View 6 RepliesI just got my Droid but I frequently use Pandora and Last.FM on my computer at work. Last.FM - Seems like the service has a better list of artists than Pandora so i switched to it on my PC recently. On Android the service is the same but as an app it tends to be open in the background all the time and suffers from not being able to pause (like the PC version). The scrobbling could be nice for some users and it links to the android player. Sound Quality seems excellent, best of the three so far. Pandora - Haven't gotten to use it too much because it takes so long to load my station. Sound Quality seemed fine with my limited use.
Slacker Radio - Has the most music options of the three and seems likes the best application. It has plenty of options like keeping the screen from freezing while plugged in and on wifi without having to change your phone settings. Had to stop listening from poor sound quality though! Sound Quality started ok but a bassy boom and click started appearing after a few songs, forced to switch to Last.FM.
I have been a Blackberry and Windows Mobile user for the last eight years. I am 55% sure that I want to get the Hero but I am not 100% sold. I am also considering the Pre. I know this sounds crazy, but the absolute #1 thing I need is Internet sharing and tethering capability; even more so than a phone itself. I must be able to connect my phone to my laptop, either by usb or bluetooth, and have it working in less than 30 seconds each time. I currently run Ubuntu 9.4 and Windows Vista/XP. My windows mobile phone works with all of these, and quickly.I have searched and searched but have found nothing as to wether the Sprint version is capable of thethering.

View 8 Replies View RelatedBeen running Fresh 2.1.1 for about a week now and it seems pretty good. But with 2.1.2 just out I'm planning on flashing that as soon as possible. I've been running the stock radio and RA and wanted to get some feedback on weather it would be beneficial to update both the radio and RA to the newest versions available before I flash to 2.1.2. My awake time is at about 10% and cell standby is using 48% of my battery while phone idle is using 44%. Does this sound normal? If not would flashing a new radio and RA help resolve these issues?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Sprint HTC Hero, updated to 1.56 and it still has horrendous battery life. I charged it to 100%, unplugged it, didn't touch it once and 4 hours later the battery was almost dead. After troubleshooting I think that the ZERO cellular reception I get in my home is the culprit. I believe that the phone is constantly searching for service and causing a battery drain. The HTC Sense widget only turns off the Cellular DATA, but not the actually radio. I would like to be able to leave WiFi on (i use Google Voice SMS at home) and disable the CDMA Radio alltogether.. is there a way?

Can I remove the radio.zip (from the radio update) and the ra.img (from the recovery image) files from my SD Card?
I tried searching, but couldn't find anything.
I had A online radio working last week. I just tried it now and it doesn't stream anything. Anyone have problems with this or anything like that? I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and same affect, starts to buffer then just says "stopped". Pandora is working fine for me.
View 17 Replies View RelatedJust a few questions on flashing a new radio on a Sprint Hero, as I'd like to be sure I won't brick my phone and there really don't seem to be many guides on this.
Are certain radios only compatible with certain ROMs? If so, what do you do if you want to flash a new ROM afterwards? In the event a radio flash fails, can you attempt to flash a different one or is your phone pretty much bricked at that point?
I'll probably have more questions later, as the thought of bricking my new Hero is well, I'd really rather not have to go back to my old BlackBerry.
I recently updated to Damage's 2.05 ROM and now I can't find the A Online Radio app that I really like. I searched 4shared and found the apk but it will not install???
Does anyone have this or can anyone with a different ROM see if its in the market?
I have a nandroid backup of several roms where I had it installed, can I copy it over to this ROM somehow? And why can't it install it? Is it protected?
I just wondered if anyone had managed to radio 5 live working on the htc hero?

After installing 2.1 the other day, i noticed this: menu > settings > connect to pc > default connection type > internet sharing then, i noticed this: men > settings > wireless & networks > internet sharing (checkbox) I don't remember noticing this in 1.5. and always tethered using pdanet. is this a new function of 2.1? and, by using it, does anyone know if sprint will charge us extra?

Sprint has an OUTAGE in the NY and NJ area. I'm in Central Jersey and I don't have any internet connection. I'm on the phone with a rep rite now. I just wanted everyone to know!
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Sprint CSR that I spoke with last night went through some settings with me but eventually she escalated the call and I was disconnected shortly thereafter due to a terrible connection. I just spoke with another Sprint CSR and once again I was told that there is no way to share the Internet connection with my PC, yet I see that there appear to be many people who are able to do this. The CSR said that some of the legacy customers were grandfathered in... is this the case? I am running OS 2.1 Update 1 according to Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Firmware version
I would REALLY like to have this capability when I travel... I don't need it here at home, but on the road, it would really help, especially in the airports.
After I updated to the 2.1 I get the following options when I connect my phone to my computer via USB:
Charge Only
--Charge phone over USB
HTC Sync
--sync contacts and calendar
Disk Drive
--Mount as Disk Drive
Internet Sharing
--Share phone's mobile network with PC
When I click on Internet Sharing I get the following message:
Data Call Failure
"Error Code 67 .Registration failure.
Your PCS Vision username and/or
password may be incorrect. Please
try again."
However I have no way of adding that information. Is this a service you have to pay for (extra) in your Sprint Bill? Or is it a bug in the 2.1 update.
I am wondering if there is an application I can download or purchase so that I can run the Internet on my laptop off of my phone's Internet. I have a htc hero and I want to do away with my Internet card so my phone bill will be cheaper.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince I got my Hero in November, I've been able to use the internet while on a phone call through my Bluetooth headset.I've done it hundreds of times.Everything from surfing the web to clicking and viewing picture links in Twitter texts.Suddenly, tonight, I tried to do it and noticed that I had no internet connection. As soon as I hung up from the call, the internet kicked back on.I looked up what I was trying to look up and when I got another phone call, it kicked off again.I have looked up this issue and have read repeatedly that you can't do this on a CDMA network. My question is this...why was I able to do it for months and suddenly I'm not? I just did it last night!
View 18 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of an app that can test what frequencies are being used in the area? I'm trying to figure out if something is interfering with my wireless router, and if so what it is. I've got "WiFi analyzer", but that doesn't show anything other than wireless signals directly from routers, even though a cordless phone runs on the same basic frequency.
In other words, I'd like to find an app that shows what frequencies are present near my phone, including what my phone is putting out. Is that possible?
