Android : Way To Enable Number Of Columns And Rows On Home Screen

Oct 9, 2010

I have been using LaucherPro for about a month now and really like it. I finally found out how to swipe gesture my dock and all.

Now my problem is that I decided to play with setting a little more and wanted to enable the number of columns and rows on the home screen. I sit my columns to 3 and rows to 1, then attempted to add widgets. However, when I do do I get a message saying that there is no more room on my home screen. I don't have anything on my home screen so I'm not understanding what I am doing wrong. I uninstalled and reinstalled LP and still the same problem.

Android :: Radio Group Over Two Columns / Rows?

May 15, 2010

I create a set of RadioButtons in a RadioGroup on the fly (no XML), and would like to arrange them in either two columns or two rows - right now they are in a single column. I could of course create two sets of RadioButtons, and place each in a different RadioGroup view, but presumably then I would have to control the active state of each button by taking into account both views. Does anyone have an idea how to better do this?

Motorola Droid X :: LPP - Adding More Rows And Columns While Fitting Widgets?

Nov 3, 2010

I was so excited when LPP updated a while back and added the option for additional rows and columns....but it didn't resize things the way I wanted. I had hoped it would be tweeked and it seems better now but I'm still having an issue with Beautiful Widgets on the full size Home Weather. It doesn't fit the entire information completely with temp, etc. without pulling it down to fit across about 3 rows...which makes it look huge

Anyone else have this problem? Or should I just accept it and use the smaller Beautiful Home widget? And is there a way to resize the text size under the description of the app? I can remove it and kind of like it without it...but was curious if I'm missing something

HTC Incredible :: Reduce Number Of Home Screens Remember Last Home Screen

Jul 7, 2010

Two things I'd like to be able to do with my incredible.First is reduce the number of homescreens. Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.

Motorola CLIQ : Whenever Reply To Message Off The Home Screen Widget - Automatically Defaults To Home Number For That Contact

Feb 21, 2010

This is more of an annoyance, but whenever I reply to a message off the home screen widget, it automatically defaults to the home number for that contact, instead of replying to the same (cell) number that it was sent from. If I go into the messaging app, it works as it should (replies to the same number).

Android :: Set Number Of Columns Programmatically In TableLayout?

Apr 28, 2010

I have an XML layout which contains a TableLayout with an unknown number of TableRows...
The number of Rows will be established durin runtime, what I do know though is that I want two columns...
So I have a couple of questions regarding this :

- is there a way to set the whole TableLayout to have 2 columns ?

- is there a way programmatically to give an id to the (during runtime) created TableRows which will be placed within the TableLayout, so I can reference them later on from other parts of the software ?

Android :: Change Number Of Thumbnails Seen In Sample Home Application?

Mar 16, 2010

I am working with the sample Home application project on http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/Home/index.html

I've added another value to the THUMBS_IDS and IMAGE_IDS Integer arrays in the Wallpaper class for a total of four wallpaper options.

When I run the application with Device API version 7, Skin: HVGA, hw.lcd.density: 160, in portrait layout, the fourth wallpaper option is not shown.

I need to use the directional keys in the emulator to see the 4th wallpaper option, because the first option is centered.

I have modified only the wallpaper.xml file with a variety of android:layout_* options with no success at this point.

How do I show all four of my wallpaper options?

Android :: Home Screen Widget Size In Normal Screen And Largest Screen

Mar 31, 2010

I am designing a home screen widget. I ran this widget on a HTC Hero device, which has a screen of 320 pixels * 480 pixels with mdpi. It ran perfect on HTC Hero. The widget takes 3 cells * 2 cells space, i.e. 240 pixels * 200 pixels. Then I ran this widget on a Nexus One device, which has a screen of 480 pixels * 800 pixels, mdpi. Since Nexus One also is mdpi, so I though 240dip is equivalent to 240 pixels on Nexus One and 200dip is equivalent to 200 pixels on Nexus One, so the widget will not take 3 cells * 2 cells space on Nexus One device. To my surprise, when running on Nexus One device, the widget take exact 3 cells * 2 cells, about 360 pixels * 300 pixels, on Nexus One device.I am confused. The layout xml above specifies 240dip in width and 200dip in height for the widget, but why did it take 360 pixels * 300 pixels on Nexus One Device? What am I missing?

Android :: Enable / Disable PatternLock Screen From Code

Feb 3, 2010

I try to find a way to disable the PatternLock screen temporary. I don't want the lock to be disabled completely, but the user should not need to re-enter his pattern all the time.

My idea is to write a service which disables the pattern after some user activity and re-enables it after a while. (and even more)

There are apps on the market that do something like that (i.e. AutoLock or TogglePattern), so there must be a solution ;)

I know that I can prevent a lock completely by using:
getWindow().addFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON)
or
KeyguardLock.disableKeyguard()

But that is not what I'm after.

I saw the class "com.android.internal.widget.LockPatternUtils" in the android sources which is used by the settings activity, but this class is not (at least as far as I know) accessible for a "normal" application.

Do you have an advice?

HTC Droid Eris :: OTA 2.1 Contact Number Defaulting To Facebook Home Numbers When Linked

May 26, 2010

I am not sure if this came up in one of the topics, but I may have missed it.

For the past week, I noticed some of my contact priority number was defaulting to the number I least call. This morning, while trying to figure how to make priority changes, I noticed it was due to linking it to facebook.

I linked my wife's info with her facebook and the priority number (mobile) pushed it to her home number information she has on her facebook account. So instead of me just going to click on my wife's name or say a command to call wife, I have to scroll to find the number I want to call.

I there a fix for this to let us set the priorities?

Android :: Home Screen Widget Size For Large Screen Or Hdpi?

From Android widget screen guidelines,we know that, home screen has 4*4 cells, and in portrait orientation, each cell is 80 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall. I think these are for baseline HVGA screen. How about for large screens and hdpi screens, do they still have 4*4 cells for widget and each cell in portrait orientation is still 80 pixels * 100 pixels?
