General :: Orbot / Tor Reverse Tethering For PS3
Jan 24, 2012
I want to run tor on my phone and activate wireless tethering. Since I dont have an unlimited data plan I wanted to reverse teather my phone to my PC,so my phone acts like a router for masking traffic from my ps3 to the internet. If that doesn't work,I could set up Tor on my computer to transfer traffic from Android Tool to a foreign server.
Btw setting up proxy on my ps3 doesnt work for the store itself

How can I reverse tether my Android phones to my PC via Bluetooth? Is this even possible?
PC is running Windows 7 x64. Phone is an HTC HD2 running JellyBean AOSP from NAND. I know Wifi would be easiest, but this is a work PC and company policy is we are not allowed to run our own Wifi networks.
I managed to connect the HD2 to the PC via Bluetooth with a PAN network, it only worked when I turned on Internet Tethering on the phone. this makes the HD2 into the server and PC into the client so PC can use phone's internet connection. I need the reverse! I need HD2 to be the client, PC to be the server. I found a Bluetooth PAN client from the Play store, but it can't connect via PAN to the PC. I assume because the MS BT stack only has a PAN client and not server. Is there such a thing as a PAN server for PC? I've looked at Widcomm and Bluesoleil BT stacks, but neither specifically mentions having a PAN server.
I found this tutorial that sounds promising, using DUN instead of PAN: URL....It's for reverse tethering an Android device to another Android device. Looks like BlueVPN on the Android side will do what I want, be a DUN client. However, similar problem to PAN, I can't find a DUN server. It's apparently not built into the MS BT stack either.
Is it even possible to reverse tether an Android phone to PC over Bluetooth? Only other idea I can think of is to use an intermediate device as a bridge. USB reverse tether a phone to PC, and use phone's Bluetooth tethering abilities to tether my bluetooth phone to it.

I have a [rooted] novo 7 Basic (running android 3.2) that I need to reverse tether to an ubuntu machine - through USB
Because this tablet (and other tablets) are not 'phones' - they don't have a native tethering option (which is required for most of the reverse tethering examples that are out there)
I can work with the device through adb - tried setting up a tunnel but I can't get any usb interface to show up with ifconfig
Maybe there is a way to just do it through abd with some ubuntu network configuration?

My desk at work is basically in a cellular dead zone. No Wi-Fi either... But I was wondering, I have a brand new Mac Pro with bluetooth capability and AirPort (and USB, of course). Is there a way that I could have my Droid 2 connect to my Mac and use its network connection to access the interwebs? I'm not worried about making calls...

I'm trying to make a HUD (heads up display) device for my car. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to mirror the screen so that it can be read on the windshield. Is there a way to do this without hardcoding it into the ROM?
If it needs to be in the ROM, where would this be changed?

Right now I have tried a lot of options to get my Nook Color running CM7 to get internet access at work (buggy driver on B&N that doesn't work with our EAP settings), and none of my alternatives are good enough.
I was running my own access point from my computer but then the telecom guys told me to turn it off. Tried Bluetooth tether and that just doesn't work very well (it constantly drops connections).
So I want something seemingly very simple, but I can't find anything anywhere on how to do it. I want to plug my Nook into my computer and use that computer's internet connection. I imagine it can't be very difficult using ADB, but I can't find any information about it.
I have Arch Linux and Debian Linux at work.

I spent 1 month coding an android app, and then I lost the source code in an hdd crash. Well, those things sux, but hopefully I managed to find an old apk build of this app. I was able to recover part of the source code by extracting the classes.dex file, decrypting it with dex2jar, and then opening the decrypted file with java decompiler (jd-gui.exe)... I remained amazed when I saw that my source code was so easy to found...
Now I wonder, why people use smali to reverse apk files instead of dex2jar+jd-gui ??

I have done many of reverse engineering for other electronics in the past, Since Im new to android I was wondering before even wasting my time if is possible to port, or built a rom from sources or a phone thatis NOT External SD built in to a phone that it have the external sd built in.
Making it short can I try to reverse engineer the android code from a Nexus 5 (no ext_sd) to other device that have ext_sd built in?
If is possible where should I be looking to start trying making some development on this as I haven't done nothing close quite.

I am trying to Reverse GeoCode current Lat/Long data to just Admin Area and Sub Admin Area using the Geocoder class.
I am using the NETWORK_PROVIDER as the Location provider. Here is the code that I use and it works. The problem is sometimes it does not give me any location sometimes it does.
Android Manifest permissions I am using.
CODE:.............
Here is the rest of the code that does give me correct location from time to time but nothing at other times.
CODE:..............
Are there restrictions with the network providers how frequently you can request location data?
How can I make sure that everytime its run this can give me valid location data.
Thanks in advance for any insight into this.
PS: I have run this code on my real device running Froyo 2.2 (Verizon Wireless). Target API Level 8.
This is what I got from my debugging.
Latitude Longitude is always fetched but the getFromLocation often returns null for the latitude longitude data passed to it. So what should be the workaround? May be pass the Lat/Long info to Google Maps API for reverse geocoding. Will be glad to receive any input.

I have a G1 and I now have an app named MapDroid BUT so slow to download the maps. If I could hook up my G1 to a computer at the internet cafe that has a ASDL connection it would go much faster AND I would be able to do something else beside watch the yellow bar slooooooowly move. I am not in the USA. One guy said the best way is buy a Bluetooth drive that looks like a flash drive. Plug it in the PC and my G1 should get internet. Not sure. I think files would work but not sure about internet. If the cable won't work then why should bluetooth?

I was informed of the new android update and the perks mentioned seemed pretty impressive. Upon installing the new update I regretted it instantly; the phone is slower, the layout is ugly and choppy unlike the sleek and smooth previous layout and the backup and restore is abysmal, all of my contacts are registered in the messaging (which also looks awful and is terribly confusing) but not in my contacts section. Is there anyway to reverse the upgrade, because I seriously dislike the new one. It is awful to put it bluntly.

Am I able to run both airdroid AND pdanet off the same tether to my pc? (pc has no bluetooth or wifi capabilities, so a hard line is my only option).I loved the features that airdroid gave me and would love to get them working again with my current setup.

after rooting my Androidphone, USB tethering is not working anymore. This is what I do:
1) after connecting the phone to USB the mass media notfication appears. I cancel that notification,
2) and activate "USB Tethering in Settings->Wireless & networks->Tethering & portable hotspot
3) the mass media notfication appears again and disappers instantly (this never happend before),
In the "USB Tethering" field I can see then the message "USB tethering error".In netcat i found this:
D/Tethering( 210): ccmni0 is up!
D/MultiRouterController( 89): doMultiRouterCommands:downstreaminterface: usb0, upstreaminterface: ccmni0, add = 1, MultiRouterCount =0
I//system/bin/ip( 89): RTNETLINK answers: Address family not supported by protocol
I/logwrapper( 89): /system/bin/ip terminated by exit(2)
E/MultiRouterController( 89): run rule add iif usb0 table tethering_table fail
It is an Alcatel991D( Android 2.3.6, Kernel 2.6.35.7) phone. It looks, like kernel options CONFIG_IP_ADVANCED_ROUTER=y CONFIG_ IP_ MULTIPLE_ TABLES =y are not compiled into this kernel.
The problem persists even after installing stock ROM by Alcatel OneTouchUpgrade. Also Wipe data/factory reset/wipe cache partition/wipe dalvik cache did not work."USB debugging" has been already tested (on or off), no change.
