View 2 RepliesIs it possible to modify the permission of the files in the data/data/yourpack/filename ? i have manage to solve the downloading of the file to the data/data/yourpack/filename. now whenever i run my programme the downloaded copy of the file is being overwritten by the new copy which i suspect is due to its permissiion... anyway the downloaded copy permission is -rw------- while the new copy is -wr-wr-----
View 2 Replies View RelatedI plan to develop Android application which will encrypt/decrypt voice data such that parties can communicate using secure channel. So the question is: how to intercept voice/audio data during GSM call? Is it possible or not? Should I use Android NDK or something else?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to wrap my head around this and it's probably an obvious answer but why can't I dial out using my GV number unless I have a data connection active? Per Google and from what I can see, no VoIP is being used and it seems to me when I have a data connection and use GV to dial out it just dials a Google number first. I'd think the call would be made to GV, GV would patch the call through to the person being called and pass on the GV caller ID number. So why does the app need to have a data connection to work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible in android framework to encrypt/decrypt voice data? What I am thinking is when a call comes in, and before user picks it up another local application is activated, it then encrypts and decrypts outgoing/incoming voice data?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI haven't done any work with the Android or iOS platforms, but I have recently been pitched a project and I'm trying to see if it is even feasible.
Is there currently API hooks in the iOS and Android platforms for accessing / manipulating the voice / data streams? What I would like to do is encrypt all outgoing steams and decrypt all incoming streams before they reach and other processes that need that data.
I would assume that because the Android platform is open source one should be able to do this, it just may have to be hacked together. I'm more worried about iOS.
With all this talk about people buying the i7500 from Germany; I was wondering if T-mobile has any rules/detection against us using an android phone bought from outside, on the network using a normal voice+data plan like the $30+$10 plan. Because given the price difference of a 2 yr contract a new phone would in theory need to be over $560 before it is no longer worth buying outside. So what is the incentive of getting a simlocked phone, that costs more, and be locked into a 2 yr contract? I guess this applies to some of the other smartphones as well.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI probably don't need it persay...But! I want it! Just to have the peace of mind that phone calls won't interupt stuff. There have been times that I could both at the same time. Anyone think it might be implementef later? This is a real dream killer for me.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a solution to connect one android phone to another over bluetooth to share voice and maybe data service. What I want to do is use my old Dell Streak as a GPS/media player in my car without having service to it. I would like it to connect to my current phone so I can make call through it, like a headunit with hands free bluetooth calling. I'm not so much worried about data, though it would be a plus but I don't think Android supports connecting to ad-hoc networks. I can't seem to find any app that supports this, and I'm not seeing anywhere on the Android system where this is possible. I haven't owned a car stereo that supports bluetooth calling so I'm not sure what to look for.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLately I have been getting very poor signal strength on my Hero. It went from 3 or 4 bars, down to 1 or 2 at my house, and I constantly drop calls. I live in an area where I am supposed to have excellent signal strength too. Called tech support, they checked the towers, and all is fine. I have my phone set to Sprint only, and whenever I make a call, and end the call, my signal drops to 0, and sometimes even get an x meaning no signal, but either way what bothers me is when I end the call my data, whether it is Ev, or 1x lights up and sends/receive's data for about 5 seconds. After that the signal comes back. Now what in the world does data have to do with voice? Nothing. My phone is stock with no 3rd party apps installed at all.
I have reset to factory too, doesn't help Firmware and PRL are both up to date too.
I have the 45$ voice and data with the 1000 sent message option.. the reason im asking is never got the call display because that is 8 a month.. but i hear there are add on plans for 15 and 25$ that give calldisplay and unlimited text.. now my question is there just a cheap voice plan and a cheap data plan i can get so i can get one of these add ons and keep it around the current 52 bucks?

