Hi,
Is there any api on android which generates a Thumbnail image from an inputstream which is a video file?
Thank you.
I want to take a picture with camera, after read the document and googling,I found, if i don't want the original picture,i just use
Code...
how will you know that this thumbnail points to which actual image in the SD card. I have a problem with MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails displaying blank previews. Though I followed mihai fonoage part 2 on how to load it properly by using scaling. Still, I got duplicate images. So instead of using MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails I used MediaStore.Images.Media instead but it loads the actual image but oading is too slow even if bitmap is scaled. That's why I was wondering if there's a way to know which actual image is the thumbnail pointing or is there a way to know the exact location of the thumbnail for this actual image (The other way around).

And what about going from original image to thumbnail ID? Is that possible? I saw MINI_THUMB_MAGIC but it seems there is an issue with it.
I tried to create a video thumbnail as described here. I also read the reference here. In my app I first let the user choose a video with: startActivityForResult(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT).setType("video/*"), ACTIVITY_PICKVIDEO);
Then I determine the video ID with: fileID = Integer.parseInt(contentUri.getLastPathSegment());
So, the video content://media/external/video/media/5 would have the ID 5...............
I am developing an app in android, which basically visits a given url and downloads an image. Now i want to populate this downloaded image and show it in thumbnail view. I have tried out displaying the same from SD Card, but when i am doing the same for downloaded files, it doesn't seems to work.
public View getView(int position,View convertView,ViewGroup parent)
{
System.gc();
ImageView i = new ImageView(mContext.getApplicationContext());
if (convertView == null)
{
//imagecursor.moveToPosition(position);
//int id = imagecursor.getInt(image_column_index);
//i.setImageURI(Uri.withAppendedPath(MediaStore.Images.Thumbnails.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI, ""+ id));
i.setImageBitmap(bitmap);
i.setScaleType(ImageView.ScaleType.FIT_CENTER);
i.setLayoutParams(new GridView.LayoutParams(100, 100));
}
else
{
i = (ImageView) convertView;
}
return i;
}
I've got thumbnails which larger side is 70px (e.g 70x40 or 52x70).
I need to create a gray box 70x70px and put the thumbnail in it, so that image is aligned with the box at top vertically and center horizontally.
How to do that?
I've tried with an ImageView 70x70px, gray background, but image is not positioned as it should (it's in vertical and horizontal center, instead of vertical top and horizontal center).
I've also tried wrapping it with LinearLayout 70x70px, gray background and then positioning it, but then i get 1 or 2px line between LinearLayout and ImageView. I tried to set padding and margins to 0, but the gray line stays on...
Is it possible to get an InputStream (or file handler) to feed a SAX parser from an XML file stored at the Resources XML folder (instead raw Resources folder)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoing Android 2.1 development. Can anybody explain to me why the following code generates a IOException and doesn't load the file? This exact code used to work, and as far as I can tell, it should still work. For reference, the Log.d() command correctly lists all files that I expect, and the files are correctly zipped into my .APK file.

Any ideas on why this breaks now? The files I'm trying to read are tiny (couple of bytes) binaries.
I know this has to be trivial but I just don't find the right resource, I guess.
So all I want to do is retrieving a thumbnail for a video. All I have is the absolute path to the file on the sdcard as a String. So please point me into the right direction.
I am having problems getting videos to play on my HTC Desire. I have converted my .avi files into Mpeg4 so as the device could read them ok. I'm using the free programme 'Handbrake' to convert the files. And it does so with no problems. The new mpeg4 files play with sound and image.
The problem occurs when I transfer the images onto the phones SD card. The video files are picked up via the camera folder (where you can play videos as there is no actual video player) as well as on the video player app I downloaded today - 'mVideoPlayer', without any problems but when I click to play the video the screen is black and only the sound works (even though on my pc the file played fine).
Do I need to download a codec or something? I would have thought that as the Desire was compatible with mpeg4 files that it would play them straight off without having to add software.
I just recorded a video clip which had a strange effect. When in photo albums, instead of a thumbnail of the video in question, the phone created a thumbnail of a video I have recorded previously and then deleted. Does anyone know how to make the phone recreate all thumbnails for the media files? I am leaning towards deleting all the files in /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails/ but not sure this is the way to do it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an app that displays a video using VideoView. The layout consists of a Clock and a VideoView laid out in a simple vertical LinearLayout. Here's my code snippet that I use:
VideoView mVideoView = new VideoView(this);
mVideoView.setVideoPath(myVideoURL);
mVideoView.requestFocus();
mVideoView.start();
Since the buffering of the video takes about 8-10 seconds, the layout comes up with the Clock, but the VideoView stays blank. What I want to achieve is this:
- Display an ImageView for the 10s while the video is buffering
- Detect when the video is ready to be played (onPrepared?)
- Show the Clock and VideoView and start the Video
There are some image files, and I want to get Uri of these image files. In my code, I only know path and file name of image files.
How can I get Uri from its path and file name?
I have asked this before, but I never got a response.
I would like to be able to feed an InputStream to the media player, but it does not look like there is any way to do that. The InputStream would feed encoded (mp3 or aac) data to whoever is calling read() on it. The issue is that I may have to stitch data together or I may not have all the data at the time I need to start playing back, but I can get it as the user continues playing.
I see MediaPlayer.setDataSource() for files, streams and URIs, but nothing that seems like an InputStream. I see the JetPlayer which is incredibly thin on documentation. I see AudioTrack, but that requires PCM as input.
So, I'm back to what to use or how I can work around this limitation.
I connected to a server after then, to close InputStream and OutputStream call the code...
But, the streams is still alive. If I make once again, there are 2 different InputStream. Exception does not happen.
How to completely close the streams?
I am trying to parse a Rss2.0 feed on Android using a Pull parser. code...
The prolog of the feed XML says the encoding is "utf-8". When I open the remote stream and pass this to my Pull Parser, I get invalid token, document not well formed exceptions.
When I save the XML file and open it in the browser(FireFox) the browser reports presence of Unicode 0x12 character(grave accent?) in the file and fails to render the XML.
What is the best way to handle such cases assuming that I do not have any control over the XML being returned?
I have a binary file which contains keys and after every key there is an image associated with it. I want to jump off different keys but could not find any method which changes the index positioning in input stream. I have seen the mark() method but it does not jump on different places.
Does anybody have any idea how to do that?
Is it possible to get notified every time a new image,video is inserted on the sd card of your android device and how? I have looked at the Media Scanner class which indexes files but I can't find how to do get notified from that only how to notify Media Scanner of a new image I have created.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two png image files that I would like my android app to combine programmatically into one png image file and am wondering if it is possible to do so? If so, what I would like to do is just overlay them on each other to create one file. The idea behind this is that I have a handful of png files, some with a portion of the image on the left with the rest transparent and the others with an image on the right and the rest transparent. And based on user input it will combine the two to make one file to display. (And I cant just display the two images side by side, they need to be one file). Is this possible to do programmatically in android and how so?
