I'm working with Eclipse and writing an Android application. I've noticed that the load times to the Android emulator can vary significantly. Recently, I found that manually going back to the main menu of the emulator helps my application load much faster. Is there a quicker way (read: automatic way) to exit out of my application rather than hitting the Back button multiple times until I get to the main app menu? Secondly, is there something I am doing wrong that factors into the longer load time?

Does it take a bit for this to load for everyone or just my unlucky phone?
When testing Android layouts, I'm constantly building for three different emulators from Eclipse (with ADT), so I have to run three times and then select each one. Is there any configuration or plugin that allows me to press Run once and the application is started in all three?

I want to make two emulators use the same SD-Card image. I automatically created a SD-Card in the first emulator and downloaded all the data to this SD-Card.
How can I load this SD-Card in another emulator? I don't want to recreate all the data on the SD-Card for every single emulator all the time.

Is there a way to reload an Android application in the emulator without closing the emulator, saving any code changes, and running the emulator again? If I make even a simple change to the layout, it takes about 30 seconds by time I run it in Eclipse and Android "boots", and I can unlock the emulator to run the application. Is there any way to shorten this time when making changes, or is it something I just have to deal with?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to guess why a user would report "Force quits every time I load" the problem does not occur for all users, especially not me.The system constructs a database when it first loads. I suspect that user's phone does not have enough memory.Questions: How can I verify that the system has enough memory to store a small database?
What else might cause a user's particular system to force quit on startup?Wrong answers or things I've tried thus far:The user's hardware is probably different than mine The user's software and available memory is likely different as well The data is already loading in its own thread, with a progress dialog showing
I got Android Kitkat update for Moto G this Friday, here at India .. Update went smooth and looks good. But now the phone dialpad does not load at all the first time I touch the dialpad icon (it brings up a small white panel layout). Pressing the dialpad again second time loads up the new cool dialpad introduced in 4.4.2 kitkat update.
View 5 Replies View Relatedat the moment I am thinking about a new app and need some information to decide whether to develop on Android or an alternative OS. I am particularly interested in "time to first screen", "boot-up time", "time to first Audio" and "app-start" (can be any from the android market or even one of the pre-installed ones) time? Does anyone know a source or perhaps measured those numbers?

I have a nexus one also and did a quick comparison... both have relatively the same apps ( i keep them as synced as possible)
Now its not really an Apples to Apples Comparison as I have Froyo running on nexus but what made me raise an eyebrow was when the little Loading Indicator doesn't smoothly move while its loading.

View 6 Replies View Relatedfew weeks ago I encountered a problem. My Android SDK 1.5 emulator became very slow and CPU consuming. This happened earlier, but was irregular just removing AVDs usually helped. Few weeks ago I installed Android SDK 1.6, tried to move my dev environment there and noticed that emulator runs very slowly. I rolled back to 1.5 and noticed that the same problem is there. What's going on: - emulator startup is pretty slow; - sometimes emulator hangs on startup; - sometimes after startup is complete I see Force close/Wait dialog for some Android applications/services (Alarm clock, messaging) - applications inside the emulator run MUCH slower than they ran before, I see delays in response even in launcher, when I just switching between icons with arrow keys (at this time CPU usage according to the task manager is from 35 to 50%, i.e. one core is completely busy). - now, when I'm typing this message, emulator (clean, newly created AVD, I haven't installed nothing there, just out of the box) occupied 50% of my CPU (and 140MB of RAM). Hardware: Intel Core2Duo T7500 (2.2GHz) + 2GB RAM. OS: Vista I don't have any problems with 1.6 on Linux (Kubuntu 7.10), emulator starts quickly, responds in a flash, and seldom consumes more than 20% of CPU time (usually in case my application is working with DB).

I think i'm getting senile because I was convinced that to give a name to your application, you had to fill this part of the manifest: <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="MyApplicationName"> However for a reason I don't understand, my application gets the name of my first activity, in which I load data, henceforce, It is called "Loading"...(defined as follows in the manifest) <activity android:name="AccueilSplash" android:label="Loading">
