View 2 Replies View RelatedI am developing an application in which the layout is independent of screen resolution.
Now my problem is that in TextView the textview layout does change itself when the resolution of screen changes but the size of text remain same.I want that when the resolution is high, according to that the text size should also adjust itself(i.e. text size should be changed).And similarly when resolution is low the text size should also shrink.But here when i reduce Y-AXIS to an extent the text vanishes.I will really appreciate any answer.
So I'm loading images from a web service, but the size of the images are sometimes smaller or bigger than other images and the visualization looks silly when I put them in a ListView in android. I'd like to fix the size of my ImageView so that it only shows a portion of the image if it's larger than a preset amount. I've tried everything I can think of setting the setMaxWidth/setMaxHeight, setting the scale type to centerCrop, using ClipableDrawable wrapping my BitmapDrawable, setting using Drawable.setBounds(). I've tried setting in the XML and programmatically, but neither worked. I'm very surprised setting max width/height didn't do anything. Below is the XML I'm using ImageView definition in my layout file

I have an ImageView which I want to always be the same size. If the image is smaller than the view, I'd like it to be centred in the view. If the Image is larger than the view then I'd like it scaled down - with aspect ratio preserved.I've had several attempts at this myself

In my project i am having rich text editor options to apply for the edit text view. In that i applied font color,font names,font size options for user.But these options will apply for whole text available in edit text. But my problem is i want to apply user selected settings (like font color,size,font) for user selected text instead of Whole text. i want to apply the user selected font/color/size to the user selected text.How?
How to implement this .
This is my first post. I've had a Moto Droid since day one, and I just love it. It is without a doubt better than any phone that I've had over the years, and that includes the iPhone, BB, etc.
However, there are 2 things that I don't understand - Font size and a spell checker. It is imposiible to read the small font size in emails or text messages.
1. Why has there not been an app to either change the font size or be able to zoom in? Picasy has incorporated multi-touch for zooming, so I've to assume that its doable! Why not have the same in an email client.
2. Why is there not an email client out there that allows for spell checking? There are many such apps for the BB! I am a terrible speller.
I am not complaining, I just want to understand the limitations from a developers prospective, as I am sure these isuues will eventually be addressed.
I did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
I have a selection for some items using a spinner widget. At the moment the spinner will load a simple Textview and show the name of the item.It is possible to define an own view to show inside the spinner row? I would suspect it being similar to a custom List row.I simply want to show an individual icon left from the spinner text for each item in the list.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried to add a TextView before a ListView in a LinearLayout. The result is that the ListView wont show at all. The same thing happens if I put the TextView after the ListView, but then I will only see the ListView. Is there a way to get a text view above the ListView without to much of a hassle?

Is the view aware of the orientation change in order to return updated size after a change in orientation? I'm handling the orientation myself (android:configChanges="orientation|keyboardHidden"). Does it means that I have to take into account the orientation state when querying for view.getHeight()? The view returns the same value as before the orientation change. It this the normal behavior or I should "notify" somehow the view to "refresh" its size.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I size a view based on the size of its parent layout. For example I have a relativelayout that fills the full screen, and I want a child view, say an imageview, to take up the whole height, and 1/2 the width? View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have a view in my Android app and the view is playing a frame animation. I want to animate the view to increase its size to 150%. When I apply a scale animation to it, and the scale animation is completed, I want the view to stay at that new size for the rest of the activities life cycle. Unfortunately right now when the scale up animation is complete, the view snaps back to the original size. How can I get it to keep the new animated tranformation? I'm using myView.startAnimation(AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(mContext,R.anim.scaleUp150));

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to do some data processing (in a thread) right after my main Activity starts. For that data processing to be started I also need to know a visible size of my main View (which is a LinearLayout currently, but whatever).I wonder how to do that. I.e. I wonder what is the entry point (callback?) I should use to be sure that my main View has been layed out, so i can use view.getWidth/getHeight? Is creating a custom View and reimplementing it's onSizeChanged() - the only way? In this case how should I properly describe it in my xml layout file? (it will contain some child views)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a gallery widget and in that i had a view with linear layout which has a edit text inside. When it launches on device the edittext box shows but has no text visible.
However when i scroll to next view in gallery it shows text and when it comes to focus and centered the text disappears.
If i replace gallery with grid or a horizontal view I can see the text on edit text.
Can you please advise what I might be doing wrong here. Why the text disappears.

My understanding is that when you have a view that's too small to easily touch, you're supposed to use a TouchDelegate to increase the clickable region for that view. However, searching for usage examples on Google turn up multiple people asking the question, but few answers. Does anyone know the proper way to set up a touch delegate for a view to, say, increase its clickable region by 4 pixels in every direction?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe documentation at http://code.google.com/android/reference/android/widget/AbsoluteLayout.html says:
onLayout(boolean changed, int l, int t, int r, int b) //Called from layout when this view should assign a size and position to each of its children. So I overrode it like this:
@Override
protected void onLayout(boolean changed, int l, int t, int r, int b) {
Log.d("test", "In MainLayout.onLayout");
int childCount = getChildCount();
for (int childIndex = 0; childIndex < childCount; childIndex++) {
getChildAt(childIndex).setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(100, 100, 100, 100));
}
super.onLayout(changed, l, t, r, b);
}
I am declaring the child elements (buttons) in the XML for the layout. This correctly sets the position of the buttons but not the size. The size is being taken from what is defined in the XML (it's a required attribute).
I have a View that I've placed into a ScrollView.The View paginates text.If the text changes, then the height of this view will also change (expand or contract, depending on whether the new text takes more vertical space or less).For debugging, I draw a rectangle around the view to show its current size. After I repaginate, I cannot get Android to cause the View to change its size -- I have tried calling measure() myself, calling requestLayout(), and calling forceLayout() -- even though my overloaded onMeasure gets called, and calls setMeasuredDimension() with the correct values, the view remains the same size as it was before repagination. What am I missing?
