HTC EVO 4G : Data Network Unavailable - None Of My Applications Get Internet Aceess And Mobile Network Status Says Turning On
Jul 5, 2010I seem to be seeing an issue with the data network access on the EVO. When it happens none of my applications get internet aceess and my mobile network status says "turning on". The only way I've found to fix it is to pull the battery. Any one else seeing this? If so is there a better fix than pulling the battery?

May 29, 2010My eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

May 1, 2014I found an easy way to transfer app data from one android device to another. Recently switched to galaxy s4 from iPhone 5 and wanted to transfer my app data from my nook tablet that is rooted. I installed es file explorer and helium (carbon) backup on both. Then I backed up the apps i wanted using carbon on my nook. Opened es file explorer and went to carbon folder and selected apps I wanted to transfer, clicked send to and it transfered the files to my s4. Then I put the files into the carbon folder on my s4. Then restored them using carbon. Now I have my Minecraft data on my s4!

When an application receives the shutdown, is there still an opportunity to send data packets out, or does android block such attempts(or does the platform tear down the network stack before it can go out).
HTC EVO 4G :: Profile Not Updated - No Network Support
May 3, 2010My phone will not update profile and connect to the Sprint network. It is completely useless now. I downloaded Launcherpro plus. After that I lost my data connection and checked under settings to see if the mobile network got turned off and it was so I tried to turn it back on and it was stuck in Searching for network. I called Sprint and tried to troubleshoot the problem and couldn't so the tech had me do a hard reset. (everything gonzo now) After 4 hrs on the phone with Sprint. I can't even make a phone call. The phone is completely useless. When I try to connect to the network it just gets stuck in searching mode. It won't update my profile or connect to anything. The whole start up process is not working.

Sep 22, 2011I have an application that receives data in binary form through bluetooth. I read the data using bluetoothsocket to an byte[]. But i must parse all messages, because they must have an given format and they are in binary.
My solution was to convert byte[] to a string and then split the string and parse all received messages.
An example of the data to parse:
0000000010000001
I should know that the first 8 zeros are the header and 10000001 the real data.
My idea was to create a string that represents -> 0000000010000001 and then split the whole string in one byte and check the value, like:
string1 had 00000000
string2 had 10000001
I know that 8 zeros are the header, therefore string2 has the representation of the data.
General :: Notifications Only Received When Using Mobile Data Not WiFi
Nov 24, 2013The facebook messenger app for my Samsung Galaxy Fame only receives notifications of messages when connected to a mobile data network, not when connected to wifi. If I swap to solely using mobile data after a conversation, I receive a string of notifications of all the messages I've just been sent in the conversation which is very frustrating.

What is best practice for:
Displaying a loading indication to the user.
Threading the networking stuff so that the user can cancel the loading of the data if need be / move to the previous activity.
Example/source code would be greatly appreciated - I've used http://www.helloandroid.com/tutorials/newsdroid-rss-reader as an introduction, however it doesn't display a loading indication.

I am bind the connection once,and then I unbind the connection when the user is no more in that page. Everything works fine.Except that when I call the sa,e remote method for 17th time,it just does not call the service at all.It neither throws the DeadObjecti Exception. I have run out of ideas.Is there anything that I may be missing.

I would like play media (video) from a network stream, but the stream comes in a non-standard protocol, so I have to somehow feed Android MediaPlayer with the data only. Is there anyway to do that? I found a few web pages suggesting using a temporary file for the buffered media data etc. but I would like to minimize the I/O usage as much as I can, so I'm looking for a API only solution if there is any? how about JNI? but looks like the permissions going to be an issue with that also.

Since I only have 250 MB included in my plan, I would much rather have the phone on wifi only when I'm at home Problem is, when I turn data network back on, it says "network not available". The only workaround seems to be turning the phone off completely and rebooting. SLOW.By the way, this happens both with the excellent app Quick Settings and the normal Parameters Phone App.I saw someone having similar issues regarding Wifi On/Offwith a Sprint Hero.

He has neither a data plan or a texting plan because he doesn't use them. He's considering an unlocked Legend or N1 if he can find an app/widget that will disable the data network radios on his phone, so he can only use the wifi. Would this work, or are there better apps/widgets you guys know of?

May 28, 2010I've had my desire for around a month now & had no real problems with it, flashed it with a stock ROM initially & then rooted it a couple of days after the root was released. When I woke up this morning I was connected to my WiFi network but when I tried to load a webpage, nothing happens, it comes up with the stock 'Web page not available' page. I tried a couple of web pages but got the same response, I thought it might be my WiFi network but when I got to work, exactly the same thing happens. I can connect via GPRS when I disable the WiFi with no problem. I've been using Y5 Battery Saver for the past two weeks, not sure if that's relevant. Is this a standard error / known bug, how would I go about fixing this, not having WiFi is obviously a bit of pain!
OK, installed a Terminal emulator over 3G & ran a couple of commands, including dmesg. From the output of dmesg it looks like the WiFi connects but then something goes wrong, here's a brief transcript:

Motorola CLIQ :: Disable Network Data?
Jun 26, 2010I received a motorola cliq from a friend who just bought a new blackberry. I am currently an at&t customer and wish to use the cliq but i do not want to have to pay for a data plan. I was wondering if there was a way disable network data and only rely on wifi or if the carrier will disable data usage for my number. thanks a bunch

Nov 20, 2010Is there anyway to allow data transfer over a wireless networ between the galaxy and a computer? I currently can't find my transfer cable and when I email myself songs and download them onto my phone, they are stored as a .mpx which play fine untill the phone is turned off or otherwise refreshes. After this, when trying to play the .mpx files an error message saying"No applications can perform this action" despite the songs playing fine only minutes before.However it would be damn useful just to connect my phone to the network, but while it connects, it doesn't appear in the devices connected to the network.

Aug 13, 2013I'm a SGS2 owner on T-Mobile and a university student. Yesterday morning my phone anomylously deregistered itself from my network, displaying the error message "Not registered on network" whenever I attmpted to make a call.
I phoned Samsung and T-Mobile and resolved the issue by a 'Network Refresh' and manually registering the phone to T-Mobile. I registered manually and had the phone working hours before I got the text from my NSP telling me that I had recieved a network refresh. About which time I noticed that my 3G was not connecting, and has yet to establish a connection today.
