Sep 22, 2010I have 2 ways of displaying ListView data. I have a class for each type of row. I do not create the rows in an xml layout. (Each row is derived from View and does custom drawing). When I switch from 1 type of row to another how do I get the ListView to layout properly with the correct row heights, and refresh? Is View.forceLayout() on the right track?

To me the text is huge, and therefore the inbox list is shorter and you only get a small preview of the info. Is there a simple way to reduce that text size that I just haven't been able to find?

Nov 18, 2010I'm trying to create a game lobby for a project, and I'd like the game's status text to be a different color: red for an "[IN PROGRESS]" game and green for a game that's "[Waiting for x players]". The ListView will be populated with data, and each ListView item will have a game ID and then immediately to the right of that the game's status.
Right now I'm essentially using the Hello ListView code to create my ListView.

Then, I have a refresh button that obtains data from our database. It will get two Strings, one for the ID of the game, and the other for the status of the game. If the game status is 0, then it's still waiting for players. If the game status is 1, then the game has started. So, I create a gameItem to add to the gameList:

This is where I'm stuck. I don't really understand how I can alter the specific TextView when I create the gameItem or when I add that to the gameList. There isn't a way I can see of accessing the TextView's properties. I see how the text of the view is set (through the mapping of the strings to "line1" and "line2", but I don't know how to change any of the properties.

Mar 15, 2010I have a fairly complex activity the parent being a linearlayout with a table with some basic info and buttons. Then a couple listviews that the user can add items to. So these listviews grow more and more as the user uses the app. The problem I'm running into is the Linearlayout is bigger then the resolution of the screen and so it needs to scroll. So the scrolling doesn't work on the Listviews. I've tried playing with changing the layout_height of the listview and its child element with no success. Is there a way to make these couple listviews expand out to the amount of children? Or am I going about this all wrong? If so what other controls can I use?

Dec 26, 2009This is my first post. I've had a Moto Droid since day one, and I just love it. It is without a doubt better than any phone that I've had over the years, and that includes the iPhone, BB, etc.
However, there are 2 things that I don't understand - Font size and a spell checker. It is imposiible to read the small font size in emails or text messages.
1. Why has there not been an app to either change the font size or be able to zoom in? Picasy has incorporated multi-touch for zooming, so I've to assume that its doable! Why not have the same in an email client.
2. Why is there not an email client out there that allows for spell checking? There are many such apps for the BB! I am a terrible speller.
I am not complaining, I just want to understand the limitations from a developers prospective, as I am sure these isuues will eventually be addressed.

Oct 20, 2010I created a list view in an activity and the list shows some fields.When we click a list item a custom dialog should pop up and the user can enter some new value to this field.The custom dialog contains one edit text and two buttons ok and cancel.It is working fine.But when my list is more that means if it exceeds screen size it is showing scroll.But when we select bottom items which we can select using scroll the dialog is appearing in normal fashion.But after entering new value if i am trying to save the application is getting crashed.

1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?

Jun 15, 2010I'm using ListView to display images which I provide through an ImageAdapter class. it works great on my device (and on many other devices which I tested it on), but somehow when I'm using the emulator and I'm long-pressing the up/down button - I'm getting an outOfMemory error after 10-15 seconds.
I tried clearing cache, canceling cache, etc. - nothing helped.
I know this crash is pretty rare (i couldn't reproduced it on any "real" device), but I can see on DDMS that "GC freed" are getting bigger during that long press and I can't find a way to clear them.
