Android :: Tell A (droid) WebView To Start Off At Custom Scale?

Jun 18, 2010

I'm trying to tell a WebView to scale the page down to a certain percent. I've tried using setInitialScale() as that seems to be exactly what I want, but it seemed to have no effect.

Am I just missing something obvious?

Android Webview - After Changing Scale To 1.5 It Reverting Back?

Apr 26, 2014

I wrote a sample application which displays some test message using webview .The Application has two activities, one activity simply contains a button, when user click on this button , it launch another activity which display the test message on a webview .

I have set setInitialScale() of webview as 150, Now the issue is like, Normally webvbiew displays the content with the scale size 150 (as I set ) but some times it displays the contents with a scale greater than 150.

I overrided the onScaleChanged() function in webViewClient.

In normal case before drawing the content on webview I am getting onScaleChanged() callback ,with the value oldscale as 2 and new scale as 1.5. When issue occurs , I am getting two onScaleChanged() callbacks before drawing the content!!! ,at first I get the onScalechange() callback with oldscale as 2 and new scale as 1.5 , after that getting another onScaleChanged() callback with oldscale as 1.5 and new scale as 2.0 and hence it draws the webview with the scale 2.0 irrespective of setInitialScale() I have given in my application.

This issue happens only in the case if I set setInitialScale() to a value less than device's default webview scale. As per my understanding ,Every device has its own default Scale for webview based on their display property like .075 for ldpi and 1.5 for hdpi etc )

In my device defaultScale for webview is 2, and I set the setInitialScale() as 1.5(150)

normaly webview reset the scale from 2 to 1.5 before draw ( That is from defult to new value ) and it works fine
But some time after changing the scale to 1.5 it reverting back to 2. and issue occurs

public class webActivity extends Activity {
@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
[Code].....

Android :: Emulator Fails To Start When Using Scale (Win7 X64)

Jul 23, 2010

Windows 7 x64
Eclipse Helios x64
JDK x64
Android SDK r06

When I try to start an emulator from Eclipse (Android SDK setup application) with the scale parameter it just fails. Second Command Prompt screen (which I think is actually a Java app) shows some exception but it closes itself right after. This is very annoying because without the scale, WVGA emulator does not fit on my laptop's screen. Any idea how to fix this? And when I try to start an emulator from Command Prompt with the scale, it works.

Android :: Sending Custom Headers In WebView

Mar 12, 2010

I've found some information about this topic, but I was curious as to whether anyone has had any success loading webpages in a WebView with custom headers. There doesn't seem to be any simple way of doing this. I've seen an implementation that involved downloading the webpage and separately loading the data into the WebView. While this is not difficult, the WebView then demonstrated problems with relative URLs and downloading images.

Android :: Possible To Set Custom HTTP Headers In WebView?

I have to access a web page from within my application and, in order to have access to it, I need to set some custom HTTP headers. I want to use the WebViewclass in my activity but, as far as I can tell, it's not possible to set custom HTTP headers.

So is there a way of using the existing web browser (or WebView) with custom HTTP headers? My application targets Android 1.6.

Android :: Load HTML File To WebView With Custom CSS

Nov 6, 2010

I have a WebView on my Android application which loads (WebView.loadUrl()) different local HTML files from phone's internal storage. I would like to include some custom css styles for them, Now, I could have my app edit every HTML file and add linking reference for the CSS file.I could also read the file contents, add the CSS linking and use WebView.loadData() to load it.But is it possible to do this a lot simpler and efficiently.Note: The HTML files are downloaded from a website. So editing them manually is not possible in this case, but once downloaded they can be edited via the app if necessary.

Android :: Custom Protocol Handler For Urls In Webview

Nov 6, 2010

I am hoping to create my own protocol handler for urls in a webview. I have tried two approaches already. The first was to attempt something similar to the approach defined here to create a customer protocol handler. http://java.sun.com/developer /onlineTraining/ protocol handlers / This works in a command-line Java program if I correctly set the system property java.protocol.handler.pkgs, but it does not work in Android, probably because I cannot figure out where to define this system property. Defining the system property in the code does not work. I assume this is because it needs to be loaded when the application first starts. I have also attempted to use URL.setURLStreamHandlerFactory. This works for creating URL objects within the code, but it does not seem to be associated with the WebView. Any ideas on how to get this working?

Android :: Scale A Background Image Of A TextView For Droid?

Aug 13, 2010

I'm battling with extending a TextView for my Android app. I'd like to create "bubbles" to display text messages in a conversation, similar to the native iPhone SMS conversations.

Is there a way to implement the resizing of a background image without just stretching it? I'd like to have a single background image that keeps it's corners but get stretched only in defined areas. I think this should be possible because I've seen it in a SMS app, but I wonder how to implement that.

Aug 24, 2009

I have an image, say 16px from our designer. I want to Set it as the background image on a view, but the view is larger than the image. So I want to anchor the image at the top of the view, and then have the view fill in the bottom with a solid color.

Is this possible in the current version of android, 1.5_r3?

Here is what I have so far, but the image is scaling to take up the entire view, and I am not sure how to set the image as background and specify a solid color at the same time. I suspect I need to wrap the view in a containing view which has the color specified, is that the best way to do it? code...

I've created a custom ViewGroup (based off of the Launcher) that allows paging scrolls between some WebViews. Problem is that it doesn't scroll as smoothly as I want it to. I've been following Romain Guy's 2008 advice, but I don't see any massive improvements. Is it because I am using WebViews, or am I just doing the prescaling wrong? This is my code:

Bitmap originalImage = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.redbg);
originalImage = Bitmap.createScaledBitmap( originalImage, // bitmap to resize ((WindowManager)
getSystemService(Context.WINDOW_SERVICE)).getDefaultDisplay().getWidth(),
// new width ((WindowManager)getSystemService(Context.WINDOW_SERVICE))
.getDefaultDisplay().getHeight(), // new height true); // bilinear filtering
getWindow().setBackgroundDrawable(new BitmapDrawable(originalImage));
called from onCreate. Is the right?
