How to implement internet radio using java? Is there any Java APIs for this?
I want to make a internet radio using Android / java. But I am not getting any APIs how to connect or how to receive the channel information for streaming the audio.
Please help me how to create that same and provide some code/API for that.

I just got my Droid but I frequently use Pandora and Last.FM on my computer at work. Last.FM - Seems like the service has a better list of artists than Pandora so i switched to it on my PC recently. On Android the service is the same but as an app it tends to be open in the background all the time and suffers from not being able to pause (like the PC version). The scrobbling could be nice for some users and it links to the android player. Sound Quality seems excellent, best of the three so far. Pandora - Haven't gotten to use it too much because it takes so long to load my station. Sound Quality seemed fine with my limited use.
Slacker Radio - Has the most music options of the three and seems likes the best application. It has plenty of options like keeping the screen from freezing while plugged in and on wifi without having to change your phone settings. Had to stop listening from poor sound quality though! Sound Quality started ok but a bassy boom and click started appearing after a few songs, forced to switch to Last.FM.
How can you implement a RadioButtonPreference in android? Just like the CheckBoxPreference. Are there any workarounds?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently trying to integrate a live search functionality in android. I use a customized Autocomplete widget. The widget itself provides me with a threshold to only start a query after a certain amount of characters have been typed in. But what I also want is that a query only starts, say if a user has stopped typing for 2 seconds.
As I load my contents with a AsyncTask I tried blocking the doInBackground function by calling Thread.sleep() right at the beginning. If the user would then continue typing the program would look after an existing task, cancel it and start a new one. This was my idea. But it doesn't quite work the way I expected. Sometimes it sends out queries even if the user is still typing, sometimes queries are canceled after the users stopped typing. Do you have any ideas on this or maybe a better way to solve this? Iam implementing java code for MYGlucoHealth monitor. I have to catch the bluetooth data through my application and parse it to the readable format. (later i store that in SQLite database). But according to the protocol specification they provided, i cant understand how to read and parse it. i know how to pair the device with my application.But i don't know how to parse the data bytes as per the device specification protocol.Can anyone tell me how to do that. Anybody done with this kind of coding?

This service should be consumed by an android application, using the apache HttpClient.
But my question is, which is the best/ideal technology (server side) to implement this kind of web service?
I need to develop an application that will check whether the phone is in roaming. If it's in roaming then the application should block internet for all applications except several from white list. In non-roaming mode it should allow all requests. There should be no way for user to kill or suspend the application or turn internet on.
I'm not familiar with android much so I really don't know whether it possible to implement without modification of OS. Is there any way to do this?

Just switched from Iphone 3g (used 2+ years) to Samsung Galaxy S w/ Android 2.1 . So far so good and I love the phone. I'm a bit disappointed with SOME of the apps. Mainly there dosn't seem to be an Internet Radio app that allows recording.
On iOS ther was TuninRAdio, this was a perfect app which allowed recording. I have discovered all kinds of new music this way. TuninRadio for Android is nerfed , no recording feature. I've tried a few and many radio apps don't have a record feature. anyone know of a good internet radio app that allows recording?
I like to listen to internet radio stations due to the variety of music i can listen to and also due to the lack of full Flash support yet for 2.1
my 3G & HSDPA signal is excellent almost anywhere....at home, at work and on the road and out and about. i'm with T-mobile (UK) for the past 5 years and i'm very happy with their service. and the signal.
but sometimes the internet radio still buffers sometimes even with an almost excellent signal. why is this? any explanation?
i have i htc hero with villain2.4 iam looking for a voice command app that can runn all the time (no need to press ) to operate the phone or at least to operate the internet radio while driving or is there a internet radio app with voice command .i had some good internet radios like last fm shoutcast etc but when you drive ur car its a pain to change stations.

Im using Eclipse on ubuntu, and the end target is 2.1 (ZTE racer).
Are there any free apps out there that play live streams I.E audio or video when clicking on a link while surfing the Internet on the htc desire? I'm trying to listen to an Internet radio stream that isn't listed in all those android apps that you can download like XiiaLive Lite. On the PC you would go to the radio station website and click on the listen now link and windows media player or realplayer would pop up and play the stream. Is there anything similar on android that just plays the link?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have code that creates rows in a table that hold a string in column 1 with a RadioButton in column 2. There can be a variable number of these rows. That all works just great, but I want to add them to a RadioGroup so only one button can be toggled at a time. When I tried to add the dynamic RadioButton to the RadioGroup AFTER I added it to the table row, I got an error saying that the child (the RadioButton) already had a parent. I agree, it does have one, the TableRow.
can you have radio buttons tied to a radio group inside of a row or, should I just code my own toggle mechanism and avoid RadioGroup all together? I mean, I could code the onClick to unclick all other radio buttons, but I would rather not do this if I can use the build in RadioGroup.

I have multiple radio buttons which I want to layout using a table but also include them in a single radio group. I have the following xml layout:

android:layout_width="wrap_content".........
But unfortunately the radio buttons inside the table seem to ignore the fact that they're inside of the RadioGroup tags and because of this you can select more than one radio button at the time. I noticed that by removing the table and just having the radio buttons it works just fine. How can I overcome this? Would it be as simple as declaring the radio group inside of the table instead of outside?
I turned on my Droid this morning to listen to MSNBC and I heard the last 5 minutes of Keith Obermann (5:55 am est) and then all of my news and talk channels disappeared! Channels like CNN, C-SPAN, MSNBC and NPR are all gone from my favorites and the channel line-up. There is nothing in the "News and Public Radio" category.
Has anyone else noticed this? I'm thinking this must be a temporary glitch but I would hate to lose all of these channels. If you have the Sirius/ XM radio app, would you please check this on your Droid?
