View 1 RepliesI suspect many of you are like me and monkey with your phones so damned much that sometimes it's hard to pinpoint what changes we've made to which changes we've noticed. I've been running UD 9.0 ever since it came out. I've had great battery life with SetCPU profiles set from 250MHz to 1Ghz unless the battery goes below 30%, in which case it goes down to a max of 550MHz with a low still at 250MHz. The only thing I've changed recently is downloads of app updates, (...including SetCPU, btw). The other day my home WiFi crapped out, so I used a tether app and played around online with my laptop using my phone. I had never done it for so long before, but inside of about three hours, my battery was at 20%, when usually at that time of day, it's at hour 13 from last charge, and at about 40%. Now my battery is not lasting a whole 14 hours, where it used to go from 5 AM to 10 PM before it gave me the "15% juice left" heads up. I don't know if it's because of a bad SetCPU update, or a wifi tether app problem, or what.
View 36 Replies View RelatedI updated my phone to the new firmware version. Followed all steps including backing up all my phone entries (logs/messages/contacts etc...) and went through the update with flying colors. The new update is amazing but for some reason after recovering all of my (previously saved) things, I found out I'm missing more than half of my contacts!
Anyone know what's going on? I can find my whole phone book through my text messaging application when searching for a name but if I go into my actual phone book I have like the last 6 entries that I added only... I've tried importing from sim/sd card nothing works...
I have created a Black and Pink Glass theme for Go launcher that installs and loads fine. When I upload the theme to the android market and then its downloaded from the market and installed it installs as a .zip file instead of an .apk file. I have several other themes that are working fine. I have tried rebuilding it from scratch and the issue is still there. I have attached the android manifest.xml for reference.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, there is literally no way that I'm the only one who has asked this question but I can't find the answer by searching. Here's my problem, after I flash my rom and restart my phone the market begins auto-downloading all the apps I previously had installed. I do not want this bc I use titanium backup for all of that.
I know I can avoid it temporarily if I skip entering my email address, but there has to be a setting for me to un check that will make it not try to auto download anything once I do add my account.
I'm sure you guys have all run into this by now, so can someone please tell me what setting will resolve this issue?
I'm trying to create a drawable in xml, a rectangle with one gradient on the top half, and another on the bottom half.
This is NOT the way to do it, apparently:
CODE:................
How can I do this, preferably in a way that makes it stretchable to any height?
Searching around I've found loads of people have the same issue. Suddenly you'll loose access to gmail (unable to load, retry?), market place and sync just shows errors. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FACTORY RESET. Now I've found you can resolve easily by deleting the com.android.providers.settings older entirely via root, then rebooting. at shell type: rm -r /data/data/com.android.providers.settings. THEN REBOOT. You'll loose some settings, ringtones, notifications, screen brightness, but these are easily reset. If when you sync you get a ! you may also have to, or like to, clear the data under settings>apps> for gmail, gmailstorage, contacts, contactstorage, calender, calendarstorage - DO A SYNC FIRST AND CHECK IN YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT ON A PC AS YOU'LL LOOSE ANYTHING NOT SYNC'D. But why do so many devices suddenly bork requiring this? Does anyone know?

Anyone else having an issue with the android market? I can download and update free apps with no problem, but I suddenly can't download paid apps. (And no my credit card did not get declined ).
I successfully purchase the app, I got the e-mail that the purchase went through, then it hangs at "authorizing purchase". Specifically, I'm having this issue right now with Vignette.
I used my Hero this morning/afternoon with music, wi-fi, internet browsing, and I used up the first half of the battery. And after that, I have been mostly studying and not using my phone... but the second half of the batter drains, it seems like, FASTER than the first half did! No music playing, no wi-fi, no internet browsing? Is this normal? Is it just the nature of these batteries?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been rooted with Droid Mod forever and have never had any issues or never tried other roms it worked so I've stayed with it. Anyway I was screwing around trying to fix a problem and did a nandroid back up and and restore ( i'm clueless) Did not wipe info (that scares me) and I reflashed the rom a couple times because I kept selecting or deselecting the wrong things. Finally got everything perfect. The phone seemed to like the mini overhaul. But when I rebooted the market apk is gone. No where to be found. All my apps are there but no icon for market. Its just gone. Can I get that, download it desktop, mount, and drag to phone somewhere?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had the market app on my home screen for a while, then decided I didn't need it there. So I dragged it to the trash. But, when I went to use it again from the "all apps" area it was gone. I can't find it anywhere, how do I get it back?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my 2.2 today with the video up in the sticky.
I am using the Amron_RA recovery.
I didn't do anything else but what the video's told me to do.
Now when I try to go into the android market, it tries to load for a while then tell me there is a network error. I synced all my contacts and can make calls and use internet. Just not the market.
It's working now. I'm not sure why. I've been sitting on this for over an hour waiting and rebooting. I didn't want to jump the gun and post and then have to say "hey, it works now" but it works now.
Is anyone else having problems with the Market after installing or updating an app? Twice now it has FCed after I updated an app. And worse, the second time, when I went back to the Market to review my downloaded apps, it only lists Gmail and Photobucket. None of the other 15 or so apps I've downloaded are listed!

