I'm making a few updates to my app called "Email Me." It's already on the market, but I want to make sure the changes I'm making to the pro version work before I push them out. The app is very simple...it just creates a pre-populated email to send to yourself (or whomever is set up in the configuration). I updated the app to allow you to use custom icons for the home screen shortcuts, but I also cleaned up the code a bit and I want to make sure nothing got messed up as a result.
If you're interested, please email me at info@caramellabs.com. This is the pro version that's on the market for $.99 and anyone that helps me test will get the final version before I release it. Please note that I'm only looking for a few testers.

I read in the comments for my app G-MoN, that it crashes on the droid. It runs perfectly on my Milestone. So the differences in gsm and cdma version might be the problem. I modifed the attached G-MoN version to run also on cdma phones. Please try it. If there are still crashes, please send me a logcat copy if possible. G-MoN is a wardriving scanner.

I'm bedroom developer and I'm finishing my first android game, Flee, which (hopefully) will be released in the coming weeks. I'm a bit scared to release it into the wild, cause I have only tested it in two different phone models (Samsung Spica, Motorola Milestone), and wouldn't like to receive a lot bad rating because of an elusive bug in the most popular phone. In exchange I offer myself to beta-test your apps/games, and if I find a proper way (because the market does not allow gifts right now), I'll give a free copy of the paid game to the testers. Reply in this forum or send me an email and I'll send you back the apk and the link to the survey.

I've created a manga-reader application for Android 2.1 and I'm currently looking for betatesters who will receive the application for free and report errors and suggestions back to me.
I preffer people with real handsets (not just running emulators) to get a good idea of how the application runns in real life.
Also, it would be prefferable, but not nececarily nececary for the beta-testers to actually have a good interest in japanese manga (scanlated to english of cause).

I just got my Droid but I frequently use Pandora and Last.FM on my computer at work. Last.FM - Seems like the service has a better list of artists than Pandora so i switched to it on my PC recently. On Android the service is the same but as an app it tends to be open in the background all the time and suffers from not being able to pause (like the PC version). The scrobbling could be nice for some users and it links to the android player. Sound Quality seems excellent, best of the three so far. Pandora - Haven't gotten to use it too much because it takes so long to load my station. Sound Quality seemed fine with my limited use.
Slacker Radio - Has the most music options of the three and seems likes the best application. It has plenty of options like keeping the screen from freezing while plugged in and on wifi without having to change your phone settings. Had to stop listening from poor sound quality though! Sound Quality started ok but a bassy boom and click started appearing after a few songs, forced to switch to Last.FM.

I turned on my Droid this morning to listen to MSNBC and I heard the last 5 minutes of Keith Obermann (5:55 am est) and then all of my news and talk channels disappeared! Channels like CNN, C-SPAN, MSNBC and NPR are all gone from my favorites and the channel line-up. There is nothing in the "News and Public Radio" category.
Has anyone else noticed this? I'm thinking this must be a temporary glitch but I would hate to lose all of these channels. If you have the Sirius/ XM radio app, would you please check this on your Droid?

I'm a total newbie to Android (and to Java in general... mostly a PERL/ PHP guy here...), so forgive me if I use the wrong terminology to refer to things... I have been asked by my company to implement an application for Android that allows a user to enter a note at the end of every call. E.g., either they or the other party hangs up, immediately a notes area pops up with a "save" button and if they enter a note, the note is saved with a reference to the call log entry. As I understand it, onCallStateChange() will give a pretty good indicator of a hangup if the state has become Telephony Manager.CALL_STATE_IDLE. I've figured out how to do the UI part, how to save it in a database, etc... My question, however, is about how I implement this "listening" aspect of it. Should I have a service running all the time that has an instance of android.telephony.PhoneStateListener? If so, do I use the onBind or onStart method, and how do I make sure it doesn't go away when memory runs low? Or can I somehow attach the listener to this event, and then terminate? Or is a Broadcast Receiver the way to go?

Just switched from Iphone 3g (used 2+ years) to Samsung Galaxy S w/ Android 2.1 . So far so good and I love the phone. I'm a bit disappointed with SOME of the apps. Mainly there dosn't seem to be an Internet Radio app that allows recording.
On iOS ther was TuninRAdio, this was a perfect app which allowed recording. I have discovered all kinds of new music this way. TuninRadio for Android is nerfed , no recording feature. I've tried a few and many radio apps don't have a record feature. anyone know of a good internet radio app that allows recording?

I like to listen to internet radio stations due to the variety of music i can listen to and also due to the lack of full Flash support yet for 2.1
my 3G & HSDPA signal is excellent almost anywhere....at home, at work and on the road and out and about. i'm with T-mobile (UK) for the past 5 years and i'm very happy with their service. and the signal.
but sometimes the internet radio still buffers sometimes even with an almost excellent signal. why is this? any explanation?

I'm fairly new in Android/Java programming, so some of the basic stuff is still quite confusing. So, lets say my application gets all data (articles) it requires from external XML files, it parses them to data models (Article class) and those articles will be used (displaying in lists or single article) all over the application for all it's lifecycle.
Where should I keep them? Can I create singleton class with an array containing all the articles I've parsed? Or should I save them to database and then query it on demand? (that sounds like too much work, I don't need to cache them for now) What's the best practice here?

In my current application design, I have an activity class application.java (which starts on launching the application), and it does not have a layout(UI screen). I call another class called servicebind.java from the onCreate method of my 1st class. here I bind to the local server (bindServer()). i call back the application class through an intent. Once I am back to my application class, I call my activity class called welcome.java which has a layout/UI. When I run this application, I am able to see the welcome screen. But the problem is, when I click on the back button, I get a black screen with just the title on top. I have to hit back button 3 times to exit the application.
The reason I see from the logs is that, the 1st 2 activity classes (application.java and services.java) does not get destroyed unless I hit the back button. So the 1st time I hit back button, the welcome activity gets destroyed. the next back button destroys the servicebind class and final back destroys the application class. Is the reason because these classes dont have a UI to display in the onCreate method. I do not want to change my design where I bind the service in the servicebind class and call the welcome activity in the application class.

Can anyone recommend an app to listen to actual internet radio stations rather than creating your own playlists?
I'm used to using the Nokia Internet Radio app on Symbian S60 which let you save your favourite stations from a choice of hundreds and start playing straight away by clicking on the shortcut. I've looked at Last FM and while it's probably very good, it's not really what I want. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
