View 4 RepliesJust traded in my Blackberry Storm for an Android and am looking for a Contact Manager app that allows me to sort by last name (by Company would be nice, too). let's not get into religious discussions as to whether the Google implementation is better or not.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there such an app? Its a major PIA to sort through hundreds of findings looking for 5-star apps with a reasonable number of downloads and reviews to qualify it.. An "organizer" of sorts would help a great deal. (non-rooted phone)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a whole host of people on facebook, that show up as contacts on my phone, which i dont really want if possible, u know how it is some people are just facebook friends - anyway to stop them coming up when i search for a contact to send a sms to ?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi just picked up a droid. i will be going on vacation next week and was wondering if there are any good, free flight-status/airport-status tools. haven't found any so far.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis may be a simplistic question, but one reason I went with a web browser phone is so I can do browsing while in the airport. Is this possible with the phone as it is or do I need to use Wifi? To be honest not even exactly sure what it is used for.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was at the Newark Airport yesterday and got 4G. Averaged 5700 down and 1075 up. Signal was 2-3 bars but did not extend into Newark or south into Elizabeth. Signal only on exit 13a on NJ Turnpike.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a rookie with computers and have been trying to set up my Zeepad with my Airport Extreme. I have returned the Zeepad to factory settings and cleared the cache. (Don't get excited like I actually know what I'm doing, I followed directions on this website.) Also I unplugged the Airport and plugged it back in.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis route is about 4 years old. Using my window 7 laptop, able to access the internet.
Network connection detail of the window 7 laptop:
DHCP Enabled: Yes
I've been having the same WiFi connectivity issues mentioned by other people. With my Airport Extreme Simultaneous Dual Band, I couldn't even run the Speedtest app to completion more than once or twice before the X would drop the connection.
Other people have mentioned that it seems to be related to 802.11n - that 802.11g access points weren't having issues.
Many people with Airport's aren't aware that you can configure the radios in a much more fine-grained fashion than is immediately obvious. You can set it up so that it runs 802.11n only on the 5Ghz band, and 802.11g on the 2.4Ghz band.
To do so, start up the Airport Utility, then go to the "Wireless" tab. There's a drop-down for "Radio Mode", which normally only shows three radio options.
On a Mac, hold down the Option key ( Presumably Alt on Windows ), and THEN click Radio Mode. You'll see about a dozen new options.
I chose "802.11n only ( 5 Ghz ) - 802.11 b/g"
This should ensure that clients that have have 5Ghz receivers still get the benefit of having the high speeds from 802.11n, but that 2.4Ghz clients see only a B/G access point.
After making this change, my X has NEVER dropped the Wifi signal. I've run literally dozens of Speedtest checks and it works every time.
So, if you have an Airport Dual Band, you might want to try it out. People with other AP's should see if theirs offers equivalent functionality.
I have a new Droid Incredible. I am trying to get it set up, configured, etc., and was trying to connect to my home WiFi network. I have an airport express (in bridge mode) connected to a router. The router is connected to my cable modem via ethernet, and also connected to my Mac desktop via ethernet. My Incredible can see my home network, but when I try to connect it hangs at the "acquiring IP address" stage and eventually fails. I know my phone is functional, because it connects fine to the wireless network at work. I know my home network is fine, because I can connect to it via my laptop no problem. I'm sure there is some setting that I am messing up, but I'm pretty naive about networking issues.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHi..I am new to this forum, and to the 'Droid' which is probably way too advanced for my brain to handle..I turn on the Wi Fi settings, it sees my network, I've added my Droid to the Airport Extreme, and I've changed settings to "robustness" as I read in other posts..Nothing seems to work. I am in Extended Network, and the only reason I agreed to get the phone is the salesperson said I could connect to my home computer router..I have searched the internet for hours, and tried different things, but I'm CLUELESS!
