Android :: Cannot See Files After Yaffs2 Image Mounted
Feb 7, 2009
I created img.yaffs2 using mkyaffs2image and then mounted it into Ubuntu MTD NAND flash simulator. so if I use 'cat /proc/filesystems' I can see yaffs and yaffs2 and by 'cat /proc/mtd' I can see /dev/mtd0에 Nand simulator partition 0. (block size is 0x4000).................

I have some images that I exracted using dump_image. I'm trying to restore them with the MTK Flash Tool. The ones that go on FAT partitions seem to flash fine but the ones that go on yaffs2 partitions don't work.
I think I need a way of converting the images I extracted to yaffs2 images.

The robustness of the file system is very critical for a mobile device. YAFFS2 is a file system that was designed specifically for NAND flash, which is supposed to be more robust than EXT3 file system in terms of NAND flash. I wonder if there is YAFF2 support in Android platform? or there is an alternative other than EXT3?

I'm using the stock Android 2.1 gallery to view images. I have a large JPG image (approx 7000x7000 pixels) of bicycle route map for my city. I tried zooming and scrolling with the gallery image viewer, but it cannot zoom in close enough to read the map detail.
Is there a better image viewer app out there that is good for zooming and scrolling large JPG images?
I would like to use Google maps, but the bicycle route mode still does not work in the Android app.

I have to make a dedicated image viewer app for Android 2.x.
There are too many jpeg image files: about 2000~ jpegs, over 100MB.
I want access the image files with their file names,
but I couldn't find such an example.
By the way, is it okay to put many image files in /res/drawable folder?
I heard that the android application cannot be installed on sdcard and
the program repository is very small so 100MB app cannot be installed generally.
I found some examples which download the large data files on sdcard online,
but I cannot run a web server to host the data files,
and I must upload the fully packaged program on Android Market. (Should I build one apk file?)
What are the best practices for managing too many resource images (or something) in Android?

I'm using HTC Dream and trying to read the images stored in the "default" album folder of this phone. But I've yet to found out what's the folder path to those images file. do you know what's the path to that image folder? What would be the path patterns (if any) in other Android phones? I don't need to set any additional permission to access those files, do I? Do you know how I can build a "file browsing" widget in my activity? I've searched and seems like there is no such widget and I've to install app that does file browsing. In any case, how to incorporate that as a file-browsing view in my current activity?

I have rooted the just purchased Spice mi-530 with "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18". However there is no CW recovery or Custom firmware in the XDA Threads.
I just know little bit of Android and able to manage with trial and error.provide the Recovery image or zip files. I have put aside my Galaxy note one and shifted to Spice mi-530 because it is fast and smooth. I was also able to see flawless films and videos.

I'm looking for an app that will allow me to view photos stored on my computer. I can access the computers on my home network from my Incredible using Astro or ES File Explorer "LAN" and open various file formats such as .pdf, .doc, .xls fine on my Droid; however, I am unable to open and view any type of image files (.jpg, .bmp, .gif, etc.) unless they are stored on my SD card or in the Droid memory itself.
When I try to open a image file stored outside the Droid, nothing appears on the Droid screen. I have installed several "image viewer" apps, such as Astro and 3D Gallery, none of which seem to be able to open remotely stored files. When I "click" on an image file, I see "Loading Image", but all that appears is a black screen with left and right arrow scroll buttons -- no pictures. Any advice, other than to copy and paste image files to my SD card, which then allows me to open and view them? I did get the 2.2 update.

I am having some difficulties with customizing my rk2918 based tablet. I managed to download the original firmware and it is in .img format. Now I have managed to take apart the single .img file into multiple .img files, customized and rooted it with dsixda's kitchen and rebuild the ROM. Now my question is, can I somehow convert the zipped package back into the multiple .img files, or even into the single .img file so I can flash it with RKupdate or RKbatchtool? How to extract image files......

I use http://stackoverflow.com/questions/541966/android-how-do-i-do-a-lazy-load-of-images-in-listview/3068012#3068012 to load images in a ListView and a GridView. It works but the images are loaded form bpttom to top. How to fix that?
Bonus Question: Can I use a loading animation in a image view while the real image is loaded? Right now it's just a default image.

Need to display images downloaded and extracted from a zip into the "/files" directory of the app. the images are getting in there properly as far as i can tell - i am able to extract them from the emulator and view/open them from my desktop. but every attempt, every variation of code i have found and tried so far has failed (Tag: skia / Text: --- decoder->decode returned false).
My latest construct, which does work for image files downloaded separately and uncompressed :
Code:
String imgFile = new File(getFilesDir(), "myImage.jpg").getAbsolutePath();
ImageView myImageView = new ImageView(this);
Bitmap bm = null;
try{
bm = BitmapFactory.decodeFile(imgFile);
myImageView.setImageBitmap(bm);
} finally{
mainLayout.addView(myImageView);
}
And here is the construct i am using to handle the zip extraction. I assume this is where the problem lies but i am clueless as to what i could possibly do differently and to what effect:
Code:
ZipInputStream zis = new ZipInputStream(fis);
BufferedInputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(zis, 8192);
ZipEntry ze;
while ((ze = zis.getNextEntry()) != null){
File dest_file = new File(getFilesDir(), ze.getName());
[code]....

Can an Activity still have read/write access to an SD card after it has been mounted to USB storage (connecting USB and selecting Mount from the resulting notification screen). In other words, does mounting the SD card lock out system access until USB is disconnected. I need to create a live channel between an application and an external USB device and I'm running out of options.

My droid does not have a front mounted camera. How about two small rectangle mirrors mounted at 90 degrees with one edge of mirror touching just below the phone camera lens... and with some simple holder, it could turn phone into a front facing non reversed camera (2 mirrors -- like a periscope.)
Has anyone constructed this? Seems like it could be a simple product accessory that could world for multiple phones.
Dash is phone with camera backside pointing to one of two mirrors shown as slashes & V.

The problem is that if the user has the sdcard mounted via the USB cable, I can't read the list of images on the disk. Does anyone know of a way to tell if the usb is mounted so that I could just pop up a message informing the user that it won't work?
