The onResume method was for some reason not working with Notify.clear(), so I used a combination of my attempt and Qberticus' suggestion. It's a little clumsy, but it works perfectly.

I am new to Android and just recently purchased an eris. I have noticed that you cannot access the notification shade in the browser. This is frustrating because you cannot check notifications while browsing the web. Is there anything I can do to get the shade in the browser?

When you go to Motorola's support page for 2.2 Android software you get an error page that says permission denied. Not sure whether to manually update to FRG22 or wait until the OTA update comes out if ever.

Too vague to be useful, in my opinion. My Setup:
- Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (Bell Canada)
- Android 2.1
- Dolphin HD Browser [Purchased]
Issue #1)
When I tap in the "Type URL or Search" input box in the Dolphin HD browser window, my Samsung dutifully brings up my "Swipe" Input keyboard.
When I 'Swipe out' a word and lift my finger, I expect it to produce a [space], as it does in other input text box's, but it does not. This would be fine if I was 'swiping out' a URL. The 'input box prompt text' says that it's also a search input box.
Issue #2)
When I zoom in on a web 'normal' sized web page, I slide the web page to the left to continue reading a sentence, but instead of the web page sliding to the left, the Dolphin "Tool Bar" pane gets pulled out from the right side. Again, if I slide the web page to the right, the bookmarks pane get pulled out.
I know I can turn this feature off, but, I LOVE this feature having the tools & book marks easily accessible.
This usually does not happen if the web page is a mobile web page (no sliding needed) or the web page is NOT zoomed in.
Is it me, or does anyone else have these issues? I love the browser, but these two issues are just small annoyances.

For most Google Contacts, once linked to a facebook account, properly display the photo as the contact photo. There are a few though that oddly don't. I can see their picture on facebook itself, it just doesn't get pulled into the Contact. I've inquired to these individuals and they don't seem to be using any particular privacy setting that would affect this.

Since all my personal and official data was stored on the sd card, which I couldn't pull out from the phone, I had activated the factory reset - including sd card formatting - before handing it over. As luck would have it, I was pressurized to give it up before the process finished so in a bid to save the data from getting into the wrong hands, I pulled out the battery while it was erasing data from the sd card according to the dialog box. My questions is: What are the chances of the sd card getting corrupted and the data becoming inaccessible? I need to know as I'm under a lot of stress because of it and there's no chance of getting it back. I had changed my google account's password the moment I reached home (after fifteen to twenty minutes) so I also the phone would have locked out.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAn interesting addendum to the Gameloft debate.I bought Asphalt 5 when if came out on the Market in April. It's now been pulled (presumably connected to Gameloft going to direct distribution). One think I notice is that when I pull up my list of Downloads in the Market application it no longer shows up. Presumably this means I won't be receiving updates on it.But presumably this also means I cannot reinstall it if I clear some memory / bork my phone / have a horrible experience with the Gingerbread update &tc &tc.Are they allowed to do this? Isn't one of the reasons I buy on the Market because I know I have the right to reinstall? Let's look at the marketplace agreement which (presumably) Gameloft signed up to: Android.com.Take a close look at clauses 3.6 and 7.1.
1) I have the right to unlimited reinstalls (3.6).
2) Even if an app is taken down by the vendor, my licence rights are unaffect (7.1).
3) There are special cases where an app can be taken down and reinstall rights suspended (if it infringes copyright, is defamatory etc). However if taken down under these circumstances I am entitled to a refund (7.1).
So as I see it taking down Asphalt 5 and denying me my right to unlimited installs contravenes the Marketplace agreement (does anyone else have experience with other paid apps that have been taken down?). And even if the app was taken down because it was dodgy (which I don't think it has done), I should be entitled to a full refund.I've lobbed a request into Gameloft support to see what they come out with, but I don't hold up much hope.
This is just a little pet peev wondering if someone has an answer. How do i update the pics that are pulled down from facebook into contacts and the favorites widget. My friends have changed photos and they don't seem to change on the phone.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to detect whether the Notification Windows is being shown? I have a service that updates an ongoing notification, complete with a progress bar and text? Is there a way to know if the notifiication screen is actually being shown, so I can adjust how often I wouldn't be so concerned if not for the fact that the HTC Incredible will reboot after it receives several hundred or so updates. Based on a controlled experiment with a beta tester, the service could continue for 24 hours if it did not update progress, but dies after several hundred updates. So I am desperate to reduce the notifications, if that's what works, and one of the ways I could do that is by not updating as much or at all if that screen isn't being shown.

When I slide the notification bar down to reveal the nofications and click on an item, the notification screen doesn't hide back to the top of my phone -- it just stays open. I either have to hide it manually or I have to hit the back button, which sometimes exits the app I was trying to open. 2.1 never did this for me, it always hid when choosing an item. Anyone have a solution to this? I've done a factory reset after 2.2 btw. I've also searched support to see if there was a similar problem, no similar threads.

Use case: Yahoo Weather app, the persistent notification in the pulldown is beautiful. I want it to always be there. However, the little temperature notification icon is pretty ugly, and I want to hide/disable it.
Using JB's "disable notifications" won't work since it will disable the entire notification, not just the icon.

Since the last time, I have a voicemail icon in my notification bar, clicking on it tells me to call my GV number to hear 3 messages. I cleared the messages in the GV app,but the notification wont go away. It has no Clear button to dismiss. I've rebooted the phone, tried calling the number, but have not yet tried throwing it against the wall. That's next.
