I am just wondering how many apps can be put on a device such as the mytouch, if any1 can give an est. that would b helpful... I am wondering because i am thinking about getting a cliq but am confused because the more reviews i read it says download a taskmanager and other things... I like the openness of this platform, but don't want to brick a future phone

My friend with a mytouch has a different IM app that I have. His offers AIM and yahoo How do I get that one on my G1? I have google talk, but want the other app too. I couldnt' find it in the market.

View 2 Replies View RelatedReducing Lag Due to Location Based Services (Tested with myTouch)Only use GPS or Network Based Location services but don't have both enabled at the same time.I purchased the myTouch on 08/20/09 running Firmware 1.5 (Cupcake), Build Number COC10. I am also using the 4GB card that came with the phone.I found that Sherpa and Google maps tended be less than accurate and lagged significantly despite being in Downtown Seattle with 2 - 4 bars of service depending on building density.I also had Pedometer running (a free app from the Market). Sherpa was exteremely laggy to the point of being useless in both Carsel Mode as well as Map Mode. I didn't use Satillite nor Street View in any of my testing.
When I killed Pedometer, I found Sherpa seemed to improve a bit, but still, it was very clumsy to use due to lag. I then looked at "Security and Locations" services and saw both "Use wireless netowrks" and "GPS" enabled. I first disabled "Use wireless netowrks" and saw an immediate improvement in Sherpa. I reenabeld the Pedometer and still got a good response from Sherpa and Google Maps including reduced lag and more precise location. I then disabled GPS (and told the applications to cancel when asked to enable) and enabeld Network based services. Sherpa, Google Maps and Pedometer all responded well, location services improved in accuracy and little lag.
Can the mytouch 1.2 be rooted?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAll right - I admit my defeat. Can anyone walk me trough successfully debugging with MyTouch? Here's what I tried: 1. Plugged in the phone - my XP Prfessional never asked me for anything - just simply told me that "Hardware is ready to use" 2. In the phone - mounted USB - no problem accessing phone's SD which is mounted as a drive 3. Disconnected phone and in developer setting enabled Settings- >Applications->Development->USB debugging.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a like new mytouch 3g on craigslist and it has some weird things going on with it. I turned it on and it says Vodafone on the splash screen instead of mytouch 3g and then it goes to a screen that says HTC magic instead of the Android screen (i had one before so i know that is wrong). It is also only on Cupcake 1.5 and all the preloaded wallpapers and some of the apps are not what come on the tmobile one normally. The weird thing is is that it is FOR SURE a U.S. tmobile phone. Ive looked up all the info on the fastboot menu and it works and my 3g works. I googled this problem and 1 other person that i found had this too. They thought someone might have halfway rooted and not done it all the way (mine is definitely not rooted). I just want to get back the original tmobile os or firmware or whatever so i can update to 1.6 through them normally.

Buy a mytouch slide off the streets or internet for probably around $250-300. 2. Make the big switch over to Verizon and pick up a droid 2 for about $200 + sign up fee's. I bought a mytouch yesterday off craigslist, the kid said he had someone root it for him on 2.2 Before he gave it to me, he did a factory data reset to erase all his contacts, messages, info, etc. He gave it back to me and I had to set up the phone all over again (make a google account), so when I had that setup, I went to look up the phone info and saw that the firmware version was now 1.6. Could this have caused it to unroot?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got an HTC Desire & downloaded a few apps/widgets from the market today. They seem to have downloaded ok and I can see them sitting in the 'downloads' tab of the market...but how do I actually get them from here onto my device to use them?
(Things I've tried...clicking on them in 'downloads' just shows more info on them and clicking install just re-downloads them, longholding just brings up info about them, I can't find a 'downloads' folder on my mobile, they aren't appearing with the other widgets or programs, adding the market on my mobile just links me back to the market homepage...i cant see anything in the user manual or learn more sections that is of help on this - they both say to go to all programs and my downloads but I don't have a my downloads just downloads section in the market which doesn't seem to move them to my device?).

I'm trying to install my app to test it on a real device - my own Nexus one. after downloading and installing the USB driver - the devices charges just fine. after I mount the USB storage (from the device) I can even see the phone's file system from the computer (thus able to move files in and out of the SD card). however - "adb devices" command returns an empty list. also, Eclipse "Device Chooser" doesn't show the device (it shows emulators I previously configured).

View 22 Replies View RelatedI had to do a factory reset of my X after the 2.2 update. I am now not able to install the paid apps I got from the market. I have receipts on Google Checkout for them, but when I go to the market to get them, it only gives me the option to "Buy" it again as it takes me right to Google checkout. If I go to "Options" and then "My Downloads", the apps are not located there. Anyone else have this happen to them? How do I fix this without having to buy the apps again?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about an Android app (with possibly an accompanying physical device), and i'm trying to figure out whether this is something that's feasible.
1) Let's say I plug my Android to my PC. Would it be possible for an app installed on the PC to communicate with an app running in the cell phone? I just need a very simplistic data exchange, it can even be one-way (just data pushed from the cell phone to the listening app on the PC, whenever the cell phone wants, I don't need any data sent from PC to phone).
When I plug it in, the phone gives me 4 options (charge, disk drive, HTC sync, tethering), which makes me think this is not doable, but still worth the shot.
2) Would it be possible for an app on the PC to talk to an app on the phone through any other way? (Wi-fi, bluetooth, etc). I'm guessing no on wi-fi since neither party has the other's IP (and I want this to kinda just work, not having to input IPs manually all the time).
3) If I make a device that's plugged to the little USB port at the bottom of the phone (and let's say this is a magical device that can do anything, I don't quite care about those details as long as it's doable). Can I have an Android app talk to that device?
4) Any other ideas to make the phone talk to a "device" that I make, or to an app in the PC are more than welcome. Going "through the web" could be an option (although there'd have to be a central server that I own as a middle man, I believe). But i'd prefer if the communication was direct between the two devices.
Is there a way to determine what apps are currently installed on an android device? I guess reading /data/app directory doesn't do the trick (access denied).

I have tried it on my Phone, tablets, on my brothers phone, it just wont connect. However, when I connected my phone with the network of my University, I worked the first time but the second time, same no connection problem.
