Android :: How To Get Past Default Tiny Text Size

Nov 7, 2009

Let's share info on how we who have poor eyesight can better use our Android phones, what do you say?

1. A program called Spare Parts would allow you to increase font size for many apps. Does not work for the HTC Hero (OS 1.5). Unknown if it woks for any other OS or phone that is currently in existence.

2. A program called Bettercut allows you to create a Display shortcut and use that to enlarge text on some apps. Does not work on the HTC Hero (1.5). Developer says it may be because of the special Home screen the Hero has. Unknown if it works for any other OS or phone.

3. Browser allows you to zoom in out of the box (unless you searched google!)

4. Do OS versions 1.6 and 2.0 allow one to enlarge text out of the box?

HTC Droid Eris :: Browser / Defaults To Tiny Size After 2.1

May 18, 2010

Ever since the 2.1 OTA upgrade, when I open my web browser it defaults to an extremely tiny size.I'd describe it as fit-to-screen where the entire web page will be fit to the size of the phone screen, thus making the words unreadable.I have to use my fingers to expand it before I can read it.But before the upgrade, it would open by default to a size that was at least readable. How can I change the default size of the web page?

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Transfer Videos To Phone Only Play As Tiny Thumbnails / Increase Its Size?

Oct 8, 2010

I've just got an x10i, 2 days ago, mainly for the huge screen.

The problem I have is films only play as tiny thumbnails, about 1 x 1.5 inch.

I've transferred by drag and drop and via media to go, even tried setting defaults, but to no avail.

I've figured out most things with my phone but not this.

It's really infuriating as I've bought a phone for it's big screen only to watch small sized clips.

Android :: How Come User Reported Tiny Text On Motorola DROID?

Nov 20, 2009

A user of my Android App reported that he was seeing tiny text. How is this possible? More importantly, how can I use the emulator to be sure that my changes will fix it?This user has a Motorola DROID phone, which has a different screen resolution and maybe other slight differences.I assume that the problem was I didn't test using the right screen size. However, I followed the instructions here and tested a larger screen and the text was fine. I know my app has fixed pixel heights like this: android:layout_height="64px" and I use text side parameters like: android:textSize="14sp" or android:textSize="12pt"

Motorola Droid : Font Size And A Spell Checker - Imposiible To Read Small Font Size In Emails Or Text Messages

Dec 26, 2009

This is my first post. I've had a Moto Droid since day one, and I just love it. It is without a doubt better than any phone that I've had over the years, and that includes the iPhone, BB, etc.

However, there are 2 things that I don't understand - Font size and a spell checker. It is imposiible to read the small font size in emails or text messages.

1. Why has there not been an app to either change the font size or be able to zoom in? Picasy has incorporated multi-touch for zooming, so I've to assume that its doable! Why not have the same in an email client.

2. Why is there not an email client out there that allows for spell checking? There are many such apps for the BB! I am a terrible speller.

I am not complaining, I just want to understand the limitations from a developers prospective, as I am sure these isuues will eventually be addressed.

Android :: Default Paint Size Too Small On New Device

Jun 2, 2010

My app uses a custom View that does a lot of text drawing. To ensure my text is always readable I've been using the result of calling getTextSize() on a newly-created Paint() instance as the minimum size. Docs say calling 'new Paint()' sets attributes like text size to default values. One of my European users just got a Motorola Milestone phone and reports that some text is unreadably small.I believe I've duplicated this using the WVGA854 skin in a 2.1 emulator.Run in that emulator my app's smallest TextViews look fine, but the text I'm drawing myself using Paint instances where I haven't changed the text size from the default is too small. I confirmed this by commenting out all setTextSize() calls in my View subclass: the text becomes too small to read comfortably.

Samsung Moment :: Anyway To Increase Text Size Of Emails And Text Messages?

Feb 19, 2010

I did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.

1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?

2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?

3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?

I am developing an application in which the layout is independent of screen resolution.
Now my problem is that in TextView the textview layout does change itself when the resolution of screen changes but the size of text remain same.I want that when the resolution is high, according to that the text size should also adjust itself(i.e. text size should be changed). And similarly when resolution is low the text size should also shrink. But here when i reduce Y-AXIS to an extent the text vanishes.I will really appreciate any answer.
