I've had my Hero for about 24 hours now but thinking about upgrading to the Evo but I want to know if I buy any apps and then switch to the evo do I need to download them and buy them all over again? If that's the case I will wait before buying any of them.

I may need to reset my phone, but have paid for a few apps, obviously they will disappear, would I need to rebuy the same apps? or is it somehow logged that I have already bought them, thus wont need to buy again?

View 20 Replies View RelatedAre there any plans to implement some sort of group/team to review the applications before they're released onto the Market?I've never written anything for iPhone but from what I've read there's at least some quality control in place an application has to go through some sort of review process before it's made available for public consumption, I believe.So why not do that here?Let's be honest there are some great programs out there, and there's absolute crap.some of these are borderline scams.I can think of a few apps that have great descriptions but when you download them, they're nothing more than slideshows or something similar.I've even seen the feedback for one of these applications which said that you have to wait 24 hours before it will work which is, as we all know, the time at which the sale is final and no refund is given.If that's not a dodgy practice I don't know what is.I know it's still an early stage in the game for the platform but it's got a lot of potential - we wouldn't be here if it wasn't, would we? The only way to draw more quality developers to the platform is to implement some sort of control. it seems like it's the wild west here.

With the new features I am about to release in the latest version, and with paid apps now possible, I intend to split the app into a free lite/trial version and a paid full version.I am aware that I must create a new app with a new signature for the full version b/c I can't change the current free app to a paid one.I don't mind this, but,is there any way I can transfer the thousands of feedback and ratings I have accumulated so far to the paid version even though it will have a totally new signature?

Gmail, igoogle, voice, etc. I did some poking around, but it seems no one has ever asked about any way of transferring paid apps from one google account to another. Is this possible, or am I now $20+ in the hole on apps I can no longer use on top of everything else that has happened? For some reason, google flags things that the built-in search can't catch. View 10 Replies View RelatedThere's another warez site ripping off the paid versions of my apps from the Google Market(as well as other developers paid apps) - all the usual ignoring stuff when contacting to remove apps. I have to accept that some of my apps get pirated(that haven't used the licensing service & proguard), but What particularly gets my goat about this site, is that the owner is apparently *charging* for full access to the ripped off apps! I did a factory reset because the option to clear data option under Settings - Applications - Manage Applications - Google Apps - Clear Data was not there (I have Sense UI 2.1, don't know if that was the culprit). My question is, is there a way to reinstall my paid apps, without buying them again, since my phone now associates my new gmail address with the market and Google Checkout? Or is there a way for the market to use my old gmail address so i can reinstall these paid apps without paying for them again, and then use the new address? I backed up all my apps with Astro, but for some reason bTunes didn't get back up.

A couple of weeks ago my friend sent me an IM he had paid for but he refuses to tell me how to do it. This was something i had no idea you can do but i guess i was wrong.

A few months ago I decided to buy a paid app in the Market and couldn't do so using my Google Apps account. Reluctantly, I added my Google Account as a secondary account on my phone, which allowed me to purchase apps in the Market. Now that I can finally use Google Checkout with my Google Apps account, I would like to remove my Google Account from my phone, since I'm tired of being prompted to select an account each time I create a new contact. Will removing my secondary account affect apps that are already installed? What about when updates become available for these apps in the Market?

View 7 Replies View RelatedOK, here is my dislike about this phone. I switched to the Evo cause my DH was obsessed with getting one. I had a Blackberry for the last 2 years and one of the things I liked about the phone was ie: If I was on a call and needed to get a phone number for someone, I could put the phone on speaker, switch applications and access my address book, find the number and then go back to the phone screen. It also worked with any other application I wanted to view while on the phone. It seems that the Evo is not capable of this function.
Not sure if this was the right thread to post on but figured I'd try it. The other down side to the Evo is not having the cut and paste function. Or, is it that I just don't know how to do this yet.
Can anybody show me how to switch to another Android application programmatically or request focus on a specific application? My situation is that, I have an Activity, and in that activity, I start other UI application by "am" command. When the program runs, it float to top screen, but it don't have focus. I need to focus to that application's screen programmatically for doing some automatic action. How can I do this?

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy gmail account got hacked. Someone managed to break in, change my password, and send emails to all my contacts. I have created a new gmail account because I can not access the old one through any password recovery methods available through google. After changing passwords and emails on over 20 accounts, I am at my wit's end. I had to export over 400 contacts from my phone, load them up on PC, then cut out just under 300 (where the hell did all those come from?!) to get to my normal >100. I am now left with the following dilemmas: I have a new email address set up on my phone which works right now, but my gcal is stuck on the old address which will obviously not log in. Phone (Droid, 2.1 stock) is telling me I need to do a factory data reset to get the old account off. Is there any way around this? Also, I have several paid apps. With my original gmail account compromised, and I presume not recoverable, do I just lose all those purchases? I am also having trouble loading my ical backup file (the only way I can get my calendar events) into my new gmail account. The import screen just sits there, doing nothing. I tried searching the forum and net for answers, but I found nothing and have exhausted my mental capacity for this for right now.

This works to an extent but does not show all apps I have running? For instance I emailed my selt the link to the extended manual from Motorola.

I click on that link and it downloads the pdf then opens QuickDocs to read it. But if I want to go back to the Home screen for something I can't get back to the Quick Docs app to continue reading from where I left off? I have to go thru the whole process over again and then it tries to download the manual again, so I cancel it and click on the previous one downloaded listed above the download. Then it opens QuickDocs again , but I then have to scroll thru all the pages I read to get to the page I left off at. What gives? It is time consuming and annoying!
Just two quick questions: When connected to wifi, do internet connections made on the device automatically go via wifi as opposed to 3g etc and if not then is there a way to organize which wireless connection 'methods' have higher priority (i am worried about excessive data costs). Second question is: Is there any multi tasking support on the Magic and if so then how do you switch between applications?

I can accept PayPal money transfers, but I don't know how to distribute APK package without exposing it to getting pirated. Did someone tried it already and succeeded? you may be surprised, paid apps are supported only in 12 countries worldwide.

But when I get paid apps, i get an e-mail thanking me for the purchase, but when I try to download, all i get is "authorizing purchase", it never downloads. I bought Shazam but it never downloaded, it's been a week now, and I went to places where I got 4G, I tried the Wi-fi, but nothing worked. I thought it was Shazam, so I bought a different, app like Shazam called SoundHound, but it still does the same problem. Is this a problem with my phone? should I go back to sprint and ask them about it? what's the best solution for this?

Well, I thought when I got my new phone I would be able to redownload all the apps I had purchased but I cant. The Market wants me to pay for them all again. I guess the market tracks you specifially with your phone, not your account. So I called Verizon, of course they were no help. The chick didn't even try to help, I asked her if I could get those apps back and she stalled for a second like she really didnt know but also didnt want to take the time to find out, then she said NOPE. I was like man, that sucks, she said YEP! That was the end of the conversation. Surely there is a way for me to get these apps back without paying for them again? I know they are inexpensive but when you have 10 or so they start to add up! Not to mention I had my first phone for less than a month and hardly got to enjoy the apps I purchased. I've thought about emailing the dev's but dont know if thats a good approach or not.