I have a Tmobile rooted Samsung Galaxy S III, I was running a nightly Cyanogenmod 10 ROM. Yesterday there was an update for that rom and I downloaded it and installed it, everything was fine and running smoothly until some people started telling me that they were not able to reach me by phone. I tried checking what was wrong and I finally realized that whenever I have my mobile data on or while I am using it I don't receive voice calls. I tried looking everywhere for a way to fix this and I came across the ##DATA# code in which I could turn off the DDTM option but unfortunately my phone doesn't recognize that code.
this is the message I get every time I try to enter ##3282# code.
I thought that maybe something was wrong with the ROM itself so i decided to browse around here for one for my Tmobile samsung galaxy S 3 and I decided to install this one [ROM][4.2.2][RC1] LiquidSmooth ROMs - d2tmo - 2|14|13
after wiping data/cache and dalvik cache I installed this ROM and this is my current phone info and still when I am using my mobile data I cant receive calls nor put the ##DATA# code to turn off DDTM.
is there any other way I could access that DDTM option?
Another thing I realized is that even tho I did the factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and data cache on recovery mode my phone still says it only has 4gb free on its internal memory, isn't it supposed to be completely free after wiping all that stuff?
I am trying to understand whether or not Android handles the phone conversation's audio stream or it is done outside Android's framework. Specifically, if, for example, Android controls a cellular processor that provides PCM interface for voice conversation and there is a need to send audio over Bluetooth instead of using mic/speakers, how this is handled? There are two ways here to the best of my understanding:
1. Route PCM from cellular to audio port on Android CPU, then let Android receive the stream and send it to BT stack for processing and eventually pushing to BT hardware over HCI 2. Have Android control a HW switch that will route PCM directly to BT HW using direct PCM interface Which one applies? Is there a preferable way (best usage of resources provided by Android)?
Radio Shack had this phone on sale for $14 cash this weekend, I picked up a couple of them to setup to use for WiFi text/music/YouTube phones for my kids.
I have rooted them and now just want to get rid of the Virgin Mobile automatic profile update that attempts to happen when I power on the phone. If possible, I would like to permanently disable the cellular data/voice modem as well leaving WiFi enabled. What app I should disable/ remove through titanium backup to do this?
I have absolutely no intention of ever activating these phones for traditional cell service. They will strictly be used as WiFi android devices. Basically a cheapo alternative to an iPod.
I have set the phone for airplane mode and then enabled WiFi to prevent them from making calls, this is a reasonable solution but they could turn on the cell radio and start trying to activate, although they wouldn't get far as they don't have a way to provide payment anyway.
Problem is their mother isn't the brightest and when they are away at mom's, I would like to be able to text them and not be on the phone with her troubleshooting them constantly.
I'm heading to Halifax, Nova Scotia for a week and will be bringing my Hero with me. I'll be calling Sprint customer support to see what options are available for voice and data, but I trust the advice of folks in this forum.
Is there any international voice and data plan that i can sign up for so that I don't end up paying sky-high roaming rates? I really don't want to have to keep my phone in airplane mode the whole week. Any advice from travelers to the "Great White North" would really be appreciated, eh?
Here's a question that comes from an unclear view of how things work : can a a phone be data roaming without being voice roaming? If so how can a begin data roaming event can be detected? This question came to me from the DDMS options , where one can have" data roaming " and "home voice".

View 2 Replies View Relatedis it even possible to modify .apk, by adding additional class to .dex and re-packing with modified manifest.xml?I know there are tools such as baksmali / smali to disassemble / re-assemble given classes.dex from .apk, but not sure limitation what could be modified from there on? I'm trying to add additional activity, to modify starting launcher activity (may be from androidmanifest.xml) from original apk, then re-pack and sign to make complete single .apk all need to be done out of build time, no raw source or build structure visible, only .apk as input.

I am coding an Android client that talks to some web services via XML packets.
A typical packet looks like this..
<Packet service="login">
<username></username>
<password></password>
</Packet>
I have about 20 of these packets and would like to store them in my resources maybe in res/xml or res/raw
I want to store these 'empty' packets and load them using XML DOM and then fill in the content between the tags or attributes but am unsure how to do this.
Once the DOM packet has been filled in I want to get that back as a String so that I can send the packet to the server.
So to summarize my questions are..
(1) How do I load an XML resource using DOM?
(2) How do I convert the DOM object to a String?
