Android : Way To Have A Skype For Droid?
Nov 2, 2010Is there a possibility to have a Skype on Android (especially in Samsung Galaxy S)?

Is there a possibility to have a Skype on Android (especially in Samsung Galaxy S)?
Here is what I would like to do:
I have an HTC Magic and I have a couple of contacts who I frequently talk with on skype. Is there anyway to talk with them skype-to-skype on the Android phone?
The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.
I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.
Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?
My dad is going overseas and has a BlackBerry Storm with Skype and I have a Droid with Skype. Can I call him overseas for free using skype? I know that if we both used our laptops to talk it would be free, so is there any difference in using skype mobile to skype mobile?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have to build a feature in my application which allows user to send a skype message.
For this I have installed skype lite client for Android (although offically the download has been currently withdrawn from Skype).
Now how to initiate the activity from my application OR simply send the chat message without bringing it front, assuming I have skype installed in Android & also signed in already.
I had Skype a while ago but when I did the 2.1 ROM update I cant find it in the Android market? Is it because of the update or is it gone from the market.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have the leaked 2.1 version installed on my phone and Skype doesn't show up in the Market at all, and I can't update it through Skype.com's download link either. Is there any way I can update it via some apk uploaded somewhere else?

Is there a mod out there that allows Skype over WiFi?
So I saw that Droid commercial showcasing some popular apps and noticed a skype app. I've searched for it many times before and just though that there was no skype app on the android market, but apparently there is. Whenever I search for it I can't get it to come up though. Anybody having this problem or know of a fix?! I did the manual install of 2.1 a few months back btw, in case that makes a difference.
View 7 Replies View RelatedCould this be because I'm rooted? it says my device isn't supported. but it clearly shows a picture of the droid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSorry if this should be somewhere else, but I'm have an X with the leaked 2.2 on it. I've heard about the Skype Mobile update but it's not showing up in my downloads. Wasn't sure if it's a delay or an issue in the fact that I have the leaked 2.2 version on my phone. I can't find it in the Market and I can't find a barcode to compare it to either.
View 7 Replies View Relatedjust announced and released, a new version of Skype that CAN use wifi, something everyone was clamoring for. I have not loaded up yet, but might try later today and see how wifi works. it is getting okay Comments, but not great. Huge 14mb - which for rooted people is okay as we can force it to the SD card as it is not native SD card app though. No video ability. apparently sign-out or logging off is a bit tricky and hidden.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've heard Skype is a little picky about which phones it works on, and I've noticed when doing a regular Astro backup of my apps that Skype is listed as being 'protected.' Does skype have any trouble running on custom ROMs?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I use Skype Mobile it seems to reset my Home button (as if I had gone to the application manager and reset to defaults) so I have to keep selecting Helix Launcher every single time after using Skype.
Obviously I check the "Use by default for this action" box each time.
Only Skype Mobile seems to do this. I have also tried powering off and back on.
Both listed under applications->running services as always running. I don't need/use either so how do I get rid of them?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLooks like the new Skype app won't work over 3G in the US, probably because the carriers would whine about it. I have put together a modified version of the skype apk from the market that works over 3G anywhere. Be sure to uninstall the Market app first!
