plain rude to the developer who probably invested a substantial amount of time and money into making the app.

Android :: Ways That Allows Developer To Leave Reply To Comments In Market?

I have a free app that has 64% of ratings at 5 starts, but still has 9% of ratings at only 1 start, some of them even said that my app is an "useless garbage", so I think maybe I need to leave a reply to those users to explain something or answer their questions. So are there any ways that we could do such thing?

I'd say the worst bar none is Gizmodo. They could have just farmed the review out to any mac site and got the same result. Android : Notepads And Notepad's That Sync - Evaluations And Reviews

Nov 8, 2009

I'd like to dedicate this thread specifically to the evaluations and feedback for various notepads and notepads that sync.

I'd like to keep this separate from ToDo lists, lists, tasks, task lists, etc. as I've dedicated that to another thread ( Todo Lists - Tasks - Lists - Task Lists - Evaluations and Reviews ).

Doing a search for notepads on the Android Market comes up with so many results. Rather than downloading and trying out so many, I'd like to know which notepad is recommended.

I've been searching for notepads that sync - preferably with Google Notebook. Google notebook isn't very popular these days and they appear to be phasing it out and gearing users towards Google Docs.

On the iPod Touch (and iPhone of course), I've been using an App called gNotes which syncs with my Google Notebook. However, I haven't been able to find any Android applications that sync with Google Notebook.

I did, however, find at least a couple of Apps that sync with Google Docs.

Notepads that Sync with Google Docs

I've experimented with two:

Gdocs Notepad with Sync
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-mobdev-notepadgdocs-qAAB.aspx
Website: [url]

Gdocs notepad is a basic and simple application that creates a dedicated folder on your Google Docs and syncs basic text notes. Pretty basic and straightforward.

Gdocs

Website: [url]

This is an App that syncs with Google Docs, lists all your Google Docs, allows you read/view/edit most of your Google Docs, etc.

Other Notepads?

What are some other notepads you've downloaded and/or experimented with?

I've been reading up on:

Notepad with Sync:
[url]

Seems similar to GDocs Notepad with Sync. However, it syncs to Helipad - Product overview , not your Google Account. I didn't bother downloading this because one commenter mentioned that the Application was great, but helicoid wasn't, so she switched to Google Notepad with Sync.

3banana Notes:
[url]

I haven't downloaded this, but this is a 4-1/2-Star App that seems to sync with the Google Account.

Note Everything:
[url]

I haven't downloaded this. Curious to know how users here rate and evaluate this.

Please comment on other Notepad Apps. Please indicate if they

1) Sync
2) If sync, syncs to Google notebook, Google Docs, some other website.
3) Does not Sync
4) Sends or uploads to Facebook, Twitter, copies text to Gmail, Email client, etc.
5) Offers folders
6) Other unique features

Motorola Droid 2 :: Why No Media Reviews Yet?

Aug 12, 2010

Is it because most of the hardware is the same as X and the design is very similar to the Droid 1, that media interest is low? Seems the only people pushing this device are a few Android blogs. This is compared to previously launch devices for Droid 1, X, EVO and Inc.Even the posts in this forum are kind of low, compared to the original Droid, the Inc, the EVO and the X. Lack of media reviews and total preliminary posts here suggests the Droid 2 is being treated as as a Droid 1 refresh, hence the lack of high interest.I would consider the Droid 2, IF the sound output from the 3.5mm jack is louder and better range than the Droid 1 and X.

Games :: Gameloft Game Reviews

Jul 8, 2010

Game loft recently (kind of) released ten (not counting Asphalt 5) high caliber games onto Android, ported form the iPhone versions. These game must be bought from Gameloft's website, where there are no free trials and no refunds. At first, some of the games weren't working right on certain phones. However, I messaged them about this, and they said they have fixed all of the games for all phones. I have been able to get nine of ten to work on my HTC Incredible (more on that later). Since there are no trials, and no refunds, I have decided to review all of the games to help future consumers out. While these versions are iPhone ports, they are still different and have their own sets of features (and glitches), so iPhone specific reviews won't do. These are all played on my Incredible, but I can confirm all (nine not eight) work on my dad's Droid too. Each game costs $5. Click on the games' names to go to the information and download pages.I want to make sure to fully play through a game before reviewing it. I will post reviews as I finish games. These aren't going to be super in depth reviews--just what you need to know. Note: I treat 5/10 as average, not 7/10 like most reviewers. However, these games are of such high quality, you are going to think I am treating 7/10 as average.

HTC Incredible :: Still Conflicting Information About App Space In Reviews

Apr 19, 2010

A couple of the reviews refer to the app space and say that none of the 8gb is for apps and you are constrained to the rom. This makes no sense, based on the 768mb free storage showing up in snapshots of some of the reviews. Logic is taking a hit here:

1. 768mb shows free for storage

2. Internal media memory shows 6.6gb

3. If 8gb flash, about 7.8 should show free (not 6.6)

4. If apps are constrained to the 512mb rom (as reviews state), the OS and preinstalled apps would take up space, so 220mb or less would be free with Android 2.1 and the Sense UI

5. 768mb free on a 512mb rom is impossible- even excluding how much space the OS and preinstalled apps take.

I WAS eyeing the iphone , but when I found out about Droid , I became very interested , much more than iphone. I completely believe in anything os. I can not buy or commit to anything without a bunch of reviews and , of course full specs. So when waited patiently for the countdown to end , I was hoping for an unveiling with meat. Now I've spent an hour and a half everywhere online, but nothing is really new. Has anyone seen an official spec sheet, final copy? I've seen the one that got posted by mistake last week on verizon , but has either motorola or verizon posted anything official? How about reviews, will they come after the 6th, or sooner?

