Oct 4, 2010From the posting so far I have seen, the current emulator as of API level 8 and Platform 2.2 does not support OpenGL ES 2.0. (Only in the emulator that the support is not there)
(The support is there at API level 8 for the ES 2.0)
wondering if any jone has figured out the following
1. Will the emulator support ES 2.0 in the future (considering there is compilers, shaders etc needed to support es 2.0) 2. What is a likely timeframe this may be available? (months or sometime future?)
I suppose considering that iPhone SDK has the emulator suppor for es 2.0, it can be anticipated on the Android emulator as well.
Android :: Proxy Support Not Working In Droid 1.6 Emulator / Way To Fix
Sep 17, 2009After upgrading to SDK 1.6 the emulator seems to be unable the Internet through a proxy (-http-proxy option). The same is working in SDK 1.5R3.
Can anyone confirm? Did I miss something?

Oct 13, 2009I would like to check from my app whether the device has WiFi connectivity, but in order to do that, I must first find a way to get "WiFi" in the emulator. Just going to Settings -> Wireless controls -> Wifi says Unable to start Wi-Fi, while logcat says:How can I simulate WiFi connectivity in the emulator?

May 20, 2010I have two wifi locations set up on my inc as preferred. It used to automatically connect to which ever of those two it saw as soon as I turned on WiFI with my widget. Now i have to physically go into "settings -> wireless and networks" and then it sees the network and connects. Is there a setting somewhere I changed or something to get it to auto-connect again?

Jan 31, 2009I've been trying to create a local connection to a computer with a Socket from the emulator thinking that it would automagically uses a emulated wifi connection. It doesn't work, in particular because wifi is not supported on the emulator:
- Does a Socket connection automatically choose the fastest connection (the wifi one if it exists).
- Why wifi not supported by the emulator? Will it be?
For those in countries still not blessed by the grace of having the possibility to buy a Gphone, that can be useful...

Mar 17, 2009I am currently doing my Bachelor Project concerning Android Programming.
Therefore i need a possibility to SCAN/DISCOVER Hot-Spots or WLAN's where i can connect to.
In many topics i have read, that the EMULATOR does NOT support WiFi scan with WiFiManager. I also tried using ConnectivityManager or BroadcastReceiver. But it doesn't ever work.
So my question ist the following - is it CORRECT that the emulator does not support any kind of WLAN Scan/Discovery? I need as many comments on this as possible - because only if its REALLY true, that the emulator does not provide WIFI functioanlity, then i can ask for buying a Dev Phone.
And if so, WHY there is no WiFi support within the emulator...?

Jul 9, 2010I have an android application that parses some HTML, downloads an image, and displays it. I'm using an AsyncTask to do the HTML parsing and image downloading, but that shouldn't be relevant. I never have a problem when I'm on WiFi on my phone, when I'm using the Eclipse debugger on my phone, or when I'm using the emulator. When I have my phone on the cell network (even with pretty good reception), the image sometimes fails to display. I'm having a hard time figuring out what is wrong, since the problem cannot be reproduced in the debugger. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Jun 9, 2010I'm working on a Push Notifications library for Android (http://deaconproject.org/) that needs to take action if network connectivity is interrupted or changed - namely, it needs to re-initiate a server connection or pause its operation until network connectivity is available. This seems to work fine using and Android BroadcastReceiver for "android.net.ConnectivityManager.CONNECTIVITY_ACTION".
My problem is in testing the library - I would like to automatically test the library's response to a broken network connection, or a transition from 3G to WiFi, under various configuration conditions. The problem is, I don't want to sit with the emulator and hit F8 all day.
Is there a way to programmatically manipulate network connections on Android from within a jUnit test without resorting to toggling Airplane Mode? I've already tried issuing commands to the emulator via the console, manipulating the GSM mode, etc, but while the phone state changes on the display, the Internet connection remains up.

Oct 28, 2009I tap weather icon, get current location no city name and the weather info, I then tap "+" hit my location and it finds my city Corning NY, I add this to the weather app, I close out and hit weather app again and now I have to locations, the one that says current location and the one that says Corning NY, both weather datas are the same. My question is how to I delete or get rid of the current location weather data screen and have only the Corning NY screen when I open the weather app? The data for both is the same but I don't want 2 locations(one named) for the same data.

May 17, 2010So since the 2.1 OTA my weather widget will display the city, but no weather icon. if i sync it manually, it will show up. with 1.5 it would update every 3 hours, regardless if i had Background data on or off (i normally keep it off).
so now with 2.1 it wont sync unless i have BG data on, or do it manually. any way around this?

Sep 10, 2010I tried removing it and adding it back about ten times and it still won't show the weather..just says "my location" under the clock. If I click on the clock and load it, I can then click on the clock and it will load the weather screen, updated and all...but it still refuses to load it on the home screen with the time. Happened a few days after froyo update. How can I get the weather back as part of the clock widget??

It also used to update the weather every hour and show a sun in the day and a moon at night but now even at 12 at night it still shows the sun. I've also set the weather sync in settings to update ever hour. does anyone know what it could be thats different in my phone now?
