I selected what i want the FAT32 and the ext2 to be and hit apply and it then tells me it is done and i need to reboot it and has a button to click but it didn't work so i did it by going to power and shutting down and restarting, but nothing happens, i even went back to the app several times after trying it and it tells me the same thing each time. Is there something i am forgetting to do, or what can i do to partition my sdcard and be able to save my apps to my sd card.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHTC Hero: Rooted with 2.1 and previously running absolutely fine but for some reason today I'm not able to save/download anything.
I tried to download a picture off the internet and it was saying there was not enough space (even though the phone memory has 122mb free thanks to Apps2SD and my SD card has over 3GB free) so I tried to email the picture from my PC, received on my phone and when I try to download the picture it says you need an SD card to do this... but the card IS being seen by the phone because my apps are running, I can access music and pictures that are on it.
I unmounted the card and then remounted it and my phone went into a loop, trying to reinitialise and couldn't do it. So I just restarted the phone and, again, all apps work but cannot save or download anything.
I'm trying to avoid wiping everything and starting from scratch but seeing as I've been meaning to move to 2.2 I think it might be an idea...
Deffo seems to just be an SD card problem, had an old MMS message, tried to save it and it wouldn't worked. Used the SaveMMS app and that brought up a long error string which basically pointed to a problem with the SD card. What confuses me though is that I can still read from it (playing music) and I just deleted a couple of pictures off it which surely constitutes editing?
I tell you, I love this phone but I hate it. Compared to a Windows Mobile device where everything is as simple as dragging and dropping into folders, this phone gives me such headaches with its overly simplistic (and limited) processes. threads on making your own mp3 ringtone, I've got a kick-ass sampling from The Church's "Under the Milky Way" (you know the part. The synth bagpipe bridge). BUT I can only save it to the storage card. Which isn't a problem except until I get some spare cash, I can't quite swing a 16gb yet. Lots of little 512mb (don't laugh!) cards that I swap frequently (and I'd like a little sit-down with the person who designed the card slot cover to only be opened by gerbil paws). Is there a way to save my custom ringtone directly to the phone? Or will I have to stick it on every card until that glorious payday when I can get a 16gb?

Is it possible to have my Camera app save recordings (videos) to a custom directory? Currently, the only option I see available is "Save to Phone", or "Save to SD Card".
I'd like to be able to save to my SD Card, however, I'd like for the saved files to not be in the folder "DCIM". I'd like to make a custom directory.
Is this possible? How would I go about achieving this?
My phone is currently rooted.

Im developing an app which is a product catalogue. Users can search for and view products (books). It's all read only and just so allow user's to view products. When the user clicks on a product, the next screen displays
- book title
- book author
- picture of front cover.
It's the picture part that I've a question about. I know one way to present drawables is to have them in the "drawable" direction in my android project and access them (in my xml file) as android:src="@drawable/name".
Only problem is that new products will be added so I can't store drawables in the APK file when I release it. I'll need to read them at runtime. I'm wondering what the best way to approach this is.
I'm thinking of upon app launch executing an AsyncTask which would call
openConnection of HttpURLConnection and would grab down all drawable(from a particular remote directory on a website) and would then store them in the sqllite db (as a blob). Each product in the db could easily be associated with it's specific drawable.
Not sure if there's a better approach to this ? or should I save them to the internal storage of the device (I know the size is an issue with this option). Or I could, when I show the product, call the Async task to present the image - i.e.get the image when the user requests it. This sounds good.
I am using a SurfaceView, and wish to animate Drawables. All the animation tutorials I have seen concern using an ImageView, which as I understand is not a sensible approach from within a SurfaceView. Does anyone have any suggestions for doing frame-by-frame animation within a SurfaceView? Can it be done with openGL?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to draw a "gauge" on the screen with information from various sensors. I have a class that extends Drawable and a custom view that during construction creates a new AnimationDrawable and sets the only frame to my custom Drawable. I then start the AnimationDrawable from my Activity onWindowFocusChanged method. My custom Drawable onDraw method is only called once though. Is that by design (as in onDraw is called for each frame once and it's cached and shown over and over) or am I doing something wrong?

I want to use a number of ShapeDrawables in my application, which are all similar, but with different colours etc. Obviously I could just define them all in separate xml files, but is there a more efficient way to have one xml definition, instantiate various objects and change the colour either in code or xml? You could perhaps do this by calling mutate() on one ShapeDrawable defined in xml, but this returns a Drawable, rather than a shape drawable.