KitKat 4.4 :: Hiding User Reviews From Playstore

Apr 20, 2014

Not to be a censor police but I am getting annoyed with the play store allowing profanity in the user reviews. This is the third time this past month I saw the f word clear as day. This time just looking up some WiFi scanner called WiFi Analyzer.

There is no way to actually report the review except for spam. Also I need to go into the store to check for updated apps and to read the release notes but if they are going to allow filth in the reviews at least give us the option to not show the reviews. Instead now I have to remember not to scroll down to far.

I can block them on Firefox and Chrome using Ad Block but only on the computer.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 : VS IPhone 3G - Simple Reviews And Comparison

Apr 2, 2010

Sony X10 V.S iPhone 3G: simple reviews and comparison

After countless fans waiting for a long time, Sony Ericsson finally introduced its first android smartphone Sony Xperia X10. It is said that the Xperia X10 is perhaps the most promising of Sony Ericsson's confusing crop of modern smartphones, combining attractive hardware with killer specs, Android, and an intriguing custom skin. Does it hold its own against modern competitors like apple IPhone which most people like? And more importantly, can it keep Sony Ericsson from going over the brink? Read on to find out.

Design

The XPERIA X10 measures 119*63*13 mm and weight 135 gm and capable of displaying movies and photos in 262k colors on its high 854*480 resolution 4-inch screen.
the next update at the second part of this year will upgread colors depth to 256 ( rael colors .. like normal pc color depth )

While iPhone measures 115.5*62.1*12.3 mm and weight 135gm in16 million colors on 480*320 pixel resolution and 3.5-inch screen.

Conclusion: There is not much difference between the form factor of the two smartphones except for the fact that Xperia X10 is slightly, but unnoticeably, bigger.

OS ( OPERATING SYSTEM )

Xperia X10 runs on Google Android 1.6 OS , will be upgreaded to 2.1 this year

while iPhone runs on the proprietary iPhone OS 3.1x.

Connectivity and wireless

Both the phones are quadband and GSM-based. Both the phones boast of 3G, WiFi, EDGE, GPRS and Bluetooth (with A2DP) and both lack infrared port.

Browser

Both have ability to optimize web pages to fit the screen and zooming in and out of web pages is a breeze. Both are also slick in checking for or doing stuff. However, unlike Xperia X10 has a Webkit web browser, iPhone comes with Safari browser which doesn't support Flash.

Storage and Memory:

Xperia X10 has 1GB onboard flash memory and microSD card slot (capable of holding up to 16GB, Xperia X10 also ships with 8GB miroSD card).
On the other hand, iPhone comes with 256MB onboard flash memory and a choice of 16GB or 32GB internal storage.

Camera and video recording:

Xperia X10 boasts of a whopping 8.1-megapixel camera with up to 16x digital zoom, image and video stabiliser, auto-focus, touch to focus, face and smile detection, geo-tagging, LED flash and WVGA video recording (@30fps).
On the other hand, iPhone has a 3.15-megapixel camera with auto-focus, tap to focus, VGA video recording (@30fps) and geo-tagging.

Music and Video Player:

Both the smartphones support multiple audio and video playback formats.

The Experia X10's audio player offers a great number of options for filtering content and accessing additional information (via the Infinity button), but lacks equalizer. And it only supports MP3 and AAC formats. While its' video player recognizes MPEG4 videos coded in H.264 only and does not support DivX and Xvid, which is a shame really, since the huge screen is extremely suitable for watching videosAnother, iPhone supports audio formats: AAC, MP3, WAV and video formats: MP4, H.264 and MPEG-4.

Both don't support all of video formats.

Power and Battery:

Xperia X10 is equipped with a Li-Po 1500mAh battery that should be able to provide 8 hours of continuous talk time and keep the handset operational for 425 hours in stand-by on 3G networks.
While iPhone has a built-in Li-Ion battery that ups to 10hours for talk time and 6 hours on Internet use.

Others:

Xperia X10 and iPhone have some common features such as

*accelerometer,
*Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync,
*GPS,
*SMS,
*MMS,
*3.5mm audio jack,
*Digital Compass,
*Google Maps and 3D games.

With Xperia X10, you have access to Android Market and PlayNow arena from where you can download apps, movies, video podcasts, TV shows, music tracks, games etc. It also promises an intuitive UI by introducing signature social media applications like Mediascape and Timescape and also has web feeds, speakerphone, gesture control, flight mode, world clock, and pre-installed useful apps.

On the other hand, iPhone has many cool features including a landscape keyboard for all core apps; an innovative and useful implementation of cut, copy, and paste; push notifications, an improved call log that shows details like the time and length of a call; a spotlight search for searching apps, e-mail, music, and more. It also offers a very useful service called MobileMe, a feature that allows you to remotely track the location of the phone when it goes missing, backup data, wipe data from a lost or stolen phone and restore it in a new one.

Conclusion:
As you can clearly see from the comparison chart above, it really drills down to what the end-user wants from his or her phone. If you want a phone with high quality camera, then Xperia X10 is the answer since it boasts of 8.1 megapixels autofocus camera. On the other hand, one clear thing that iPhone has over Xperia X10 is its huge number of apps offering which is a big attraction for most us,BUT we cann't say that iphone has the advantage here because google android is a new os compare with apple ers. But when it comes to sheer hardware power, Xperia X10 comes out as a clear winner. So it really comes down to what you want from your phone and which platform are you more comfortable with.

i didnt talk about multi-toutching because its not confirmed yet in X10
