Been searching forums and the internet for an email client for Android, more specifically the Moto Droid. Is K9 the best it gets? Are there no other options besides the default client and K9? I don't need Exchange features, although my wife does.

I just wanted to know,whether is it possible to Add extra menu items to Standard email client? I know that we can use the email client to compose/forward mails, as well as we can access the content.Was just wondering if we can add extra menu items along with the existing menu items.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was under whelmed with the email client which handles POP3 (hotmail, yahoo, verizon, etc.) accounts, and was looking for an "Outlook Mobile" type client, coming from my Moto Q. The stock client just seems to limited, aside from having some issues. Looking around, I came across the K9 Mail client and found that it was available in the Android Market. Its only been installed for a few minutes but in checking the settings/features, its much more robust than the stock client. Many more check intervals, options to set default number of messages, delete from server on delete option. The only caveat on install stated that it may have issues with Hotmail (i.e. Plus or paid accounts may have connection issues) but my basic free Hotmail came thru fine.
Text is much easier to read with the white background, black text and 2 line info display. You can also manage identities, and has more features I don't understand, and probably wont use. With my check interval at 3 hours, I sent a test message from my comcast account (not involved with DROID) just now and got some certificate error message from the program (has its own mail folder for errors), when I performed a manual check/sync. I just ran it again and the message came through. I think it may have been SMTP setting issues, but they seem resolved. Based on the the interface and options alone, I think I'll work with this app.
I was just tinkering with my Droid Incredible's "Accounts & Sync" and I am confused about something. With the Gmail app, there is no option to designate how often to check do for messages because it's a push email client, good. But when I check my settings for Exchange, I am given options to select how often to sync. I was under the impression that Exchange ActiveSync is a push email service, meaning I shouldn't need to designate when I want it to sync because it pushes vs. pulling. Am I missing something here?

I wants to create a Email client with Exchange &/or Lotus Domino mail server. if possible then provide some code so that I can read and implement as own requirement, other wise at least how to implement.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy Nexus with Stock 4.0.4 ROM and a Transformer Prime also with the stock ASUS firmware (4.0.3), The company where I work has a mail server that supports exchange (Kerio Connect) At that server I have (because I need it that way) 2 different accounts, I need one of those accounts to synchronize everything; contacts, mail, calendar, and the other one to synchronize only calendar appointments.
If I configure the first account everything works just fine. But, when I configure the second account, I start receiving login errors for both accounts every certain time, the apps shows me the option to update my account credentials and when I do it works for the moment but after a while it fails again. If I delete whichever of the two accounts the other works fine.
I have not tested this scenario against other email servers, so I'm not sure if this a problem with my server or if this is an Android problem.
Both accounts are configured as Exchange accounts from Settings menu.
Is this something I have to deal with or is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Same thing w/ the calendar reminders. I have dismissed them on my phone but they still come up in outlook when I get home.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust got root today thanks to the great work everyone did to get it working for those who installed the leak. I've been trying a number of roms, but can't get any of them to connect to my work exchange account which is a dealbreaker for me. I thought 2.1 added the password unlock feature, but all the roms are saying "Exchange ActiveSync server requires security features your phone does not support" and I believe they've all been 2.1. What am I doing wrong?

When I use the default email client from captivate, even when I set the checking period as every 10mins, I won't get new emails unless I open the app and manually refresh, well, except the one of gmail. This happens on my yahoo email, hotmail and my school email, which all worked fine on my old iphone. People have talked about yahoo mails won't be accessible through wifi from Android, which happens on mine too. But even when I was at 3G, the email client won't auto check it either. I have tried K9 email client, it doesn't work either. The only thing I find work is the MailDriod, but the function of this app is very limited, it won't even open attachments by default. Does anyone else here have the same problem, or maybe an idea to fix the default email client?Also, I find when I use the ear set make calls, when I try to click the button on the ear set, it won't hang up the call as my iphone would. Is this a bug or just something Andriod can't do? The button on the ear set seems quite useless with Captivate, it can only control to play or pause by single click when play music, won't do song change when doule click it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI find that the basic Androd (On SE Xperia X10) features reliable But basic and I'm very frustrated that I do not seem to be able to copy/paste out from received emails And it would be nicer if the same application handled Gmail too.
So are there any work-arounds or alternative email clients with more features available?

