TrekBuddy is very good, but it produces cache for rmaps and many other apps, but not for Google Maps.So I wonder if there is a tool which can do this, or convert the cache of TrekBuddy to the cache of Google Maps, which can be used by android cell phones?

Is supposed to cache the route as to not drain the battery life as fast and also to help with poor reception areas. My question is do you have to tell it to cache or is that done automatically?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have got a Samsung galaxy Y with Android 2.3.6 gingerbread, Google maps is 6.4. I did pre-cached a few maps but when I disconnect the wifi after sometime the cached maps are erased.
In cache setting , current cache is shown as 0 B, while I have got 2 precached map areas.
Ever since Google started allowing offline maps (both in the old Google Maps incarnation, and in the current one), I have found that when I download a map section for offline viewing, often there are many details missing (small street names, for example).
Any way to make Google maps download map tiles to their maximum level of detail (the level you could get if you zoomed in all the way), including all street names? You'd think this would be a given, but it seems not to be.
Searching around for discussions of this, most articles and forum threads are just about tile caching in general, not level of detailed cached.
I'm facing the infamous problem of "not enough space" when downloading from the market, while I actually have plenty of space. The ultimate solution seems to be moving download cache to the SD card (symbolic link). The problem is that the download cache with ICS and Google Play isn't located in /cache/download anymore, and I have been unable to find where it is located both searching with Google and browsing the filesystem.

It's a really great option, but what really annoys me is this: when I use GPS, my data connection must also be enabled in order to refresh Google Maps. And since data packets in Croatia are still pretty expensive, this is not a option for me. Anyway, the question is: is there a way to fully download Maps to your SD Card without having data connection enabled, but GPS only?

Is it possible to automatically detect, which certificate was used for signing APK? I'd like to have both debug and release Maps certificates in application and pass valid one to MapView constructor.
With such setup I will not make mistake while releasing application - I'm using debug certificate on emulator and my device, then sign with release one before sending app to Market.
I was thinking about detecting my particular device or whether debugger is connected but it is not perfect. Maybe some file marking need for debug certificate? Is there any better way?

Is there an a Google Latitude application that I should have or do I access everything through Google Maps? When I go the www.google.com/latitude on my G1, it offers me the option of "launching" Latitude but it just takes me to Google Maps. From there, I cannot see the locations of my Google "friends" (who have agreed to show location), neither does my own location show up on the Latitude homepage on the web (I have settings turned to "detect my location automatically").

Since i will hit many spots outside of tower coverage, i am wondering if there is a way to download maps and save them to my phone, so that my GPS location will not be a blue dot amidst a sea of gray boxes. Is there any way for this? Google maps and AndNav both download stuff temporarily, correct? they won't show any maps if they can't locate Edge or 3G network.

It said some applications failed to download. The only app I downloaded so far was Google Earth. Now every now and then it keeps feeding me with these notifications... I've installed an app killer to shut down the Android Market, but after a while it turns back on by itself.

I have been between the Desire, Galaxy S and the Desire HD for the last month but have been really turned off by the small battery on the DHD and have just found I can get almost all the feature on the Desire with 2.2. One answer I couldnt find is does the froyo update for 2.2 have auto caching of the maps? I use my map a lot as I travel all over the city and this really intrigued me about the DHD. I always like to have all my apps updated to the latest release and because of this I go to the Market->Downloads and checks for available updates about four times a day. Usually there's always updates sitting there. The hassle is when there's so many to go through them all and and install them.
Is there any app out there that can go through and constantly check for updates and install them automatically?
If not then I'm hoping someone can make one. It seems like a pretty simple thing to make. Then again I'm not a Dev so what do I know?
I went to do a nandroid backup and it failed, "no space on my SD card".
Thats weird, as usually have at least 4 gig on my Nexus S 4g.
Poking around, it was the cache from Google plus,).[url].... That, coupled with my titanium backup of same ate my SDCARD. easy to fix Titanium from backup it up, but the cache is still several gigs large. 40,000 + files with [number].screen extensions.

All my google applications like Gmail, Maps, Play,Google Plus are working fine in WIFI.But when i try to refresh or update these application thro Airtel 3g,i am getting No Connection Error.

I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!
In cm roms, dalvik cache of system apps are generated in /cache but those data/apps are generated in /data. Is there any way to disable this behaviour? Cache partition in our phones is too small. In AOSP and AOKP and stock roms, dalvik cache is always generated in /data no matter whether its a system app. any way to achieve this in cm roms?
