For some reason, my Facebook feed is not updating with my Loopt "check-ins". I have the app on my phone (obviously), set up my account, and changed my FB settings accordingly. But when I hit "share" on my phone it simply won't publish to FB. Does anybody else have this problem? I'd really like to get this solved, Im going on vacation next week and I want to use Loopt..

i take no credit for this, just found it over on XDA. Here's how to get this working
1. Search for Adfree Android on the market
2. Install and run
3. allow it to download and install new hosts file, it will copy it to your sdcard and try to replace /system/etc/hosts but fail (it should reboot the phone shortly)
3a. Phone may reboot, this is fine, don't worry. if it doesn't reboot, check your SD card for a file simply named "hosts". if it's there, then continue on.
4. Power off the phone and hold Volume Down and power.
5. Use volume down to select recovery
6. In clockwork recovery volume down to "partitions menu" and hit the track pad to select
7. Select "mount /system", "mount /sdcard" and "mount /data"
8. Plug in your usb cord and open a command line on your pc
9. enter adb shell and type: cp /sdcard/hosts /data/data/hosts (This copies the AdFree hosts file from the SD Card to the /data partition, where it can be edited by AdFree)
10. mv /system/etc/hosts /system/etc/hosts.bak (This renames the current hosts file, rather than deleting it, should you ever want to remove AdFree and return to the original hosts file)
11. ln -s /data/data/hosts /system/etc/hosts (This creates a symbolic link, which allows AdFree to edit the hosts file stored in /data while allowing the OS to use the file as if it were stored in /system. You won't need to reboot into recovery each time you want to update the hosts file!)
12. Reboot and enjoy.
EDIT: updated with new method. just did this myself and it works great. it updates on it's own now.
ANOTHER EDIT: I just had a guy PM me asking "what if the phone doesn't reboot on step 3?"
it may or may not reboot. bottom line is that we want the "hosts" file to get downloaded from Adfree onto our SD card. so if the phone doesn't do an instant reboot when getting the hosts, just check your SD card for a file named "hosts". if it is there, then you are good to continue on and follow the rest of the steps. let me know if you need any further help. i did it the old way about a week or so ago, and then did it the new way last night so that i could have Adfree automatically update the hosts file on its own. the new method does work flawlessly.
I am constantly annoyed by google's mobile search app. Modifying the search term is a fiasco, and using the swype keyboard to do it takes you to the bottom. Lastly, the search icon on the bar is either broken, or just does not work for me. Is there a way to make it use classic by default?

I can't get it to install. It says not enough space when installing via astro or any other file managers while i have hundreds of mbs free. I am rooted but everything is stock others reported the same thing when trying to install. I tried to install via adb but i am not positive on how to do it. Has anyone gotten this to work on the incredible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my Incredible last week. Along with it I bought the HTC car mount from the Verizon store. When the phone was placed into the mount the touch screen would not work. The phone works fine out side of the holder, and fine in the holder but not when the holder is attached to the suction cup arm. It's like the phone is squeezed or something... it wont even unlock. I took the holder back to the Verizon store, the tech support girl was confused as well. We pulled another holder out from the back and it did the same thing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust a heads up that your Cox POP email might not work properly on the incredible.I just set up my cox POP email on the incredible's email client and I can only read incoming mail from the POP email server but can not send email via the SMTP outgoing server. The same issue occurs if you use other android email clients that you download.I spoke with Cox, Verizon and eventually HTC tech support about the issue and after several hours of research (the last 1.5 hrs done by HTC) it was discovered that the incredible is unable to connect to the Cox outgoing smtp server for the west coast (smtp.west.cox.net). The HTC support team was able to use different mobile devices on the Verizon network to connect to the cox outgoing server (which means the server is just fine), but they were unable to get any incredible to connect to the cox outgoing server. (They tried a couple of incredible phones).
HTC support was fantastic. It took a very long time to get a support person on the phone but when I eventually spoke with someone they drilled deep into the problem and drug in many others on their team.HTC informed me that they are going to elevate this issue to the next level of support (which could take up to 14 days). Hopefully they can resolve this or I'll have to ditch the phone and head back to my old phone.if you use smtp.west.cox.net as your outgoing server keep an eye on this thread
Unless there is a setting somewhere I'm missed that controls them to save battery, only my top LED for the camera works. I noticed it playing with the new flashlight after upgrading to 2.2 checked both the camera and video camera. Not sure if it was a problem before 2.2.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed yesterday that only the top LED is lighting up when activating my flash while taking a picture. I am running Cyanogen 6 on the phone so I thought it might be some kind of software glitch so I restored back to my Stock + Root image and it still isn't working.
1. Has anyone else had this problem?
2. If I restore back to 100% stock (I haven't updated the radio yet) and bring it into Verizon, is this something they will cover under warranty and give me a new phone?
3. In the event that there are no Incredible immediately available do you think it would be possible to get a Droid X instead?

