I'm new to smart phones. I've never owned one before and now I'm the proud owner of a droid X. I'm confident in my handling so far, but I need some help with my knowledge of apps.
I want an app that will let me have rotating wallpapers and possibly rotating ringers. I want to be able to customize a little more. Does that exist?
What is the best app for ringers and wallpapers? Any others that are a must?

Is there a way to modify the ringers that come stock with android? for instance, if i select the ringtone "standard 4", it sounds like a very basic ring.. but when you actually use it he pause between rings is ridiculously short and just makes the ringer completely obnoxious. is there a way to set how long the pause between rings is? if not, whats the best place to find a good basic/office type ringer?

I was listening to music, and did not like the fact that when I had a notification, or someone called the phone's speaker would sound along with my earphones. Would like to make it so that the sound only comes through the earphones, but I did not find anything in the settings menu.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got a Droid about 2 weeks ago and I'm having a few small problems after coming from using Blackberrys for years.
1) After the phone goes to "sleep" and the screen locks, I'm not getting any ringers or notifications. I've missed a number of calls with my phone just sitting on the desk. It rings fine if the screen is on.
2) I use an IMAP/POP3 email address (.edu email) and my gmail. The POP3 will push to the phone OK for a bit(maybe 3-4hrs?) and then I don't get notifications anymore. If I turn the phone off and back on, it will check normally for a while before stopping again. have the check interval set to 30min.
I am new to the Droid, I was wondering I have moved music to the droid ( from Verizon ) from my computer, and just put them under the memory card, the songs are saved in the area of music, I can listen to the songs, just don't know how to make a specific song or ringtone as a text message ringer or email.

My question is this (I have searched everywhere and No answer), When you sync your phone, does it also Save the Ringers for the Individual Contacts? I remember with all my Windows phones before, when I would Hard Reset etc. it would automatically bring back saved Pictures and Ringers on each individual contact. If not, is there a way of doing it? Does the Evo back itself up as a say an iPod Touch does. (I like that just to be Safe in case of Hard Resets).

Im not willing to 'ROOT' my phone, im patiently waiting for 2.1.
Been trying hard since sunday to figure out how to add custom alarms to the alarm clock. I just miss alot of my alarms and want to be able to continue to use them on the Hero. so far everything I have tried does not work. I even created a "Media" folder with 3 sub folders "Alarms", "notifications", "Ringtones" even by placing them in these folders still nothing. I have been able to use the media player to add my music as a ringtone, however the music I have placed in the ringtone folder does not show up either in my phone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI missed mytouch from when I had tmobile and got the Samsung intercept from sprint(back to my old plan) and I love it. However I've always loved on sprint phones being able to customize absolutely everything. I could make a ringer for someone when they call(which yes, I know how to do this on my android and have) but I also was able to make a special text/sms/notification ringtone for individuals as well. I only like hearing the message alert for certain people and then silent/vibrate for everyone else so it's getting frustrating. Are there any apps that do this? or any way to at all?

Anyone know where I can find, say, a Samsung or Sanyo ringer pack? Or a bunch of standard cell phone ringers? I've searched the android market and several apps therein and can't find what i'm looking for.
View 11 Replies View RelatedMy biggest problem these days seems to be around the reminder tones for text messages, e-mails, calendar, etc. They only ring one time and it is this little bitty noise. If you don't hear it then you are out of luck unless you just happen to look at your phone. Is there an app where I can put different tones that will continue to beep with reminders until I acknowledge it?

Then as I started getting calls throughout the day, I noticed that all of my contacts had their ringers reset to the default ringer instead of their custom one. I haven't seen or heard of this problem anywhere else. I know people have had their messages completely wiped but this seems to be only Phone data.

1) After reading several reviews, it seems that in 4G areas/use the battery lasts about a half to full day. This is very concerning to me especially since I'm in a 4G area and would like to take advantage of it. Has anyone had experience with the phone in a 4G market and used 4G heavily in 1 day?
2) Are the ringers loud in addition to the speakerphone? Can you hear the phone ring at its highest setting on a busy street? I had an iphone 1st gen and even with the ringer at its highest volume, I'd miss a lot of calls.
Just downloaded a great wallpaper Widget called swichwallpaper. It works great but the stock one isnt bad either but how do I put my own wallpapers into the phones wallpapers NOT my pictures file. I used ASTRO file manager but I can not fide the folder that my G1 uses to store wallpaper. Does anyone know? I do Not have a Rooted Phone. Something tells me I will need that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm very new to Android programming, but have put a Live Wallpaper on the market, and its doing surprisingly well. What I want do is make some money out of it, but I don't know the technical architecture to use. What I want is for users to be able to change the settings of the wallpaper far more directly than through the whole wallpaper settings, and tie that settings screen it into an application that I sell. I can intercept a single tap and hence a double tap on a blank area of the screen in a wallpaper, and do already in my app. Could I use this to fire up a regular application to edit the wallpaper settings? Could I pick from two settings screens, depending on whether they had installed my paid app? How would I send the settings back? Could I use intents?
What about the other way? Could I have a desktop app which sent settings info to a Live Wallpaper? What if it isn't running? Can I/ should I try and communicate through the SD file system - although its only a few hundred bytes of data? Finally, as I want to sell a premium version, can my Live Wallpaper check to see if the premium version is installed? Sorry, I have no idea, but my product is doing well and I want to do this properly
It was recommended to me (before someone told me to set up my SD card differently with a media folder..it works too) to use the apps:

They have both sounds and walls, with Mabilio having more just sounds and not songs
But with both you can't really download them--they are downloaded per se' but only within their own app
So I downloaded the opening to Droid Droooooiiiiiiiddd LOL
It gave me the opportunity to assign as major notification or not, or to assign as a ringtone to someone, but i could NOT use as email, sms or mms and when I went into sms or mms, I only found my folder I was speaking above with that one NOT in there
How change a folder on my sd card OR i believe my sd is fine, I think I need a new app?
I recently just bought my HTC Evo and already have a question about the wallpapers I choose to use. Why is it that whenever I select a wallpaper to set on my desktop it forces me to crop just a portion of the picture instead of allowing the entire picture to be used on the home screen? I'm making sure that the size of the wallpaper is correct, but despite my attempts, no matter what site I download the wallpaper from it still insists on making me crop just a portion of the pic to use. Anyone know how to help with this?
