Is it possible to get notified every time a new image,video is inserted on the sd card of your android device and how? I have looked at the Media Scanner class which indexes files but I can't find how to do get notified from that only how to notify Media Scanner of a new image I have created.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just mounted my Evo as a disk drive so I could backup some of my older photos and then delete them from the SD card to free up space. Well I deleted over 1gb of media files and when I unmounted the SD card it still showed the same amount of free space as before.I opened up Astro File Manager to see if I could find the problem and the files were deleted from the various folders but when I clicked the menu button and selected Tools, I went to view the SD card usage and noticed a folder labeled .Trashes which contained the 1+gb of files that I deleted from the card.The problem is, I am unable to clear the .Trashes folder and free up that extre 1gb of space that I should have...Is there something I am doing wrong? How do I get that extra space back because there is no option to delete or clear the .Trashes folder and when the phone is mounted as a disk drive there is no path to that specific (.Trashes) folder.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe application I have uploaded into my cellular device is shown without the pictures I have insert to it. While the APK runs without problems on emulator when installed on Motorola milestone picture and icon doesn't shown as they were on emulator.
Steps I have done in order to install:
- I have inserted the xxx.apk file into the device via usb
- I downloaded an apps installer via the Market
- I opened the app using the installer and instead of picture an white background appeared
when I opened the xxx.apk file using file system I found the pictures.
Note: even an application icon weren't appearing. Apparently the res library having problem to be bined to application.
- I might need to add something to my appliction manifest?
- I might need to change something on my device ? (I already made a change and enabled user's not Market application).
I also tried an example as shown in hello android book the same example worked perfectly on the emulator where on my android device (Motorola milestone) the picture and icon weren't shown. Please tell me what I might be doing wrong guys I need to apply my project back at uni (I was the only one in uni who did it on android and in my country most of pep don't even know what android is so getting help outside of forum's like this is not an option).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an app that displays a video using VideoView. The layout consists of a Clock and a VideoView laid out in a simple vertical LinearLayout. Here's my code snippet that I use:

mVideoView.start();
Since the buffering of the video takes about 8-10 seconds, the layout comes up with the Clock, but the VideoView stays blank. What I want to achieve is this:
- Display an ImageView for the 10s while the video is buffering
- Detect when the video is ready to be played (onPrepared?)
- Show the Clock and VideoView and start the Video
This is a rooted Chinese tablet running Android 4.2.2, and I would like to have it boot up automatically when plugged in. Currently, if the tablet is powered off by holding down the power button, it will turn on automatically when plugged into a USB charger. If the device is shut down using the power menu or the reboot -p command, however, it will not turn on when plugged in. It will only display the charging symbol. Running the "adb shell reboot bootloader" command reboots to a black screen.

My status bar always shows my connections to be changing all the time, going from 5 bars to 1 bar, to no connection then no sim card and all over again. I'm just wondering if it was the updates fault, and do I have to re-update or factory reset the phone. P.S the SIM card message disappears after a phone restart but will come right back once you put it to sleep.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi bought x10 mini in february 2012. after some days i rooted the phone. and after some days it starts auto turn off while sim is inserted. and sometimes it restarts automatically. when charger is connected, there is no problem, but when disconnected, it shuts down immediately. and sometimes it turns off while sim is not inserted but the "on time period" is about 2/3 hours. but when sim is inserted, it turns off immediately just aftrer switched on the phone. and there is a battery draining problem too. sometimes, as example, 90% charge becomes 23% after autorestart. i send it to sony ericsson service centre, but nothing has improved. and now i can see the phone is not rooted.

Is there any way to change what you get notified for? Right now i only get notified for pokes. It'd be nice to hear "Droid" when someone posts on my wall or something. Any ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a list view with array adapter to show user some information that retrieved from Internet, As we all know reading data from Internet requires some time to finish, but if I try to read data on getView(), it means user must wait and he/she cannot see anything at that time, the screen is black for long a time because it will cost too much time to finish. This is unacceptable.
So I think maybe I can show user a empty list view first and then display a progress dialog to let user know I'm now just reading data. The background task will read data and send message to UI thread when job is done. But there's one problem: I don't know how to get notified when list view is displayed. I mean, I want to know when & where to show that progress dialog when I first show user an empty list?
