View 2 RepliesI have a server that uses User Agent header to identify the device that is connecting to it. But when i connect to the server using HttpURLConnection i get no User Agent header, but when i connect with the browser it sends the correct User Agent.
For testing i am using an echo server that replies with the headers it found on the request.
When i connect with browser i get: eg: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.5; en-fr; HTC Hero Build/CUPCAKE) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1 Up.Link/6.3.1.20.06.3.1.20.0.
But when i connect by code with UrlConnection i get: User-Agent: UNAVAILABLE.
Does anyone know we i get different behaviors? How i can i connect in the same way the browser does?
What i really need is not only the User-Agent header, i also need some special headers (x-up-subno actually). This header is added by the APN of the operator, but for some reason when i connect by code that headers are not added to the request.

I have my G1 connected to a FM transmitter in my car with my bluetooth headset connected. Music has no problem going out the G1. A call comes in and I connect it. After I disconnect the call, the sound does not go out the adapter on the G1, but out the phone's speaker. Is there any setting to make sure the sound goes out the bottom adapter and not the phone's speaker?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have so far found two bugs in Galaxo 1.6.3:
a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!
This is an issue that has kept me from doing real work for *a while* now:
The Task: Read an image from the net (PNG approx. 10kb) and writeit to the user dir as is.
I'm using a byte array to temporarely store the data, basically like this:
CODE:..............
The Problem: it works - sometimes. Actually it always works in the emulator, and it usually works when attaching the debugger to the phone and stepping through the code. Interestingly it almost always produces corrupt images when running in 'normal mode' - read on the Dev1 via UMTS.
Corrupt images are good at the start of the image, and somewhere in the middle or to the end, they produce pixel trash. They can't be decoded to a Bitmap or alike as well.
I'm almost sure it's a HttpURLConnection issue, or at least related to it.
BTW. the download happens in it's own object instance, but about 10 are triggered in a loop after each other.
On my HTC EVO Wavesecure works well normally, but if you turn the phone all the way off, it can not be located, or locked or anything else. I haven't rooted my phone and I believe that there may be no solution to this problem. Any info at all on this would be appreciated. I also posted this under HTC EVO and hope that the redundancy is not a violation (I just joined the forum today).

The usb not working is and old problem, tried to shift it out with ha new part, but that didn`t work.
Anyway, a day ago I noticed that my phone is no longer rooted, my guess is that this might have happened during an update? Is there a way I can reroot it without using USB?
I can use fastboot mode, it stands "lock state - unlocked" Is there any hope for me rerooting my phone?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to determine whether or not my phone is defective, or if this is a current problem with the Cliq.
Of the apps I've downloaded, only a few of them have worked. Of those few that work, some don't work right. Has anyone had problems with these apps crashing on them, or just not working correctly?
- Nice Battery (see description at bottom of: My Ultimate CLIQ settings (so far))
- WeatherBug (kept showing the wrong location, crashed when trying to change location)
- Snake - doesn't work just says its "paused"
- RingDroid - crashes when I select the "Facebook Pop" button
- Layar - screen is rotated 90 degrees at all times
There have been others, but usually I just uninstall them right after discovering it doesn't work right.
I've had an HTC Desire on Orange in the UK for about 6 weeks and it is having persistent problem. Firstly despite having a strong 4-bar out of 4 signal, online services and the internet do not work at all when a 3G signal is being received (e.g. news, weather, all widgets, internet, email etc).Calls and texts do work however with a 3G signal. But when a 3g+ signal (HSDPA) is being received, all internet services as above work fine. However, when a 3+ signal is being received, the phone does not make or receive calls or text messages, and often fails to send texts. Calls I make immediately shut down (bleep + call ended), and incoming calls from other people go straight to answerphone. Also often when turning the data connection on/off, it freezes and has to be rebooted, and turning airplane setting on and off does not fix the problem.
I have also tried the different network settings (GSM, WCDMA, auto, etc). GSM sends and receives calls and texts but doesnt work (or is incredibly slow) with internet, and auto and WCDMA only show the problems as above.I don't think this is a network/coverage issues as, as I have seen many people reporting these same issues on other networks and in other parts of the UK, and I have read that other people are having to manually turn off HSDPA to be able to make calls (using an app?). Even if I can stop HSDPA from connecting to make sure the phone works, I still cant use the internet at all on 3g even GSM works better!
Finally, when I connect to a bluetooth device (e.g. car and headphones) the phone will connect briefly, and then randomly disconnect. I have also seen this issue reported elsewhere.I very much like the phone and don't want to get rid of it, but these problems are making the phone unuseable. Also I don't know if I should be contacting HTC or Orange about this. Will the upcoming Android 2.2 fix these problems?Anyone know how to fix this or if I need a new handset? Are there any apps that can help? Also does the Nexus One have these problems and are they fixed by Froyo?
So I made a discovery - my dialpad doesn't work during a call. Even if I bring it up via the softkeys, the numbers don't register a tap...anyone. else have this issue or is it just my phone?
View 49 Replies View RelatedNot sure whether it happens to any other user of x10 or not. I bought the x10 last week and found out there's a huge battery life problem. Thus I called SE customer service and they suggested me to do the update via SE website. I downloaded the update and followed the instruction. Unplug the battery for at least 5 sec and put it back, then put plug in the USB cable to my laptop and connect it to the x10. But then it popped a msg ' cannot identify your phone, please disconnect and try again'. I tried it for 7 times and it still has the same message.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am beating my head against a wall trying to figure out why I cannot get Authenticated on my server whilst using HttpUrlConnection. I need to post a file in a post method and it seems I cannot do so with the DefaultHttpClient and a regular HttpPost (unless I am completely missing something?). I can get DefaultHttpClient to authenticate just fine using setCredentials() but the same doesn't exist for HttpUrlConnection so I try to set through setRequestProperty: conn.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + Base64EncodedUserNamePassword); to no avail.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got an application which is making a web request every 10s using HttpURLConnection. When the application starts in 3G, it works great. Then I activate Wifi and after that, all my requests fail during exactly 10 minutes with the fallowing exception : Socket is not connected. The behavior is the same if I start in Wifi and then I switch to 3G. What's the problem here ? Do we need to setup something at socket level ? a timeout (10 minutes is the default one) ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using HttpURLConnection to send a GET request to a server. Upon reading the response code, the Android implementation of HttpURLConnection.doRequestInternal() throws an exception:
"java.io.IOException: Received authentication challenge is null"
I don't even get what the error is trying to tell me. I write an OAuth param string to the Authorization header, but this works fine on other occasions. There is nothing peculiar about my request apart from that.
Any idea what this means, what is causing this and how to get around it? This works fine with Sun's Java implementation, so I guess it's a problem with Apache Harmony?
