So I'm using my Samsung Vibrant and I downloaded Handcent and every time I get an SMS and check it, I noticed that I still have a notification saying i have an unread text, even though i have clearly read the text. Is anyone else getting the same problem as well? I tested it on another Vibrant and same problem.

I have a few gmail accounts on my Droid and that work fine, but my msn email that I added has a problem. If I get messages and don't open them, then 15 minutes later I get a notification of new mail, but when I check there's nothing new. So then I tried marking messages read to prevent this but some of the messages revert to unread on their own then renotify me as if I have new messages. So I either have to open them or delete them to stop getting false notifications.
Anyone else have this issue, any settings I can change that will fix this? Nobody has access to this email account except me so I know it's not a matter of someone marking unread from the desktop.
I sent a mass text out today. people started responding. But I am left with 1 notification for an unread text. Well, I have read that text, but it won't clear. I deleted the specific text, it won't clear the 1 in my status bar. When I pull my status bar dropdown menu, it shows the text, so I click on it and handcent force closes. I deleted the entire thread from the person, still didn't clear. Powered down, still didn't clear. DELETED handcent and reinstalled, still didn't clear.

At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.
I'm a huge txting kinda gal. And REALLY miss the little box notifying me that my friends have received, or read the text. Is there a setting for the Sense Basic txting to show that? I couldn't seem to find one? Or does anyone know a good app (BESIDES ChompSMS) that would do this?

I hate when someone responds with something short enough that I can read it right from the bar. Then the only way that it will not show up as a new message on the message icon or be bold in the list, I have to click on it, open the message app, and then back out of it. Not that big of a PITA just kind of annoying when I already know the full message.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've searched all over and cannot find a way to mark Read SMS text messages as Unread. I get lots of texts and sometimes don't want to address specific ones until later. On my BB and other phones, I could mark as Unread, so it would stand out later when I could deal with them. There doesn't seem to be an option in the initial menus for texts.

One of my biggest peeves is that I can read, or mark as read, a message and then a few hours later it shows as unread again. I have 4 inboxes and this can really get confusing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still won't work properly.

In my case they remain "unread" until I go through message. Is this normal? If it is, is there any way around this? If it's not normal, how do I go about making sure it syncs?

On my blackberry, when an email was pushed, I would read it, but it wouldn't be marked as read in my inbox itself. I liked that because then I would know I had to address the email when I was next at a computer. I don't always have time to send a reply from my phone right when I get an email, but I like being able to look at it on my phone without it getting marked as "read" everywhere.
Is my only option to add a gmail account via POP3 instead of IMAP? I tried that and didn't like it because then none of my gmail filters work, and messages that would normally just be archived end up getting forwarded via POP. I dealt with that on the BB by setting up filters on the BIS side, but I can't do that here if I just tell the droid to just fetch all the email via POP as it comes in. Is there any way to keep the filters in place but not have read status synced?
I have synced my desire with yahoo mail.The phone doesnt duplicate deletions from yahoo to phone or phone to yahoo so have to delete everything twice (Windows mobile does it.)Also when the phone goes and gets the mail from yahoo it marks them as read on the internet and unread on the phone. WM synched the read status - did not mark the yahoo mail as read when downloaded and the read status was synced from the phone to yahoo or yahoo to the phone depending on which was read first.Presume i need to download someone's app.

I have a client who has moved from a Blackberry to a Droid 2 (thank god I hate those damn Blackberry's) and he used to receive these "reminder notifications" when he didn't open his emails or texts right away. I searched the app store up and down from my Incredible but could not find anything.

Twitroid has the same icon. Any idea how it's done? I don't think (or so I hope) there are 10000 similar icons. Is this red circle generated and overlaid the notification icon?

I'm running xtr 4.0.6.1 with LP Pro. Really like the setup and especially the dock at the bottom from LP. I have Phone, Mail, App Drawer, SMS, and GMail on my dock. I spend 80% of my time there in the Mail app as my Eris is primarily a work device for me, and my company uses Exchange. My issue is this, under Menu > Preferences, there are settings to turn on notification for Unread Gmail, Unread SMS, and Missed Calls. These notifications are down on the dock, not in the top notification bar. It's nice to have those three, but what I really need is the notification for Unread Mail (like the Sense icon has). I've been bouncing around the Launcher Pro website and came across somebody asking for exactly the same thing. In post #5 a user talks about using SDK to code it in manually via adb, and he's even provided the code. However, I get a java.io.IOException. This is not a "resource not found" exception, so the resource is opened correctly, but the readLine() produces the error.
I tried using the InputStream itself, with the result that read() produces -1, which stands for EOF, as if the file was empty.
I have a text file added as a raw resource. The text file contains text like:

Haven't found a single app that could do it in Russian. There a very good russia tts engine by SVOX, but almost no andoid apps that would support tts.
