View 10 RepliesI created my style in styles.xml, lets say MyStyle. I can use it in any layout file by style="@style/MyStyle". Also my generated R class have R.style.MyStyle, my question is if I can use it at runtime to "setStyle" - unfortunately View doesn't have such a method. If not what is R.style.MyStyle used for? (I already know that custom themes IDs are also in R.style and can be used to setTheme, but MyStyle is not a theme).

I just found out the following:
1) We can get frames using glReadPixels. (No video on this step?)
2) MediaRecorder can encode video, but how can we provide it our raw source, if possible?
3) Any working ports of ffmpeg(for example) or other encoding libraries? There are some tutorials of portng ffmpeg to use withing NDK. So, having raw frames and working port of ffmeg we can create video? Any issues on this step? Anyone managed to port any encoding library successfully? What components do I need from ffpmeg?
I am new to Java and Android. I have a flat file (pipe-delimited) stored in R.raw called word list.text. I want to open this file and quickly search for a word I pass into my procedure. I've been searching for a simple way to do this but not having much luck. Can anyone share some code on how to do this?

I am from Greece. i am sailor so i bought from Italy a LG optimus L9 P760 v20B (with "TIM" software as i can image from those TIM aps inside). It doesn't have greek language so after a fail contaction with LG, i tried to search in xda to find a solution. The only solution is the OFFLINE METHOD but i followed every step one by one but i didnt make anything.... Not possible to install the greek kdz file with offline method. After doing those steps, after step "9" when im clossing the small box, there is no step 10 for me. Actually i never saw a step 10 in any of mine pc. I feel that something is going on in the small server.
Do i need to have internet to do the offline method??
I need 2 things only
1) Greek language
2) To root the phone so i can delete those TIM's apps which are full unusable for my GREEK probider ( and i cannot understand italian...)
In my Android app I want to have an input field with autocomplete. The number of items will be about 300000. The best solution seems to be to put the items into a file (on sdcard), one item per line, each line would have the same number of characters so that I can seek to specific line number. If the user enters something in the text field, I would binary search (via RandomAccessFile) the file and show suggestions.I want the autocomplete to be super fast (ideally under 100ms but I guess it's impossible), what optimizations I can do?
Update 1:
I will convert the users input to lowercase english characters (a-z) with spaces. So 'A/b' would be converted to 'a b' and then searched.
Uodate 2:
I now realized I need additional thing - to search for word-starting substrings.
I'm trying to override the onBackPressed() method of the ActivityGroup class:
public class MyClass extends ActivityGroup {
@Override
public void onBackPressed() {
// do something
return;
}
but I'm getting the error The method onBackPressed() of type MyClass must override a superclass method. I'm relatively new to Java, I've seen here that people do it and it works for them Why I'm getting this error? I'm writing an app for android 1.5, could the problem be here?
In Eclipse, when I mouse hover over a built-in method, it displays a method definition including stuff like what the method does, input objects, return objects etc. If I have a yellow line (warning) under the method I'm trying to use, I can't get the mouse-over to show the definition. If I try hitting F3, I get a "The Jar of this class file belongs to container "Android 1.6" How do I show the definition of the method I am using when there is a warning?

I took a look at it but it didn't look like the entries were specific to a particular app. Looks like some system log. Anyone know if there would be a problem deleting it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen implementing search in my application, I'm including some search context info depending on the activity where search is invoked. In one of those, I'd like to implement type-to-search as well, but the standard method of adding search context info doesn't work in that case... the onSearchRequested() method in the activity is never called. Is there any way to include search context info in a type-to-search invocation, or am I stuck with only the Search key and menu option?

I am able attach file from external storage sdcard while emailing the same using getExternalStorageDirectory as sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, Uri.parse("file://"+Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory()+"/ zibra.txt"));

We are suddenly unable to install our app on G1 developer phones with 1.6. Works perfectly on emulator. When installing the app we get:
Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE Please check logcat output for more details. Launch canceled!
And logcat:
PackageManage: Couldn't copy package file to temp file.
What does this mean? We checked that there is actually room enough on the phone.. We tried reverting the code to a revision that worked previously, but are getting the same error.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to play file which is stored in SDCARD in emulator. I have Linux O/S. So i need to provide command in run configuration. I am providing following parameter.

I have some reference data in a text file (~5MB) that I want to use with might android application.The file is of the format:
1|a|This is line 1a
1|b|This is line 1b
2|a|This is line 2a
2|b|This is line 2b
2|c|This is line 2c
What I want to know is the most efficient way (less memory, fast, size etc.) to use this file within my application.
a.) Should I save the file as a raw resource and open and read the whole file whenever I need a certain line.
b.) Should I convert the file to XML and use XPath to query the file when ever I need to look up a value
<!--sample XML -->
<data>
<line number="1">
<entry name="a">This is line 1 a</entry>
</line>
</data>
c.) Should I just copy & paste the whole file as a static string array in the application and use that.
[EDIT] I will also need to search this file and jump to arbitrary keywords e.g. "line 1a".
