Just traded in my Blackberry Storm for an Android and am looking for a Contact Manager app that allows me to sort by last name (by Company would be nice, too). let's not get into religious discussions as to whether the Google implementation is better or not.

But in a result I get only Contact names without visible numbers. To make things worse, if one contact has two numbers it occurs twice.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen using the smart search function of the dialer or searching in contacts my Magic only searches numbers and names, not company names.I have hundreds of contacts that are just companies (airlines, couriers, etc. etc.) with no specific contacts at that company.Those contacts are effectively inaccessible on my phone now as the only way to find them is to scroll through the hundreds of blank contacts to find what I am looking for.When I synchronized contacts with my HTC magic, any contact with a company name, but nothing in the 'Name' field had the word 'unnamed' added to the name field.The only work around I can see is to use Outlook to manually add the company name to each of these contacts and then change the 'File As' field to read the company name.

I have an android 2.1 (Samsung I5700 Spica). Does android use only "google contact" for manage all contacts? After facebook syncing on ICS, they now appear as two contacts in the People app. Is there a way to work around this, aside from changing my gmail contact name?
I'm on Pete Alfonso's Nexus S ROM and Ezekeel's Glados 2.6 CFS kernel.
I have them filtered on the Handset so that only those marked as Friends or Family under Gmail contacts are shown. I can't help this as otherwise I'd have well over 1000 contacts to scroll through on my phone.
My issue is that should I add a contact on my phone it doesn't appear. This is obviously because when it's created it has no group membership. It still resolves against SMS etc but is not displayed in the Contacts list. I can (when near a computer) quickly jump onto gmail, manage contacts and put the person into the right group but ideally I'd like to be able to do this on the handset.
Is there any way at all of editing Google Contact Group membership on the handset? I certainly can't find the option if it exists. Alternatively is it possible to change it so when the contact is create on the handset that it automatically saves as a 'Friend'.
My HTC Hero was delivered today and I am having problems with my contact list. I have 500 plus names and numbers that have been transferred from outlook to the hero and they have come over in the same groups as in outlook but I need more than that. On my windows based palm top (that I am hoping to replace with the hero) I can search for either a persons name or the name of the company they work for.
About 400 of my contacts are work related and I might only use them once or twice a year and without being able to search for a company name I can not find them. It is further complicated because in a lot of cases a company name might have 3 or 4 different people under it. Does anyone know of a contacts app or upgrade that would give me the functionality that I am looking for?
1. Is it possible to rename photos on the X10?I suppose it would be possible to attach the phone to the computer and rename them on there, but is there any way of doing it from the phoine itself?
2.Is it possible to assign a contact name to a photo that has been downloaded to the phone?For example, if I happened to download a few pictures of Zhang Ziyi, can I create her as a contact and get the phone to recognise the pictures as being of her?I don;t see a way of doing it.The photos are clear shots that include her face.Again, perhaps I have to do it through the computer?
