Android :: 2.2 Google Api Emulator Not Booting Up
Jun 2, 2010I just wrote a test app and deployed it via Google Api 2.2 emulator version 8. The emulator is running and the Android logo comes. But after that, no progress. When I checked the log, it shows a Mount Service with message 'waiting too long for ready! What should be done inorder to boot the emulator?

Android : Google Maps Works On Phone NOT On Emulator / Way To Fix
Oct 10, 2010Google mapview does not load the actual maps in the emulator, just the grid. My overlays are displayed ok. sdk version 2.2. It works fine in a real phone. I use a debug key and trippel checked the manifest. It has been working in earlier projects. I just cant figure it out.. Any ideas, what to check?

Nov 19, 2010I managed to sign in with my google account (using the Google API AVD), but any notes that I write does not sync to the jumpnote.appspot.com, and vice versa. I notice in the account settings, it says "sync is OFF". I click on menu and the "sync now" button, the sync icon shows up momentarily on top but nothing happened after that. The notes I wrote on the phone do not get reflected on the server. Did anyone manage to get the jumpnote sample to sync successfully via C2DM?

Forums suggest that you can do this by going to Settings -> Accounts, however for me I only have the option to add a "corporate" account, i.e. an Exchange account, not a Google Account. I wish to add this Google Account to test c2dm from the emulator. Does anyone know how to associate a Google account with the emulator in this build?

Now I can start the Calendar app successfully, with the month view/week view/etc. But I don't know how to sync the calendars or events with Google Calendar service. From the source code, I assume there should happen sync operation. But it didn't happened. And I know another trigger to sync is Menu->More->My Calendars, but after selected, the activity will crash. Apr 20, 2009I need to run several emulator instances to test my application. When i try to run instances using emulator -data <path> option, the emulator crashes.
I got a MS Visual Studio window informing that emulator throws a "unhandled win32 exception".
The exception message in the debugger (MS Visual Studio 2008) is: "Unhandled exception at 0x77c4706c in emulator.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x03216848"
The emulator runs normally without "-data" option.

If I make even a simple change to the layout, it takes about 30 seconds by time I run it in Eclipse and Android "boots", and I can unlock the emulator to run the application. Is there any way to shorten this time when making changes, or is it something I just have to deal with?

Mar 16, 2010I downloaded the most recent version of Android for linux (android-sdk_r05-linux_86.tgz). I was trying to use the the Android Ant task(s) for packaging, building, and deploying my code. I should mention that I'm running AMD64, but have the 32-bit libraries installed. The Android Ant tasks are all broken.
First, the start-emulator task never gets the emulator running. It does get past starting adb, but then just sits there.
Second, the SDK is missing the aapt binary in the tools directory. So, the example notepad sample application will not even package correctly.
I have all the dependencies configured for Android. I can run it from the command line just fine.I assume the Ant code is out of sync with the recent SDK updates. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? At this point, I'm considering writing my own Python scripts to interact with the Android SDK. Ugh.

Jun 23, 2010A few months ago Google sent top market developers a feww phone (Droid or Nexus).I was one of them and received a Droid.I just now called in to activate the Droid on my Verizon account and was told that it is not activated.They said that the ESN number is tied to a business account and currently active.Verizon said the only thing I can do is to contact Google, who sent me the phone, and work it out with them.The paperwork with the phone came with no numbers or email addresses.I have tried calling the Nexus support line, they could not direct me anywhere. I have tried emailing the automated robots that sent me emails about the phone.Is there anyone at Google that I can contact that would be able to help with this?

When I go the www.google.com/latitude on my G1, it offers me the option of "launching" Latitude but it just takes me to Google Maps. From there, I cannot see the locations of my Google "friends" (who have agreed to show location), neither does my own location show up on the Latitude homepage on the web (I have settings turned to "detect my location automatically").

Nov 8, 2009I use Google hosted apps with my own domain for e-mail, calendar, chat, etc. and I use the e-mail address from that with my main Google account as well. So, both my Google account and hosted apps account use the same address. I had no problem setting up my account on my phone when I got it Friday, but I've been running into a few issues. First off, every time I try to buy an app in the Market, it asks me to set up a Google account to associate it with, even though I already have. Also, when I try to use Google Listen, it asks the same thing. Is there a way around this, or will I have to create a separate Google/GMail account?

Feb 15, 2010I've never understood the appeal of Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc. Google Buzz caught my interest only because it appears in things I already use on my Droid - Google Maps and Google Reader (via the browser). In Google Reader I can clearly see who I'm logged in as - the name appears at the bottom of the screen; it's my Google Account. I assume this works via a cookie in the browser.The only account I have setup on my phone itself is my Google Apps account, and the email address for this account is different than that of my Google Account.While out sledding with my kids today, I felt the urge to buzz, and attach a picture. I couldn't see how to do that through the browser interface, so I opened Google Maps. It appears that I can post to Buzz in Google Maps, and even attach a picture. The only problem is that I can't see any buzz other than my own via Google Maps, but I can see more buzz via the browser, but none of what I posted.I think somehow Google Maps is using my Google Apps account for Buzz, but it's not actually working. Anyone have a clue as to what's going on here?
