Oct 7, 2010What exactly are they? I see many threads about Launcher Plus Pro and how awesome it is. Does this require rooting? (I don't know if I wanna root my phone).

View 9 RepliesIn HTC, I get the option to add widgets, programs, shortcuts and folders to my home screen. Using LP, I only have the option to add to dock or home screen shortcuts, widgets, folders, and wallpaper; no programs. I especially want to add programs like Jorte to my dock. I'm sure that I am missing something easy but I cannot figure it out. I really like LP but I am frustrated.
View 8 Replies View Relatedwhen I click on launcher it does not show displayed activity log for launcher, it shows it way before during boot up stage. why is this happening?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using LP for about a week (it's great BTW!) and this just started to happen so it could have something to do with the latest update. I've set LP at the default launcher and everything works great. However, if I ever long press the "home" button, go to an application, then press "home" again I get the popup asking me which launcher I want to use. I check the "set as default" box then select LP and everything is good again. It all works until I long press home the next time, then the remembered default is gone and I get the prompt again. I've tried rebooting, clearing defaults, etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was informed of Launcher Pro in my search for customizing without rooting and then my boyfriend came across ADW launcher. I was just wondering if there were any major difference between the two? Pro or Cons?
View 27 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Launcher Pro a few days ago and am loving it. As most of you know that after downloading it, pressing the home button gives you the option of which home screen launcher that you want to..well.. launch..either HTC Sense or Launcher Pro. Well this morning I picked Launcher Pro, but accidently clicked the "don't ask me this again" box before that, so now I'm stuck on Launcher Pro and can't get back to my, or any, HTC Sense launcher. I've gone all through my settings and can't figure it out. I'd like to either get back to my old HTC Sense home screen, get to the DEFAULT HTC Sense homescreen, or get back to being able to have the option to pick which one I want to launch.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI do not consider my G1 to be a phone. My old second hand Nokia 6100 was a better phone because it was so small and light weight. Why I bought the G1 is because I consider my G1 to be a Mini Laptop. But we need better program for it. I need a graphic program like the Paint Shop Pro 4 where I can resize and fix photos. I still have not figured out how to connect to WiFi and call the USA for free (I am in Vietnam) BUT G Voice should be doing something in a few weeks. I will wait for them. Tonight I downloaded the USB connection program so my G1 can make my computer in my hotel connect to internet but edge network here is expensive. I did find a way to stop the phone from Sniffing the EDGE network. I mess up the name in the APN code by adding xxx to the end. Then it will not connect to DATA.

In native development, you can produce libraries - .so, .dll etc - that other libraries and programs can share. In Java, you can put your code in a JAR in the classpath and other programs and libraries can use it.So how can you do modular programs in Android? I get the impression from the documentation that each APK is a self-contained island. Can different APKs share code?
And how does installation work when you have these external dependencies? Can you specify that you rely on library that is not in your APK and get it installed too?If you can't have 'dynamic linking', can you have 'static linking' by developing your shared code and somehow putting the equiv of a JAR into each APK that requires it?
theres a new program in the android marketplace that allows you to install programs from the SD card. can someone try it out and tell me how it goes?
View 8 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else had the issue where when you launch ADW you can't access all the same widgets as you could without it? When I use ADW launcher I can't seem to access the Media & Web player widgets that I can normally access - those are the lovely little spinning pieces that display your pictures/wallpapers/music or your browser bookmarks. I'm on the Acer Liquid E - 2.1. Are there any decent programs to replace these two widgets or should I replace ADW? I'd like to keep ADW so I can have 7 screens without modding my phone. Or is there a replacement for ADW that will let me have more screens and access all my regular widgets?

I've used google to find something but without any luck. What are the default apps? Can I send MMS by default? Can I record video with it by default? View 3 Replies View RelatedI have written a command line interface program in the C language. This kind of programs (as you know) waits for user commands typed in the terminal and reacts on depend of them. In fact, the program implements a callback function which parses the command and invokes the appropriate function in order to respond to the user. Now, I have to make a Java GUI (Graphical user interface) for the desktop (Ubuntu) version of this program and then port the same program to the Android Platform (of course the GUI will respect Android framework), so I'm looking for the best way to do it.I have heard about JNI and JNA and I don't known which one will be the best for me. By the way what are the main differences between JNI and JNA.

However, it benchmarks lower than when I use ATK to kill everything. My quadrant scores really get low when ATK shows a ton of programs. Kill them and the phone is slow, but benches higher. I stopped using ATK for the most part, but occassionally do for what ever reasons. High bench marks makes me feel good, but so does a smooth phone!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently loaded an update to the Bedside (Night Clock) paid application. The shortcut I had on my Android desktop changed from the bed icon to a gear icon. I dragged the gear icon to the trash with the intention of re-adding the bed icon from the all programs screen. Sadly, there is no entry for Bedside on the All Programs screen!
I can run the program using many clicks by going to Market > My Downloads > Bedside > Open. Is there a way to add an installed app into the All Programs screen without root? Note: if I long click on the desktop and try to add an app, Bedside also doesn't show up in the resulting list. It is installed because I can run it through Market. I have considered uninstalling and reinstalling but am unsure if I will be charged again.
I just purchased an HTC Desire Z a few days ago and one of the first apps that I have downloaded is MSNTalk since I do a lot of messaging on MSN Messenger. I leave this app on all the time and I feel that it drains my battery considerably.
I've gone through the basic "conserve your battery" steps that many people have mentioned (i.e. no wi-fi, low backlight, increase email sync time, download only headers, kill running apps that are doing nothing, etc, etc.). However, my battery does not last more than 22-23 hours.
This 22-23 hours is with extreme minimal usage since I wanted to test the idle life on the phone. 22-23 hours of battery life without much use is quite bad imo, especially with the steps taken above to try and conserve more battery. The only thing I haven't tried yet is completely turning off MSNTalk and then testing how long the battery lasts. As we speak, my phone is charging and when it is at full battery life I will see if MSNTalk was indeed the culprit here.
Also, with MSNTalk on during the 22-23 hours the amount of data usage was around 8-9 MB/day. I think this is fairly high as well. This means the 3G was being used constantly.
I'd just like to know if anyone else has used MSNTalk and found the same issues with the battery life.
If it is indeed MSNTalk, does anyone have any suggestions on a good MSN IM app that is very good on the battery (i.e. BeeJive, EBuddy, etc)? For example, my friend uses BeeJive on his iPhone and it doesn't have the same battery issues as I do (he can easily go over a day).