My company only allows mobile access to corporate e-mail through WIndows phone. As an Android advocate, i prefer my own mobile device.
My only two choices are to access through my Android Chrome browser or find a way to make my Jelly-bean Android mail app look like it is a Windows phone. ...or a 3rd part mail app that looks like a Windows/windows phone mail client
I prefer the mail client route as it keeps in sync with updates.
I've had a quick search and couldn't find any topics exactly the same as the problem I am having.
For the first ten days or so all my contacts were syncing fine on the Hero from my Exchange account. I then added a new contact in Outlook / Exchange and from this point on, every time I sync the exchange contacts it fails with a client / server conversion error in the notifications. I deleted said contact again in Outlook to no avail.
The mail and calendar are syncing fine, and I have an HTC Snap syncing to the same Exchange account on the same network (Orange UK) just fine (I know the latter is Windows Mobile but still...)
Any ideas? Or is there any way I can see a log of some sort to see why it is failing?

anyway i can sync without it???
Are there any Google developer here who built the native non-gmail email client? If so, do you think you could investigate why many users (me included) continue to lose ALL email accounts at least once a week, and sometimes twice a day. it's basically an unusable application that can not be relied upon for anything. nice phones though. iphone never lost my email account settings.

When i receive emails they appear in inbox just normaly. But if I leave the inbox and come back in, they have disappeared. I just can�t figure it out, what kind of setups I have to have to keep the read emails shown?
I have the same 3 account in my laptop and k-9 doesn�t delete the emails from server, because I can download them when I use my laptop email client.

My school uses an email system that's based off of Gmail with my address being example@fiu.edu. The calendar is also the same. Here's a link of what the log-in looks like:

What email client is best for use with the Incredible?I'm using a G1 now, trying to move off an iPhone. The email situation doesn't seem very good.I have a yahoo ID, another POP mail, gmail, and a several IMAP accounts.How do folks access Yahoo mail? I've set it up with POP but the built in client doesn't handle it very well. The Gmail client is good for gmail but thats about it. It's hard to see which email is new and which ones have been read already.I'd like to be able to see my gmail, and yahoo mail on one screen if possible. View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm just coming from an iPhone 3G to the Captivate. I'm having a few frustrating issues that I can't seem to get resolved....I'll start with the email client...
1) There seems to be a DNS flushing issue when the Captivate moves from WIFI to 3G. I run a split DNS with the WIFI on a RFC1918 network and of course a routed IP when connected to 3G.The problem seems to be that as the Cap moves on and off WIFI as I move in and out of range of the WIFI signal and the Cap acquires it's new IP address, it does not expire the DNS cache and there when it tries to contact the IMAP server when going from WIFI -> 3G, it's doing so via the RFC1918 address and therefore doesn't work.Has anyon else seen that?
2) I have the email client set to get new email every 5 minutes. But it sometimes never updates the inbox until I actually go in to that inbox, then it updates.
3) It doesn't seem to keep a history of email addresses I've used for fast completion. For example, if I email Bob@accountemps, every time I send Bob an email, it doesn't remember that I've sent Bob an email before, and I have to type the entire address again.y primary use of the smart phone is an email client, and these issues are really frustrating to me.
I have had issues with the stock email client since i got my desire. the sync peak/offpeak times never worked properly no html email view I have tried Touchdown and roadsync and have disliked them both for one reason or another
1) they did not sync with the phone's phone book
2) they seemed to drain the battery
3) not proper widgets for emails
4) contacts did not sync with exchange or phone as they had their own DB for contacts
5) too many keypresses to do simple tasks.
6) they both charged If HTC could fix the peak/off peak times then I would be happy
as for html viewer of emails it's not the end of the world (touchdown did it lovely)