I think I saw this happened to someone else here, but I can't find it.
why is it when i hit the volume rocker on the side, it only goes half way? i mean, its still loud as hell, but still. Even the Alarm volume only goes half way.

View 23 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to share this in case others experience it...I've never seen this happen before on other ROMs (currently on BB Froyo v.2). No idea if it's the fault of the ROM, or some other quirk...this happened a full day after I had installed BB v.2 over my previous install of BB v.1.
I went into the Market/Downloads view a little while ago and found that none of my free installed apps were listed, just the paid ones. All the apps were still installed on my system, but all the market links apparently had been lost. I hadn't done anything today to change my setup or configuration, but for some reason my installed free apps had disappeared. I entered and exited the market a few times, nothing changed.
Went to Titanium and did a quick backup, just to make sure that I had all my apps. Then I tried to use Titanium's market fix feature, but it said there were no market links to fix. Remembering some advice in Titanium Backup that says when restored market links aren't showing up after a restore (which I hadn't done), if you simply download and install one app from the Market it will refresh the links...I did so, and all my free installed apps showed up again in the Market/Download screen.
I still have some apps and my phone and wifi seem to be working fine.I don't have Market, Rom Manager, Titanium (but I DO have SuperUser). When I USB my phone to PC - the PC doesn't see either the phone pr the card although I haven't reinstalled HTC Sync). At this point, I don't really even know if I'm rooted or have busybox.I'm really puzzled as to what I should do next:I don't know whether to do a phone restore from Settings or, perhaps from Recovery? Or whether to find a RUU (Is there one with the updated radio or with Froyo? Or, I guess I could wait for the OTA - but that's a wimped out way out and it might not even work at this point. Or, do I want to try reinstalling Rom Manager and do the permission fix - then reflash one of the Froyo Roms. But would that get me Market back? In all cases I'm gonna have to reinstall most of my apps since most resided (at least partially) on the dead sd. Fortunately appbrain has a record of all my apps. - but, from what I understand, there's no way to install the Market, except via HTC/Google/Verizon.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is any way to get notified when applications are installed. I'd like to install my app as a service which just waits to be notified on app installation.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem is, I have a bunch of apps I rarely use but still like to keep around just in case. I use AppMonster now to backup certain apps like this, but is there a way to let's say, add shortcuts to uninstalled apps to the homescreen, and when you click them it installs them, and uninstalls them again once the app closes?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've heard some very good things about the Nook for Android app. I have Nook for PC installed on my desktop, but I can't access the Nook app in the market to install it on my phone. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen testing my app on a device I go through several "installs", although it's really the Eclipse plugin doing this for me.After a while (not very long) the device starts complaining about insufficient storage. It seems that progressive "re-installs" eats away the phone storage even though the app being installed (presumably) is either removed by Eclipse first or at least overwritten.Interestingly if I use a task killer to kill everything on the phone (which I only use for dev purposes btw),the available storage indicator recovers and I can keep working. As I said, it's more annoying than anything as the workaround.well works, but I'm wondering if there is some sort of cache chewing up storage?More importantly, I'm a little concerned that the same may happen with updates from the Market? That is, the update effectively replacing the current version of the app but leaving an allocation of storage behind in its wake.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHave anyone notice yesterday anything strange in the downloads/active install data from your apps? My app lost more than 100 downloads(which should be impossible) from which most of them were active installs, so now my apps is 15 places down and my percentage of active installs badly affected. Has anyone else been affected?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought an android 2.3.6 phone which no one has tried to root( it seems). So I was wondering if I could root it by creating an update.zip file containing the su binary and the superuser apk and then installing it in the recovery mode. Will this work? I have failed with gingerbreak, unlockroot and z4root.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a little concerned about the issue. I know for a fact that my application is doing very well from analytic. But the active installs are dropping daily by a lot! While my total downloads are growing steadily as they always have! I'm worried cause I know that active installs affect an applications popularity and mine is going to be dumped all the way to the bottom if this continues. So what's causing this issue? Two theories: 1. I recently allowed to install to SD card. 2. Android Market is broken? Anyone seeing this issues? -Moto
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor at least 5 days now the number of downloads and active installs have remained the same, surprisingly since it was changing day by day. I still see through my server that new people are registering, so definitely the counters are broken or the numbers dont get refreshed. Has anyone had a similar problem?