Whenever i plug my phone into my car (which is a lexus is 250 2008) through the auxiliary jack, voice dial comes on and starts going crazy when i start up Pandora. It will start skipping tracks and sometimes calling the last person on my redial list. It also does this with slacker. I tried going to manage apps and turning off voice dial and it still comes back on. I didn't have this issue in my friends car and a verizon tech told me that maybe my car is trying to read my phone when i hook it up through the jack. I want to know if anybody else had this issue and if so what is the solution.
View 4 Replies View RelatedUp until yesterday, the pop up screen would always come on, whether the phone was locked or not; it's how I had to do in the settings. Now, all of a sudden, if the phone is locked, the pop-up screen no longer comes on. The screen turns on, i see the notification in the status bar, but the pop-up screen no longer shows until i unlock and use the pattern to unlock. I changed nothing at all and the settings are as they were.

I have checked the "keep tackball pulse" option in settings, but still nothing. Am I missing some setting option?
All of a sudden, I can't hear anyone when on a call using the ear piece. Speaker phone works fine, but when I toggle back - nothing. The other party can hear me just fine. I've tried rebooting, removing the battery and even plugging in and unplugging a pair of headphones (that I never use with the phone, anyway), but to no avail. It's dead to my ear - no "open air" sound - as if it's not even on.

i get: pm sbin/sh: pm: not found. Whats the deal? I read that entering su would fix that, but su is not recognized either.
This morning I wanted to turn on my DINC, but it did nothing. I removed the battery, then restarted the DINC. Everything seemed to work fine. However, upon connecting it to my PC, I noticed that my USB port didn't work any longer (it was not recognized by the pc, nor did my phone get charged. I went to the VZW store, and they told me that my USB port was broken. Will get a new device on Monday. In the mean time I am out of juice.

Update: I turned my phone off and On again and it works. This is the second time this happened. The thing I usually do is when I charge my Phone I turn it completely off. Then I unplug it and plug it back in 2-3 times in the morning for the Full Charge. Then I turn it on and go to Task Manager or ATK Pro and kill all Apps. Bad or good?
All of the sudden my Incredible has dropped it's 3G signal and reverted to 1X. I have no clue what's going on. Every now and then 3G will try and pop back on but then the cell signal drops to 0 or 1 bar and then everyone who calls me gets my voice mail instead of my phone ringing. I've updated my PRL to the newest one and I've tried Hybrid PRL's too and nothing is helping. Everything was fine just yesterday, this just started today. My 2250mah battery is almost dead due to lack of signal all day. Any ideas?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem sending MMS to AT&T from my Incredible. I attached the photo and it resizes it and says it sends but my friend never gets it. I tried to send one with the stock messaging app and it went through.
SMS messages go through fine. I even upped the size limit of a picture from 300KB to 1M and still nothing and some of the resized pics are way less than 300KB.
I was able to send an older pic that didn't need to be resized. Could it be the resizing?
Ok First off I'm a total Noob. I just rooted mt Dinc and am trying to change the boot animation. I can't get the adb push command to work. What am I doing wrong i followed the droid life directions and it says Adb is not recognised as an internal or external command what am I doing wrong?

Anyway this one hasn't had the weather working properly since I have received it, even after going to Froyo. It shoes my weather town name as "Current Location" instead of my towns name which the first two Incredibles showed just fine. The phone will occasionally show my town but not always. I have tried updating the weather a couple times but no luck. I also made sure all the location settings were turned on.

She has a droid so not like its a bad phone, I can send a receive to myself and she can receive if I just have stock on my phone. I really want 2.2 but won't if she can't get pics.