View 10 Replies View RelatedIm coming from an HTC Touch hear in Dallas and after a great week with the Moment I am concerned about the radio in this thing. My issue is that I get NO bars at work near DFW Airport. Iv updated the PRL and the latest maint release but the thing still doesn't connect while at work. Any idea for fixing the sensitivity so I can make calls at work? I am sooo tied of hearing the ?Lack of Signal beeps? all day long. Vz droid my co-worker has is solid 4-3 and he laughs at me as he says it must be his coverage map blocking my signal.
I though Sprint could connect on VZ s network?
My desk at work is basically in a cellular dead zone. No Wi-Fi either... But I was wondering, I have a brand new Mac Pro with bluetooth capability and AirPort (and USB, of course). Is there a way that I could have my Droid 2 connect to my Mac and use its network connection to access the interwebs? I'm not worried about making calls...
View 4 Replies View RelatedWondering if there's an app that works really well to stream music from my phone (HTC Evo 4g LTE) to my speakers that are hooked to an airport extreme. The ones I have been able to find on the market don't work very well.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDo not get me wrong - I love the Android, especially the vast amount of apps to choose from. But has anyone noticed how much more vibrant and polished the Palm Pre apps are as opposed to Android apps? Take the weather apps for example (Weather Bug or Weather Channel). They are so much brighter and complex on the Pre. I know the Pre apps are far less in number, but the ones that are there seem much more polished. Am I crazy, or does anyone else notice this?
View 36 Replies View RelatedI know the "cool kid in school" thing to do is make fun of the iPhone market for having 1,000's of 'Fart apps'
But let's be honest at the end of the day it's really not true, and now coming from being a previous iPhone owner and now a Droid owner i can honestly say, the iPhone app market wins by a TON.
This is just a general QUALITY of apps comparison as well.
NO i'm not switching back... but man do i miss the iPhone apps...
Especially facebook.. and others..
You can REALLY tell the difference between the quality of iPhone apps vs Android,
So why am i starting this thread?.. Well i'm hoping maybe a developer could chime in and enlighten us on why this is...
Things i'm curious about-
Is programming in android worse then in the iPhone OS? is that why apps are WAY less in quality?
And you can't give the excuse that it's because things are new, when the iPhone market came out the apps were quality at day 1, many of them were.
So what's the difference? i guess software...
Well i'm sticking with android even though this exists.. in hopes that maybe future Android OS updates and SDK's will improve this very obvious difference.. right now i'm not impressed at all... the apps are all Slow, and they look horrible.
And for twitter? holy crap... iPhone owners back me up here, but the iPhone twitter apps are lightyears ahead of android twitter apps.
Just take a look at Tweetdeck for iPhone, and compare to to what i guess is the best android twitter app, twidroid?
Compare those and you'll see what i'm talking about.
Is there a way to remove apps from My Android Apps list, on Android Market / Google Play? I have a few hundred in my list and a few dozen of those are apps I plan to never install again. I'd like to remove them from my list in the Market/Play. I've already uninstalled them from my phone.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am under the impression that android apps can require other apps to be installed in other to operate. The main example I know is the zxing barCode scanner app, which gets used by a number of other apps. The zxing barcode app is free, but I was wondering what would happen if it wasn't?In particular, what would the user experience be like? How would they be notified, if at all, about the paid app requirement?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAre there any apps that will record what another app is doing? For example, when I use an app and it sends data, or receives data etc, is there a way for me to monitor what and how it's being done? Be it via wifi, sprint, to what servers, from what servers etc.
I dont just need to know HOW the data is being sent, I need to know everything about it. From, to, ip's, url's, etc.
Basically I want to see what an apps doing and possibly block certain things.
Is anyone aware of a listing of apps that require Android 2.1 to run (e.g. apps like Google Goggles, etc.)? I've searched the threads here at Android Forums and elsewhere and haven't been able to find such a list or site.
Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.
I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
I'm sure its been covered somewhere but does anyone have an explanation as to why when I open advanced task killer it tells me a bunch of apps, that I didn't open, are running? Doesn't really slow my phone down too much, just annoying... Running Eris Root KaosFroyo
