View 8 RepliesI am tired of my kids not listening and installing games on my phone when i let them play a game that i installed. So i need some type of way to block the market place from installing anything without a password first. That or have a password to enter when you launch market place.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince it is a Linux running there i wanted to ask if it is possible to install programs like "apt-get", "man" and such things.I've already asked google, but it looks like everyone tells me to install apt-get via the packet manager from the distribution... and well i haven't seen apt-get in the market. Also is there a website which shows me some programs after rooting from which i can benifit with its use?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe 2 programs I have of concern are both unavailable on the market.Shapewriter and a legal beta of Swype. My phone needs a factory because screwy things are happening.Although I screwed up my swype by deleting the installer, which i though i could do, so that doesn't work any longer now anyway. Is there a way to save the programs fro later?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi got a xperia x10 from wirefly couple weeks ago.It is a brand new phone everything goes pretty well. but one problem is i cant install any programs that i downloaded from other sites. The security is set to block the installation of applications not from Android Market.i did the research online and tried to clink setting--->application--->there are only two choices on there 1.manage application 2.development. I could not find the third choice, which it suppose to be "UNKNOWN SOURCE".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed a custom ROM (LeeDroid 2.1a with A2SD+), which installs Froyo version of Android. (Apps install on an EXT3 partition of the SD Card, that the phone thinks is internal memory). However, roughly 25% of apps don't work (ie. Swype, HTC's More Widgets (ie. Dice), TypoClock) . Whether I use Sense or LauncherPro, the same result. Either they don't show up in the app drawer (but can be seen in Applications), or can't be launched (via Quick Info). The apps installed via the Android Market show as installed, but the OPEN button is greyed out. These are apps that worked before on 2.1 Eclair. So with no more info than "Cannot launch application", I can't figure out if its Froyo or the custom ROM (LeeDroid A2SD+) that's the "root" of the problem.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created a rather large game, 18 megs, and am sick of getting 1 star because of the size. Now normally I would just figure out how to do this on my own but since this is something I'm only doing because Google dropped the ball and may soon rectify,I would really appreciate it if some one would provide me with code to do the following.
1. Make an HTTP connection to a server and dowload a .zip file to the SD card. 2. Then unzip the file to a directory on the SD card. 3. Finally delete the .zip file.
Has anyone done this before? What are the gotchas? I'm sure doing this comes at a cost, such as having to insure the graphics have been downloaded, failed downloads, and if you have a future update you have to manage updating the graphics yourself, am I missing anything?
I am using the getExternalFilesDir(null) method to save to the SD card. Saving and reading from the SD card is fine. The problem I am having is that every time I edit anything in Eclipse and rerun the app the data on the SD card is deleted. I know that saving to the directory returned by getExternalFilesDir(null) will allow the files there to be deleted when my app is uninstalled but is there a way to turn it off for just app updating? Is this only cause I am doing it from Eclipse and it won't delete the data when the app is updated from the market?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been hearing that with android you cannot install apps on an SD memory card? Does that mean you have to use the onboard memory of 512mb? That wont hold many apps AT ALL. If so that is a horrible choice by HTC to not incorporate a big storage and forget about the use of an SD card.

View 5 Replies View Relatedmy Desire is rooted with T-Mod, but i'm looking to update from the standard 2GB(i know right?) to the biggest I can possibly find. The only thing is I'm worried about the fact that this card has been partitioned when I rooted it, am I going to have to start from scratch and re-root? Or do I just partition the new one, install the ROM on the partition (? I don't really know what I'm talking about with this), and then transfer everything over once that's done?
I was looking at classes.. I've seen class 10 SD cards but can only seem to find up to class 6 in 16GB microSD and up to class 4 in 32GB microSD... I don't think i'll need 32GB, I was only getting it because I might decide to, I don't know, listen to my entire music collection without coming home in between? I guess I was just getting 32gb because I'm kind of into "Do it once, do it right." But if it's going to slow my phone down I'll just go for a 16gb...
