View 2 RepliesI am currently using a G1 and i want to upgrade. in short i really see that i have two options. 1. Buy a mytouch slide off the streets or internet for probably around $250-300. 2. Make the big switch over to Verizon and pick up a droid 2 for about $200 + sign up fee's. I want a new style android phone with a full keyboard and i dont have any upgrades on my t-mobile plan (I'm also not in-contract). what would you do?

View 6 Replies View RelatedVillain has released (yet another) new ROM, a port from the MyTouch Slide phone. I've never heard of it my self but I think I'll have to give it a try; why else would god have invented the nandroid backup?
View 13 Replies View RelatedUntil now, have been using Android SDKs Emulator with the Eclipse plug-in, but recently replaced my non-Android phone to T-Mobile's MyTouch 3G Slide. Today, tried to install the Windows Android USB Driver for the phone. Followed instructions in http://d.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html (USB Driver for Windows Android Developers).
When looking for the driver, Windows gave me a "Could Not Find Driver Software" message. When telling Windows where to search, I pointed it to the SDK directory where the driver resides (¦Android-SDK-windows/ usb_driver). Also tried ¦Android-SDK-windows. Specified use sub- folders" in both tries. I am using Vista 64 bit, and suspect that may be the cause.
The "could not find.." message box from Windows has this information under Details:
Problem Event Name: PnPDriverNotFound Architecture: x64 Hardware Id: USBVID_0BB4&PID_0E03&REV_0100&MI_01 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033
In Windows Device Manager, "Other Devices ==>ADB==> Properties" shows Device type: Other Devices Manufacturer: Unknown Location: 0000.001d.0007.002.000.000.000.000.000 Device Status: This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element
In the sdk's "usb_driver" directory, the "android_winusb.inf" file has several VID's beginning with 0BB..., but does not have one for the one listed above. Nor is there a [ ... ]header entry for the MyTouch 3G Slide (Expresso?)
I suspect this is the reason for the "Driver not found"
Am using the 32 bit version of "Eclipse IDE for Java Developers" downloaded last April. (At that time there were a lot of forum warnings about not using the 64 bit version.)
Today, before trying to install the driver, I uninstalled the Android plug-in from Eclipse and then uninstalled the Android SDK I had installed in April which was at the 2.1 level. I reinstalled the SDK at the 2.2 level taking "all items". Then reinstalled the Eclipse plug- in.
In the "Android SDK and AVD Manager" checked for any updates. There were none (I'd just re-installed, so that makes sense)
Information in this thread looked like a solution:
[url]
When I tried that, got the same message box.
These two threads from 2009 have entries that say the 64 bit driver is in the SDK I cant find it. Could be looking the wrong place though.

[url]
The android_winusb.inf has these two .CAT entries in it CatalogFile.NTx86 = androidwinusb86.cat CatalogFile.NTamd64 = androidwinusba64.cat
Using the information from the above ¦5512 thread, I added these lines to the [Google.NTx86] group immediately following the ";Google NexusOne" information and before the [Google.NTamd64] entry
CODE:.................................
When that did not make any difference, added: %SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0FFF which was also part of a post. Made no difference
The .INF has a [ClassInstall32], entry, but there is no [ClassInstall64] entry. I do not know enough about INFs to know if that is needed or not.
Am i able to change the lock screen from an up and down slide to a side slide?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn case anyone else is having problems getting their Incredible to connect, the easiest way I found to install the USB drivers are with the HTC sync program here:
http://member.america.htc.com/download/Driver/DROID_INCREDIBLE_Verizon/HTC_Sync_2.0.33.exe
The google SDK driver doesn't yet work with the Incredible, and though it can be hacked - this download might be easier for some.
My friend with a mytouch has a different IM app that I have. His offers AIM and yahoo How do I get that one on my G1? I have google talk, but want the other app too. I couldnt' find it in the market.

View 2 Replies View RelatedReducing Lag Due to Location Based Services (Tested with myTouch)Only use GPS or Network Based Location services but don't have both enabled at the same time.I purchased the myTouch on 08/20/09 running Firmware 1.5 (Cupcake), Build Number COC10. I am also using the 4GB card that came with the phone.I found that Sherpa and Google maps tended be less than accurate and lagged significantly despite being in Downtown Seattle with 2 - 4 bars of service depending on building density.I also had Pedometer running (a free app from the Market). Sherpa was exteremely laggy to the point of being useless in both Carsel Mode as well as Map Mode. I didn't use Satillite nor Street View in any of my testing.
When I killed Pedometer, I found Sherpa seemed to improve a bit, but still, it was very clumsy to use due to lag. I then looked at "Security and Locations" services and saw both "Use wireless netowrks" and "GPS" enabled. I first disabled "Use wireless netowrks" and saw an immediate improvement in Sherpa. I reenabeld the Pedometer and still got a good response from Sherpa and Google Maps including reduced lag and more precise location. I then disabled GPS (and told the applications to cancel when asked to enable) and enabeld Network based services. Sherpa, Google Maps and Pedometer all responded well, location services improved in accuracy and little lag.
Can the mytouch 1.2 be rooted?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll right - I admit my defeat. Can anyone walk me trough successfully debugging with MyTouch? Here's what I tried: 1. Plugged in the phone - my XP Prfessional never asked me for anything - just simply told me that "Hardware is ready to use" 2. In the phone - mounted USB - no problem accessing phone's SD which is mounted as a drive 3. Disconnected phone and in developer setting enabled Settings- >Applications->Development->USB debugging.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a like new mytouch 3g on craigslist and it has some weird things going on with it. I turned it on and it says Vodafone on the splash screen instead of mytouch 3g and then it goes to a screen that says HTC magic instead of the Android screen (i had one before so i know that is wrong). It is also only on Cupcake 1.5 and all the preloaded wallpapers and some of the apps are not what come on the tmobile one normally. The weird thing is is that it is FOR SURE a U.S. tmobile phone. Ive looked up all the info on the fastboot menu and it works and my 3g works. I googled this problem and 1 other person that i found had this too. They thought someone might have halfway rooted and not done it all the way (mine is definitely not rooted). I just want to get back the original tmobile os or firmware or whatever so i can update to 1.6 through them normally.

I bought a mytouch yesterday off craigslist, the kid said he had someone root it for him on 2.2 Before he gave it to me, he did a factory data reset to erase all his contacts, messages, info, etc. He gave it back to me and I had to set up the phone all over again (make a google account), so when I had that setup, I went to look up the phone info and saw that the firmware version was now 1.6. Could this have caused it to unroot?
