Android :: Signing In To Google For Google Document Access

Feb 5, 2010

I am working on an app where the user inputs some numbers, my app performs a few relevant calculations, and displays the result. However, I would like it if the user could somehow save this value to a Google Spreadsheet. My problem is, I have no idea how to authenticate with Google. I have been Goggle'ing this for awhile, and found: http://code.google.com/apis/documents/docs/3.0/developers_guide_proto.However, when I try to use the command ClientLogin in my code, it tells me this is undefined. I have the Build set to SDK 7, which is Android+Google, and I have: import google.*; (I did this just to play it safe); Anyway, I would appreciate any help I could get. If there are any tutorials or code snippets out there that can help, please send me the link. This is the first time I am attempting something like this (I am a C++ developer who works on offline applications).

Android :: Google Latitude Application For Access Through Google Maps?

Mar 5, 2009

Is Google Latitude available in the UK or not, because it doesn't seem to be working for me? I have received the RC9 update for G1 and have Google Maps 3.0. Is there an a Google Latitude application that I should have or do I access everything through Google Maps? When I go the www.google.com/latitude on my G1, it offers me the option of "launching" Latitude but it just takes me to Google Maps. From there, I cannot see the locations of my Google "friends" (who have agreed to show location), neither does my own location show up on the Latitude homepage on the web (I have settings turned to "detect my location automatically").

Android : Signing Key Got Corrupted - Getting Invalid Keystore Format In Eclipse Signing Wizard

Aug 25, 2010

I have a paid application, that I recently published.

For one reason or another, I didn't make a backup copy of the key signature.

After fixing some bugs, I tried to sign the application again as an update, through Eclipse's export as a signed app wizard.

On the screen where the alias is usually selected, i get a message saying "Invalid Keystore Format."

My real issue is how to handle publishing the update as a new, separate application, with regard to the users who have already purchased the application.

Would I issue refunds for the original purchase for users that purchase the new, separate application?

Android :: Access To Google Chrome Bookmarks On 2.2 Phone?

Sep 15, 2010

Google Chrome ships by default with a terrific little feature called "Sync". Sync basically allows you to share your bookmarks on any computer running Google Chrome, simply by configuring Chrome to use your Gmail account. I love this because I have two computers at home, and one at work, and can access all the same bookmarks from any of the computers.

My question is, is anyone aware of a method or application that would allow me to access these synced Google bookmarks through my Android phone? I am using an HTC Desire with Froyo (Cyanogenmod 6.0). I use the Dolphin HD browser, and am aware of options of importing my bookmarks manually, however I prefer to keep my bookmarks organized into folders and not just displayed as one long list. If nothing already exists, I may just get scripty and server up a website that would display all of my Chrome bookmarks in the browser.

Android :: How Does Google Implement Microsoft Exchange Access

Jun 10, 2010

I know with Android 2.x there is the ability to tap into Microsoft Exchange, for at least email, if not calendar and contacts. I would like to see how this was accomplished. Particularly because Microsoft Exchange exposes SOAP web services, and I understand there is no native Android support for SOAP. Since this is open source, shouldn't I be able to find something in the Android source? If so, can you point me in the right direction of where to find it in the ~4Gig (!) source? I want to develop an application that accesses Exchange contacts and calendars, but don't want to reinvent that piece.

Android : Way To Access Google Products Search Within Droid-App?

Jul 26, 2010

I wanna use the Gdata Apis within my Android Application. Being more specific I wanna give the user the ability to search for keywords, use the Gdata api to search for products within googleproducts for these keywords and parse the xml that I get back. I know how to parse xml files via an org.xml.sax.helpers.DefaultHandler but I guess that I am not suppose to use such a Handler but rather rely on the Gdata api to parse the xml for me. My Problem is that I dont know how to integrate the api in my App. There is a similiar topic within stackoverflow (hier) but I am not at all satisfied with the answer they gave. Just giving someone the information to "look at our recently announced version 2.1.0-alpha of the GData Java library which supports Android" doesnt quite help me to integrate gdata in my app. I would very appreciate if someone could give a step-by-step guide how to integrate the gdata api within my app, including code examples to make a search-request and parsing back the results from google products.

Android :: How Secure Google Checkout For Applications That Access Gmail?

Sep 19, 2010

Would appreciate some comments on whether our Google Checkout is vulnerable when downloading and using apps that request your gmail authentication details e.g.
RSS readers that uses your Google Reader
SMS backup apps that back up to your Gmail account
Picasa photo related software that needs access to your gmail

I was thinking over this weekend that it seems to me that if we supply these apps with our gmail credentials they potentially have the ability to also hack our Google Checkout which doesn't have any secondary level of security other than our Gmail account username/password!

Android :: Droid Access To Google Calendar - Supported Method

Jun 7, 2010

How do I find the users available Google Calendars and then create an event in one of those calendars?

Direct access to the Calendar on the handset is for some unknown bizarre reason UNSUPPORTED and not documented and untestable unless you have EVERY single device and ROM. Therefore blind development, cr4p for users and cr4p when you have to blame Google.

Aren't we developing apps to help users with their day-to-day things? Accessing and creating events in a calendar ON THE HANDSET would sem like a logical day-to-day thing to do?

Anyway so I turned to the GDATA API. However the documentation bears no resemblance to anything available for the android SDK. The documented classes stated to be available to be used for Calendar access are not available in the downloadable libraries!?!?!? http://code.google.com/apis/calendar/data/2.0/developers_guide_java.html

So my question, how do I find the users available Google Calendars and then create an event in one of those calendars from an Android app?

Any links posted which say 'see here' please make sure the code is valid for android! :)

(code examples would be great - oh and preferably using the users credentials on the handset to login to the Calendar).

General :: Cannot Access Google Play

Jan 22, 2013

I have just bought a SGS3, and I have rooted it following the instructions on a thread on CF-auto root, and I have successfully rooted my phone, and I used an App called Freedom, which enables me to buy golds or coins in apps for free, and after awhile, I unrooted my phone, but after that, I cannot access Google Play, it says no connection, I think I was caught by Google Play for buying golds or coins for free. I have unsyncing my account, and creating a new one, but when I create new accounts or logging in, it always says "can't establish a reliable connection to the server. this could be a temporary problem or your android device may not be provisioned for data services. if it continues, call customer care." BTW, I have checked my connection, and it works properly.

Can I root again using same method if I get it to upgrade? Can I change the [url]... settings showing apps as installed even though they were lost after factory reset? If I upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and do another factory reset will it reset to new installed Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or will it go back to earlier version of Android? What will happen to apps that came with tab by default? Will the apps that came with the tab be lost after upgrade?
