Is it possible in android framework to encrypt/decrypt voice data? What I am thinking is when a call comes in, and before user picks it up another local application is activated, it then encrypts and decrypts outgoing/incoming voice data?

I was wondering how to break apart .apk files in Windows to see all of it's components, edit some of the components, and put the file back together.
I have been able to open up the file to see the components using WinZip but I am unsure of how to re-"make" the .apk file again using WinZip. Is there a special option within winzip or can you just change the extension from .zip to .apk? Not sure if this matters, but the .apk files are being used within Eclipse in an emulator as of now.

Would it be possible for me to build an application that enables people to encrypt call coming to me with my public key and then for me to decrypt the call data at my end using my own private key. This way I basically have a more secure communication channel which I am assuming because RSA is hard to crack would be difficult to monitor.I am asking this question from a research point of view and have absolutely not considered the factor as to how computationally feasible would such an application be. I would just like to know if there is a way for me to intercept my outgoing data using any built functions.

After upgrading, I chose to apply the "Encrypt Tablet" feature -- and now I regret that choice. The tablet won't take any more system updates, and apparently it can't ever successfully follow through on a factory reset.
Any way to decrypt an encrypted Ice Cream Sandwich tablet -- or at least if there's a way to factory reset it successfully?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI encrypted my Samsung Galaxy Nexus several months ago and now I want to decrypt the drive and wipe the information. Nothing I have tried has worked so far.
The option to perform a factory reset through the OS has not worked. I make the selection, enter in my passphrase, the phone reboots into the green robot screen (like it was updating) then when it boots back up it asks me to enter in the encryption passphrase again and I do then it takes me to my un-wiped phone.
I have also attempted to reset it with the ClockworkMod Recovery and it will not work either. Giving an "Error mounting data!" message and similar message for the rest
I have my Nexus unlocked and rooted but it is running stock other than those two.
I plan to develop Android application which will encrypt/decrypt voice data such that parties can communicate using secure channel. So the question is: how to intercept voice/audio data during GSM call? Is it possible or not? Should I use Android NDK or something else?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to wrap my head around this and it's probably an obvious answer but why can't I dial out using my GV number unless I have a data connection active? Per Google and from what I can see, no VoIP is being used and it seems to me when I have a data connection and use GV to dial out it just dials a Google number first. I'd think the call would be made to GV, GV would patch the call through to the person being called and pass on the GV caller ID number. So why does the app need to have a data connection to work?

My bro forgot his google password. The secondary email is completely defunct. The security question is completely incomprehensible. He even filled out the form to convince google that he is who he says he is... no dice.
The ONLY place the password is stored is his HTC Hero, as a saved gmail password.

Is there currently API hooks in the iOS and Android platforms for accessing / manipulating the voice / data streams? What I would like to do is encrypt all outgoing steams and decrypt all incoming streams before they reach and other processes that need that data.
I would assume that because the Android platform is open source one should be able to do this, it just may have to be hacked together. I'm more worried about iOS.

According to Android Central, it can decode FLAC, but only in Android 4.0 and higher, and I'm currently on Android 2.3.4 on a HTC Amaze 4G...

I just encrypted my LG G2 and chose I believe a 17 character random password which includes punctuation. It's hard enough to remember and I only wish to enter it when I power on the phone. However it seems I have to enter it every time the phone locks itself. I don't want that, it's a heck of inconvenience. I just want swipe to unlock, not no pin or no pattern and only want to enter the big as password when the phone turns on. I am rooted and on the latest AT&T firmware.

Because given the price difference of a 2 yr contract a new phone would in theory need to be over $560 before it is no longer worth buying outside. So what is the incentive of getting a simlocked phone, that costs more, and be locked into a 2 yr contract? I guess this applies to some of the other smartphones as well.
