Using Android, is it possible to automatically make your phone initiate a screen gesture (like a swipe across the screen) whenever you hit the power button, then proceed to turn off the phone? I know it's a very weird question, but I have my reasons.
I imagine it's possible with some type of app like Tasker, but I don't know if Tasker can initiate screen movements that imitate a finger moving across the screen in a point and direction of your choice.
Is it possible to make 2 MapView on one Activity ?
If so, How to make it ?
I have click able icons on a map showing a PopupWindow just above the icon when clicked. However, if the icon is on the topmost part of the map the PopupWindow will be hidden under the Android Status Bar.
The PopupWindow will automatically adjust to the right and left edges of the screen, and also to the top edge but doesn't take the status bar panel into account.Either there should be a way to accommodate the height of the MapView, or an attribute to the PopupWindow that takes the status bar into account. Of course it's always possible to add a fixed size top margin, but the top panel have different heights on different Android units.Can anyone help with this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNeed some advice, google maps and navigation never quite takes me to the right place, close too it but never quite there. Now near location is okay for something free, but its usually that last wee bit that you need more than anything, instead of you coming to an estate and it tells you its on the left hand side, which is the whole estate. I read in a thread here someplace about another free sat-nav that Im sure was for another phone type, but then someone in one of the other phone forums gave everyone a link into that forum to show how it works. Anyone know what I am talking about ? (most folks never do and they know me lol) or anyone know how to make the google navigation more reliable?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on an app that needs body movements as inputs. So basically I want to know if a person turns around completely (360°). If a the person does sthg happens inside the application. My problem for now is: How to figure out if a person turned around? I don't see an approach with gps as the person is not moving enough. So I thought about the compass or acceleration sensor but I have no clue how to manage that.

I would like to detect shake movement in a service that is running in the background, even when the phone is not currently being used. Is it true that the only way to do this is to hold a wake lock? I suppose this would consume a lot of energy and drain the battery very fast.Is there no way to wake up the phone whenever a shake movement occurs? Maybe with the native sdk? I would imagine the accelerometer causing some kind of interrupt.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know this is more of a general programming question, but my Android friends here have always been helpful. I am trying to make an image move from one part of the screen to a position the user touches, as a constant speed. I don't know the best way to go about doing this and the way I have been trying to get to work is taxing my brain too much.
I have been using geometry to calculate slope, then using Sin * movement speed to calculate the difference in X,Y coordinates.
This is the codecode...
The problem that I'm having is the image is veering way of course when traveling in Y heavy paths. When traveling horizontally it works almost perfect.
I know there is probably an easier way though I don't know how to use a lot of things (like OpenGLES) so if your advice is to use a different method please link a tutorial for that method if you know of one.
Is it normal in all Cliqs for the screen-half to be very slightly moveable in the up-and-down vertical direction, both in open and closed position? I'm not talking about inward and outward, but rather up and down on the vertical y-axis like from the ear speaker at the top to the mouth mic at the bottom. And I'm only talking about a millimeter of very slight movement if you hold your thumb down firmly or grab it with two fingers and try to move it.

I am adding 60 overlays to the map view and i originally thought that the icon size may be causing the problem by using up all the memory. When i decreased the overlay icon size, it did improve things, though it is still to slow to be usable. Has anyone experienced anything similar and have a workaround? There may be a better way of doing it other then extending the Hello MapView example.
How to get MapView API in android?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have subclassed Overlay as LandMarkOverlay (and implemented an onTap(GeoPoint) method).
In the main activity I do this:
setContentView(R.layout.main);
MapView mapView = (MapView) findViewById(R.id.mapview);
mapView.setBuiltInZoomControls(true);
landmarkOverlay = new LandmarkOverlay();
//add the landmarkOverlay to the list
mapView.getOverlays().add(landmarkOverlay);
What else do I need to do so that when the user taps the screen, landmarkOverlay's onTap(GeoPoint) method gets called?

I am attempting to get the simplest MapActivity to run on the device. (NetBeans latest and greatest using a Google Api build target.)
I have all the appropriate Manifest entries, the simplest OnCreate --- > all it does is setContextView() to the xml with a mapview in it.
I recently want to put mapview in tabhost but now is the question i can't figure out how to do this right!
